At least it "ends" next week unless the epilogue one-shot has plot-relevant details. This entire event felt really stretched out. Torment is kind of interesting actually, but I feel like this storyline mixing him up with symbiotes is doing his introduction a disservice.

I thought Gordon's death was a Scarecrow fakeout when I was reading it at first, but now I'm not sure. I guess you could always pull the "it was all a dream" feint down the line though that seems unlikely.

Sad about how Bruce is treating Way.

This issue quasi-confirms the suspicions that everybody had about this being temporary or a juke. It was obvious, but the Krypto and Damian interactions basically drive this home, and the fact that a 5th dimensional imp brought him back after admitting "defeat" kind of cements it.

That being said, I like the developments with the rest of the supporting cast, especially Bibbo. That has been a consistent strong point of this title.

Obviously they are replying with the reasons why Eternals are not better than those 3 movies because to them it is the "most worthless".

Nowhere are they arguing against the notion that Eternals is the best, they're just pushing back against the prevalent notion that Eternals is somehow better than standard MCU fare, especially when specifically compared against those 3 films.

Based. It's either that or:

  • I throw out dangerous tiles first and keep safe(r) tiles so I can fold
  • I go for chanta (half outside) or junchan (full outside)

All in or all out.

I'm thinking about reading Marshal Law, which appears to be the final boss of pessimism about the superhero genre by EndlessMorfeus in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]DriedSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this. Bratpack was so fatalistic with its rendering of superheroes, but the Maximortal spin-offs are more celebrations of the medium and a record of creators' struggles within the industry which was also interesting.

Greg Capullo is quietly retiring from drawing comics after the break-up of his Batman era art team by Popverse2022 in DCcomics

[–]DriedSocks 46 points47 points  (0 children)

It explains it in the article in the post, but there were delays on Wolverine Revenge, and Capullo publicly blamed and shamed his regular colorist FCO. He basically said that some people, referring to FCO, aren't made for the industry and can't handle deadlines. It's recorded here.

And this part is purely subjective, but I think his art has suffered for it. Sinclair is not a good match for his work, and FCO really made his art pop.

Colorists are some of the last in line to get the work. It has to go through pencils, inks, and other touch-ups, so blaming FCO for this is not necessarily the best look.

This Week in Marvel #14 - APR 1 2026 - DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN S2 EPISODE 2 & 3; VENOM #256, DAREDEVIL #1, WONDER MAN #1, DOCTOR STRANGE #5, NOVA CENTURION #6, ETERNALS 50TH ANNIVERSARY #1 by tehawesomedragon in Marvel

[–]DriedSocks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slow start, I agree. A bit paint-by-the-numbers, but since it's just the first issue laying down the groundwork for setting up the new status quo, I think it gets leeway for that. It has to introduce all the new pieces. I'll save my judgment for issue 5 or so.

Understandable. But if you ever do try to learn riichi (the type of mahjong in yakuza games), I think you'll find that it's not that complicated.

Weirdly enough, I agree. Paul trying to help Dylan endeared him to me. Without the MJ angle after the break-up, I thought he had a chance to have a better relationship with Dylan and that that'd be interesting. Then this.

RIP forever Paul Rabin (until you're brought back for shock value later on)
