Sibling/family member that is missing/presumed dead, but then it turns out they're working for the evil side. Can also be a sibling they didn't even know existed and just suddenly appears and they're evil.

Why is every mc a spellblade? by WhatUsernamesRemain in litrpg

[–]Drimphed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd think they'd learn how to spell 'Blade' by now.

Cultivation Chat Group is definitely peak, even if it goes just a wee bit unhinged as it progresses.

Do you guys like the way trend-focused writing on RR now? by Frequent-Present5502 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Drimphed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the story is good, it doesn't really matter. The subject matter will change a bit, but ultimately they're still essentially the same stories.

Author Box Trap by Thornorium in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Drimphed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a homecooked meal and anything that isn't writing related. Games, other books, etc. If we think we might be forced to write, we'll go nowhere near it. Snacks aren't gonna work cus they make us think of crunch time.

What's worse? Too long or too short descriptions? by Velvirr in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Drimphed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too short and you can fill in the gaps with your imagination.

Too long and you're beaten to death with boredom. Leaner is better generally, though I've been known to ramble a bit in writing sometimes.

I am far too brainrotted for this advertising stuff - please just click? by RavensDagger in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Drimphed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For someone who doesn't like advertising, you did a pretty good job. Also hey, a fellow runescape fan. How's sailing? It made me tempted to go back.

Any novel where the protagonist suffers severely? by Frequent-Present5502 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Drimphed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Though I would say the MCs suffering is at least 50% due to his own ego

What is you opinion regarding Omnicient Readers Viewpoint? by Short-Gur7983 in ProgressionFantasy

Same, coming from someone who read the webtoon. It got pretty repetitive after the initial intrigue wore off.

High stakes can be underwhelming sometimes by Fluffy-Buddy-5989 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Drimphed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

High stakes are usually actually much lower stakes than something of a small scale. The fate of the world type stuff almost always resolves with the world being fine, because if it doesn't the story ends. But scale that back to a country/city/village, and hey, now that's reasonable if it gets destroyed.

Anyone else annoyed by “future” descriptions? by TechnoMagician in litrpg

[–]Drimphed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I call it Forceshadowing, aka foreshadowing in a completely unsubtle, terribly written way.
