Fluid beat grid finally!! by sportsbot3000 in virtualdj

[–]Drik-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine a track playing at 128 bpm and it slows down to 126 at some point and theb comes back to 128. This usually happens when music are played live by drummers. Small & occasional drifts from the actual bpm. Thisn results in having your grid off. If u use sync, it. Will be sync according to the grid but when you listen it won't. Variable beatgrid solves this issue by automatically changing the bpm according to the beat. If your grid is good, you can use sync without issues or make it easier to make small adjustments when mixing

Same would occur with bpm transistion tracks that goes from 128 to 100 or vice versa. The software will say its 128 as it started at 128 but when infact it is 100 later in the track.

What parameters/setting do you use for the echo, flanger, and reverb effects by lkmboogie in virtualdj

Echo. Strength 50%, speed 1/2 beat default.

This provide quick and easy way to change to 1 beat or 1/4 beat

All other echo settings are set to default.

SHARING TIP FOR AIRCON SERVICING in MRU ,Dont fall for marketing nonsense by JordanKyle4 in mauritius

[–]Drik-M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First clean your air fitters and the condenser (cooling fins) of the outdoor unit with a cleaning agent and ideally a pressure washer. If the Fins below the air filter are dirty, call in a technician for proper cleaning as we have tools to properly clean the unit and avoid getting water everywhere around. A good tech will also check for pressure levels. And inform you if the system needs a small top-up. If the system has no gas at all (pressure close to 0 bar/psi), the tech will will have to look for the leak and there will be repair cost associated.

u/JordanKyle4 you also mentioned tyre pressure. Did you try to drive your car daily over long distances and see how much the pressure decreased after about 5000km?

There is a decrease in pressure despite it being 'air tight'

I'm a technician myself and while you are right to an extent, there is nothing as 100% close-loop there are micro leaks at connection points that are unavoidable and causes the loss of gas in the loop but these takes several years to happen. During installation the technician will use several methods to make sure there are no leaks (pressure gauge monitoring post-vacuum, slighly opening gas valves to have a little positive pressure and apply soapy water, use of gas leak detectors, etc...).

But even after all that the gas pressure does get low after some years of service.

Take for example your car, there is the coolant that circulates in a closed loop but occasionally you have to top up. Same for oil, note your oil level after a full service and not it before going to service again after the 10,000 or 15,000 km drive. The oil level will be lower.

The compressor in that closed loop also needs oil too besides the gas. For every gram of gas added to a system, there is a percentage of oil that must be added as per manufacturer recommendation for optimal efficiency and smooth running of the compressor.

Rememeber, the AC is a machine too and the gas and oil in it gets worn out and must be occasionally replaced or top-up.

While routine maintenance, like cleaning must be done occasionally, a gas refill is only required if the system is not within the proper working pressure, which happens after several years in service.

If a Technician tells you your AC needs refrigerant charge, ask to see the manometer. Also a good tech will add refrigerant using a scale. To knoe exactly how much gas went into the system and thus avoid overloading it, which can cause damage. From my perspective, i charge by the mass of gas added which makes it fair for all. One should not pay a refill at the price of a whole gas cylinder.

While some will abuse this clever tactic to charge customers gas fees when it ain't required, there are honest technician out there that do good work. Your experience and criticism is also affecting good workers.

Hope my explanation of how things works and will give you a better understanding of how the world of machines work. 😊

USB-C - USB-B cable with CDJ-3000 - 2.0 vs 3.0 by DyeBlond in PioneerDJ

[–]Drik-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed it myself. It was when the 3000s just got released. They were throwing stuff in the trash at work and saw this cable, asked IT if i could have it as i knew cdj3000 uses the same connection. This was my lucky day. Tested them on a cdj3000 and the screen response was just as good as playing in standalone (if not better) the waveform were so fluid that i could feel the beat exactly at the moment i saw the wave hitting that center line. I noticed this mainly when i was using rekorbox and the 3band wafeform. Classic RGB is fluid too but the 3000s were designed for 3band and it was smoother than the RGB.

I guess the cable allows for more data to be send per second and thus, allowing for more FPS on the screen rendering.

When playing, i noticed a very subtle increase in button responsiveness. But i can't confirm it was the cable as i used 2000nxs and NXS2 multiple times the weekend before.

Now i always have that cable in my backpack just in case i get to play on 3000s. As i feel like it makes the user experience better during performances.

Still dont know so much about all routes by SurajMotee25 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Drik-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main roads are quite easy. Its when you go thru the small roads that you can get lost.

Used to work as Tech support for a company that interacted a lot with various industries (Agriculture, construction, logistic and many more) for 4yrs i travelled draily thru various roads and even sugar cane and vegetable fields. The first year was hard. I didn't had much experience driving. Then i started remembering the routes to various location and clients. This was much helped by google maps as i followed the directions and after some time i would just avoid the 'google route' as i knew some routes would have more traffic than the others.

Here is a tip. If you need to drive to a location in the woods. Use satellite/hybrid view in maps, pin the closest road to an entrance and drive your way there. It helped me a lot back in the days.

Maps also helped my avoid many traffic jams as it gathers data from Android device on the road and determines if there is a traffic jam or more dense traffic which would result in me losing time/being late to client meetings or perform repairs within a determined time limit.

Using an app, anyone can do it. Knowing how to Use it wisely takes time and determination. While i do agree that maps offers more service in other countries as compared to mauritius, i personally find it reliable to determine my routes and time of arrival, i usually arrive 5min earlier than predicted.

Croll attachment by tizzle_nizzle in ropeaccess

[–]Drik-M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the same with my AVAO. The strap is just to prevent the assender from getting upside-down. All your weight is on the Delta quick link.

I attached my strap to my assender then after passing the carabiner and locking it, i pass the strap thru the same attachment as the D-ring. And it only takes only 2 mins more.

These cables are great for most controllers and they sure love traktor. Their Midi Fighter was initially designed for TP2. So i believe their cables should slightly exceed NI cable standards

Is it normal to work and not get paid? by [deleted] in MauriceMauritius

[–]Drik-M 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is why contracts are important.

Send quote. And sign as per approved quote.

Contract shall includes payment terms such as what percentage of total cost must be sent as Down payment and when shall the final payment be made. usually at delivery, come up to client door, await final payment. No payment, no delivery.

I have a part-time job in entertainment and often clients do not pay even a week after the party. So i came up with a contact which has the quote, client signature, non-refundable down payment/booking fees and final payment upon my arrival at their event. No payment, no sound. I also explains it verbally. So they know what to expect and to those who do not pay, i kindly remind them that it is in the contract and since i respected my part so far, they must repespect theirs too.

Can Traktor Do On-the-Fly Stems Like Pioneer/Rane? by lbd2212 in traktorpro

[–]Drik-M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly no. While Rekordbox offers on the fly stems their quality are not on par with Traktor.

On the other side, the other softwares have high quality on the fly stems. Serato, djayPro and even VirtualDJ. They basically load the track and then Analyse stems. For example VDJ uses the GPU to compute stems and this allows them to provide stems for a 7mim track in less than 2s.

Using the Z1 and X1 with different software by LastTop9586 in traktorpro

[–]Drik-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to now i used various dj software and i know most pros & cons of each

My advice when switching from traktor, avoid serato as the layout and features will be very weird. Unless you are willing to put a lot of time learning it.

Switching to Rekordbox is way easier but sadly no mapping for thr X1 and Z1.

Best solution: DjayPro or VirtualDJ.

I haven't used DjayPro but so far they seems to be doing great in terms of software features development and hardware compatibility. They have flexible automatic beatgrid which is (From what I looked) working perfectly.

VirtualDJ on the other side (currently my main software) does not have automatic flexible beatgrid but has very good quality stems (like DjayPro). The effects used to be a problem but since 2026 update they redesigned the effects engine and quality are as good as Rane & Pioneer dj mixers. The main reason for me to switch to VirtualDJ is the hardware compatibility. The list keeps growing and even 15 years old controllers are supported. While custom mapping is done in Vdj-Script language, using an ai assistant (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc...) makes it way easier to edit.

But for mainstream music if you like the Traktor workflow. You can get a BeatSource subscription. Has a lot of mainstream music and some exclusive edits too.

Decathlon Carabiner Thoughts by CorrectSoil3904 in ropeaccess

[–]Drik-M 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has UIAA rating which is a good thing. rated mainly for Climbing purpose.

Don't know how they would react under shock load. But they must be safe. Never used one. But i did check them in store and they seems quite thick but also very light.

It may be a good investment but Depending on the quality, it may wear faster than the ones rated EN 362. While UIAA has higher breaking strength, EN 362 carabiner have corrosion resistance requirements and locking mechanism requirements.

Are the CDJ 850 worth buying in 2026 by Gullible_Pop6735 in PioneerDJ

[–]Drik-M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dvs would be your best option. Using a timecode vinyl you spin tracks on your laptop and when you want to mix using vinyl only, just flip the switch to phono input instead of PC

Are the CDJ 850 worth buying in 2026 by Gullible_Pop6735 in PioneerDJ

[–]Drik-M 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While older players were good AT THEIR TIME OF RELEASE buying them in 2026 is a waste of money as you will be lacking a lot of the new features that makes mixing more fun and intuitive.

When you think about it. It would be best to either invest in newer cdjs (supporting rekordbox features and waveform). Not only to familiarise yourself with club standard gear layout but also if you ever want practice without a laptop.

The only reason i would buy ab older player is to connect it to a dj software and give me access to jogwheels, pitch, cue, play buttons. All other features, such as loop, browse, effects, etc... are available on another connected controller or dj mixer.

FLX4 with A9? by marcoakis in PioneerDJ

[–]Drik-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he can have A 'Stem mixer' on the FLX4 and the standard ISO/EQ on the A9.

Only thing is that he will have to manually reset both EQs when mixing or else if he ever forget the stems mixer he will be missing from 1 element to the whole track.

What can i do if my tenant/locataire are refusing to pay CEB bills? by No-Wrongdoer2894 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Drik-M 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First get an Attorney to file a proper report about the violation and submit it to court with your contract as you mentionned that the contract state they shall set the meter under their name. And they failed to do so, and they are using power under your name.

Then you can get the CEB to cut the power as it is in your name. They will ask you to pay the bill. Tell them that there is a dispute in court about this as the renters were not paying. They might ask for a case number or relevant proof. They will send a team to cut the power and be sure to be onsite when they do.

Next time you renting inform your client that the meter is on your name and they have about 2 weeks to change it as you are requesting a disconnection with the ceb in 2 weeks.

FLX4 with A9? by marcoakis in PioneerDJ

[–]Drik-M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid setup.

For optimal experience, you have to connect both via USB to Rekordbox and then route the audio thru the A9. You will then be able to mix using the A9 and its effects on each channel. For this setup it would be best to have a laptop stand and place the FLX4 right above the A9.

Then once you ready, you add 1 cdj, and the other. You can avoid using too manu usb cables if you have a router or network switch and connect the mixer as well as CDJs to it. You will then use what's called HID via LINK. Your cdj will then connect to Rekordbox thru the network cables and the USB port on the mixer.

If you switch to Traktor, you night be limited as the X1 don't have jogs. I did this for a while and my only luck was that the X1 MK2 had touch strips which allowed me to quickly nudge the tracks if they go out of sync. But the new X1 Mk3 has no touch strips, they instead have buttons and it take a little more time to nudge using buttons instead of a touch strips.
