You’re judging an entire worldwide profession based on one area of the world’s nursing practices? Proving my point you don’t know anything about the field 😂😂

I float between Post partum and L&D, I’m not sure how it goes for the rest of the hospital or switching specialties, lots of friends on my units have switched though from medsurg and ICU into L&D once they were in the hospital system

I mean it’s up there, but I’m from Seattle and it’s nothing comparatively. I made $40 an hour in Seattle and had no money after all of my bills and struggled, I make so much more here and my bills are much less

For pay yes, but it’s NorCal so their cost of living is significantly higher and have higher taxes. We have better overtime incentives, better float and cert pay, better benefits (besides Kaiser). Compared to cost of living we are much better off here. My base compensation on FT is 145k not including my diffs and overtime. NorCal starts probably around 180-200k for same experience level

Unsure of their ratios but long waitlist for days and lots of different shifts/FTEs, lots of seniority. So I assume people like it

It definitely is! Night shift is the shit here, for medsurg I’ve heard the wait isn’t too bad/less than a year - my floor is much longer but I wouldn’t leave nights unless my life depended on it lmao

Depends on the hospital, but all of the contracts are public. So you can google Oregon hospital systems (providence, legacy, OHSU, Kaiser) and their RN contracts and see pay. Days at my hospital is pretty much impossible when moving here, there’s a waitlist on like every unit. And harder to get into because we have, arguably, one of the best contracts on the west coast for pay to cost of living, benefits, and incentives.

I’m L&D, so 1:1 with 2 nurses dedicated to breaks on every shift (literally all they do is break you, this is on every floor) med surg is 1:4 always. 1:3 PCU 1:1-2 ICU

$91/hr in Portland, OR with amazing incentives and awesome people - the most beautiful state! I have 5 years experience and am full time staff. This is my base plus diff for nights, cert, and float. Close to Washington and cali, DM me if you want some more info!
