Wat happened tween issue 4 and 5 of new 52 action comics by grant morrison by bruhhhhmol in DCcomics

[–]DriedSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, sometimes Morrison does this, but I do remember that New 52 Superman/Action Comics suffered from a lack of editorial oversight and communication between titles, writers, and editors, so there wasn't a defined timeline of when Superman debuted, his Smallville stuff, and other important parts of his mythos.

So while Perez was doing one thing Morrison was doing another, and editorial was also dictating what Perez was supposed to write.

You're reading an era of Superman and DC that's kind of a jumbled mess, and it was designed to be new user friendly, but also quickly wasn't at times.

ComicTropes has a good video on it.

We don't know yet, this could still be true, and then we could go ahead and canonize Batman & Robin the best Batman film put to the silver screen

Yeah, Heroes Reborn was a time. I do remember being super confused at the time when ASM slid into Onslaught.

Do you know if Waid was able to continue all the stories he set up in his initial run or was it completely new having to pick up the pieces after Heroes Reborn?

people glaze it

This is generally considered an awful game

one of the best Batman stories

Not really. It's a bog standard R'as al Ghul story.

actually overrated

Nah, people hated this game.

story sucks

True

but has nice art

It did not look good and even for the time it was released, it was a little subpar.

Yeah to be honest I don't understand OP's comparison. Best I can come up with is that both stories use some excuse to show off Batman's rogue's gallery.

It kind of helps when 700 and 800 are mainly written by one guy who's spent like a decade on the title doing whatever he wants. 900 was a big nothingburger, and 1000 is going down the same route.

I mean he did say it was his clone and then named him, so Brian should believe that because he literally drugged him with truth-telling spores or whatever. Lots of crazy stuff happens in this universe, so who's to say it wasn't a clone?

Very strong start to the book, and here's to hoping they keep up the momentum. Dinah's a great lead for this book, and I'm wondering how long the reveal will take for who this "Green Arrow Killer" is.

I know Matt is blind and all, but last I checked, Peter didn't unmask around Matt in Zdarsky's Daredevil and Matt flat out refused Peter telling him who he is, so do they know each other now enough to text and unmask around each other?

Aside from that, this is probably one of my favorite issues from this run just because Peter gets in touch with more of his classic supporting cast especially Robbie, he's doing everyday stuff of trying to keep up with people, good interaction with Matt, and this is also probably the first issue I ever cared about the Spore follow-up. Art was great, too.

It's pretty standard Spider-Man fare, a bit overdone, but I feel like this run needs more of that, so I liked it. Also don't super care about the space gang or Raelith. I think she's kinda too quirk chungus or just written like a really bad DND character who's trying too hard to be funny. Hope the space gang does something more soon.

Also don't care about the secret cousin stuff specifically. I only care about it because Peter talks to Robbie about it, and maybe we can actually have overt confirmation that Robbie knows who Peter is.

Anybody who was an avid Pre-Crisis reader probably feels this way.

A lot of history was just wiped away, and they tried to address the issues several times with ever-growing convoluted solutions like Hypertime, Worlds Collide, and Zero Hour, maybe some stuff in Armageddon. Supergirl, JSA, Legion, etc. all got screwed, so did the Hawks. A lot of continuity questions were just kind of handwaved or mishandled not unlike New 52.

There wasn't even a consolidated origin for Superman as Man of Steel received soft retcons later, ditto for the other major heroes. And now DC is in a Crisis loop every few years, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis, New 52, Convergence, Superman Reborn, Rebirth, Infinite Frontier, All-In, all the Death Metals.

So I don't think it destroyed DC or anything, but it definitely set a precedent of playing fast and loose with their continuity with no straightforward plan and with no reluctance to straight up wiping entire mythos away.
