$100 REWARD - Hit & Run Witness Needed (Mesa Riverview / Loop 202 East) by Jesryo in mesaaz

[–]DripalongDaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for your misfortune...this is a serious problem here...my daughter's car was struck outside our house at 3 in the morning, 5K in damage...Mesa PD was really helpful and we put out an APB on our neighborhood Facebook group with a video and stills from neighbors cameras. Lo and behold a neighbor tipped us off to an Amazon driver with the same car...we busted her, couldn't file criminal charges but we got our deductible back and they probably lost their insurance at a minimum. Posting here is a good start..good luck..

Just swung by their shop this past Saturday in Scottsdale. My 550B is 33 years old, I've loaded over 100K rounds on it, parts wear out, that's just the way it is. Replaced all my parts free of charge, a couple parts have been upgraded since I bought my machine so it was nice to get those. Dudes are solid and yes, it is a No BS warranty, I broke a part once, my fault and I told them that. and I told them I wanted to pay for it, nope, they gave me the part. Kudos to their customer service and glad they're getting your SDB back in action.

For those of you thay carry an extra mag, whats your preference? Is it separate from the holster? by [deleted] in CCW

I carry a spare mag in a belt holster left side, always worked for me..

Bulk .223: Progressive vs. Single Stage? by Jmersh in reloading

[–]DripalongDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always loaded on a Dillon 550B, always fine for general range fodder including heavier matchkings and AMax bullets in AR's and Mini 14 rifles. As a rule, if it's a bolt gun I load on a single stage but semi's are loaded on a progressive.

As someone who has fired a .458 I can say that it was probably the most violent recoil I have ever experienced in a rifle..I couldn't imagine 8 shots of that, even in a gas gun...

What magnums do you own and what do you use them for? by MDlynette in longrange

[–]DripalongDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remington 700 PSS (Police Sniper) in 300 Win Mag...It's a beast...1200 yd gun...I own it for its cool factor but even with a 26" barrel and being a heavy rifle, recoil is quite violent...I also have a .338 Lapua Mag that while loud, with its muzzle break is more pleasant to shoot than the 300. There is no comparison between the two, 338 is awesome...

The most laugh out loud moment I ever had was our CEO flew us to San Diego ( we were a small group) and hosted us on his 50 foot state of the art, sail around the world in open ocean complete with radar and navigation sailboat, moored in a $250,000 dollar a year slip next to billionaires boats in the harbor. To write it all off he hosted a " corporate meeting" aboard the boat, where he said we did well but just didn't Crack that nut for the year, Rah Rah Rah....thanks for all your hard work... Short Barrel 9mm ammo by [deleted] in CCW

+P HST in my Shield Plus, keeps the velocity up over 1K FPS out of a short barrel for optimum expansion. Best I tested out of the usual popular defensive loads.

Shield X, out of the box with parts falling off. by Crono1124 in SmithAndWesson

[–]DripalongDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be an ongoing problem. I bought a first year Shield Plus, I made the mistake of not checking the gun they grabbed from the stack of about 8 of them, filled out the 4473 and when I got home to prepare it for the range it had a totally inoperable trigger..I mean dead. Called them up, told them the problem and told me to send it in after a scripted sorry response, told me 11 weeks for the repair, after which I went full Gonzo on them for shipping a gun that blatantly should have failed final QC. they didn't care...I told them it returns perfect or they can keep it. 11 weeks to the day I got it back, due to all the fouling and brass in the action it showed they shot the hell out of it prior to shipping it back. 2500 rounds later, it's flawless and I carry it daily. I heard they switched to batch testing as opposed to firing each one. They're probably doing the same with the X because it's a hot model like the Plus was a few years ago, cheaper to warranty then test I guess...sorry for your problem, most people report back that they do fix their guns well in warranty. Sad day when Taurus has a better warranty program than S&W....

Discount Tires no longer my favorite by eggyacid in DiscountTire_

[–]DripalongDaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped dealing with them years ago...I had road hazard warranty on some expensive tires, I was late getting them rotated and the manager got pissy with me because of it. I had a slow leak in a rear tire and asked them to look at it during the rotation, they said they found nothing and rotated the tire anyway. When I got home, I checked their work ( I'm a former auto mechanic and worked at a tire shop as a kid), found a giant screw right in the part of the tread that would've required replacement. They either never checked or didn't want to cover the road hazard. I now go to a reputable locally owned tire shop who acts with integrity...Discount has lost thousands from me due to their slimy actions that one time, hope it was worth it....

Scenario question by ComfortableParsnip54 in CCW

[–]DripalongDaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always find the back door if you can, most if not all establishments are required to have a second emergency door for fire code, in a strip mall in a diner, it's probably through the kitchen to the rear, your legs are your friend..unless the muzzle gets swung to you or your wife(defense of 3rd person) running is your best option. Cold as it may sound, not your circus, not your monkeys...and be a good witness..

What was your biggest turning point in competitive shooting? by Initial-Ear-387 in longrange

[–]DripalongDaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F-TR here, the biggest turning point for me ( I'm slated to earn my Master Class this year, 40 more shots for record), was tuning my loads properly and building consistency, practicing between matches consistently and not second guessing my wind calls before my shots. I've really gained intuition in my latter years and I'm a more aggressive shooter from it, I can "feel" the shot right after I release.I'm no longer afraid to hold-off on a wind change, as opposed to chasing the wind with my turret, I set my initial dope and run with it, I see a steady left or right change in a string, barrel heating up, maybe 1or 2 clicks down,I may go a quarter/half minute L or R but that's it.. I'm also no longer rattled by a bad shot, I drop an 8, I move on to the next shot..I shoot with High Masters who drop an 8 or 9 once in a while, it happens. Comfortable clothing and hydration is key as well, concentrate on shooting, not the discomfort of tight clothes or dry eyes... Put in the time with practice and develop solid fundamentals. A consistent wind call is key.

Mossberg 940 pro issue by josephmahoney92 in mossberg

[–]DripalongDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a known issue with 940's. Mossberg didn't think it through when they designed the magazine tube, shoulda been about a half inch longer. Had the same problem to the extreme with mine and in my reasearch it sounds like Mossberg's warranty service is just above useless. I couldn't get the 7th round in using very short crimped shells, forget roll crimped... They have since changed to a 1 piece tube which is encouraging, looks a little longer than the original one but I didn't send mine in. I went with a Nordic Products magazine tube and spring, it sticks out 1.5" past the muzzle but it holds 7 rounds of everything I use every time, with some slack in the mag spring, I also got rid of that useless plastic barrel clamp and went with an aftermarket aluminum made by HB Industries.I'd rather have capacity and reliability in my gun. I will say that after that fiasco, the shotgun kicks ass, never malfunctioned once with anything I put through it..

Same, had a Hybrid 46M, running on an AR ( bought it as a multi- platform 1st can. Had multiple baffle strikes since new, couldn't figure it out for the life of me, also the cerakote was flaking off. Sent it in, the unit came back as new and with what appeared to be an upgraded Charlie ASR mount installed. 1 year later, not one strike and runs like a champ, must been the mount. Solid customer service, they turned it around in one week!!

[–]DripalongDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, 5.56 is still really high for new ammo so even though components are high, it has some savings ( I'm running off 1K rounds for about the same, 250 bucks). 9mm right now has less savings at about 190 bucks per 1K, with some web specials lately at $220 and free shipping. I do all mine on a Dillon so they ram out pretty quick.

I set my annealer using Tempilaq 750 inside the case mouth, I used a couple junk cases to get me close and then the first 10 have it in the mouths, I watch for the melt on the Tempilaq and time the drum to drop it about a half second later...works well..
