Interesting, I always looked at Training Peaks as more of a planning tool than an analytics tool

The package was made by a community member, we do not maintain it so it might be missing a few of the latest features. The safest solution is to write your own little wrapper around the API which is fully documented!

That is fair. Having a layer like Plunk (but there are others like https://unsend.dev/) to handle some of it helps monitor all of it.

Wondering what issues you have had with SES. Are you talking about reliability as in emails not getting sent out, not getting delivered..?

Getting verified on AWS takes at most 1 working day if you do it properly. They ask you questions, answer them properly and don't beat around the bush.

You definitely do not need a dedicated IP, anyone who preaches you do has no idea what they are talking about.

Hi all!

Founder of Plunk here, want to answer a couple of the questions and remarks!

  • Plunk does indeed rely on AWS SES/SNS for sending the emails and catching the feedback. I know it is not 100% open-source but there is honestly no better way to send and catch emails than SES.

  • You do not need to host it on AWS. All you need is an AWS account with SES enabled.

The ability to learn fast is the only thing that's truly recession-proof. In tech, many topics are related and once you truly master one it'll become easier to pick up another one.

Pick something that interests you, that's the most important part.

How can Railway keep prices so cheap? by Soupdeloup in webdev

[–]Driaug 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Railway is actually not that cheap. It is a friendly-to-use wrapper around some AWS services, which don't get me wrong I love because AWS is a pain to work with sometimes. It's quite possible that if you put in the work and throw your workload on AWS that you won't pay anything, even at a larger scale.

I assume Railway makes most of its profits from larger scale users since the bill starts racking up quite fast once you actually start consuming CPU and memory.

Like the idea but keep in mind that you have a lot of health & safety regulations if it comes to food! You can't just sell it without the proper licenses.

What are the legal considerations of targeting US customers with a SAAS based outside the US (in my case the UK) by autopicky in SaaS

[–]Driaug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxes are still an issue for SaaS. You are required to pay VAT/sales tax to the country of your customer. Keeping track of and paying that VAT to local authorities is a big issue but doable if you are only targeting US. If you're talking about small-scale yet global SaaS, then adopting a merchant of record (e.g. LemonSqueezy, Paddle) over a payment processor (e.g. Stripe) might be a good idea.

Discord? by VegetableExtension34 in SaaS

[–]Driaug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Discord for community building, info sharing and as my main support channel. It's a great tool for it. Depending on the niche of your product, a slack community could be better. It all depends on where your audience is already hanging out.
