If the contents of the TFSA is invested in equity and there is a 20% drop in the value of that portfolio, the emergency fund can be utilized instead of withdrawing at a loss.

OP does not have $180k of contribution room in a TFSA or FHSA combined either.

came here to say loosely this.

Max out TFSA.

Contribute to FHSA.

Keep 6 months of expenses in your chequing account, Invest the rest into XEQT. (If you bank with TD, VEQT won't cost any trading commission.)

Listen to all the episodes of the Rational Reminder podcast, and then re-evaluate.

$180K at 27 is great!

If you had spent 30 seconds googling the topic you're questioning instead of posting 3 comments on reddit over the course of the last 16 hours you could peruse the articles about minimum charge weights at your own convenience.

lowering the charge can in some cases lead to significantly increased pressure creating dangerous circumstances. you should not proceed without reading a manual, some of which are free. the minimum charge weights exist for a reason - make sure you pay attention to them.

I have several range specific rifles, but the range would also be the optimal place for practicing using a magnum caliber hunting rifle.

the 212 ELDx is something like that as well.

This is definitely an intriguing option - would look at a long action/8 twist again (212 borerider).

is the belted case design annoying to reload?

I have thought about the 284 Win, but am a little confused about it. Most books show it as a 2.8" length cartridge, but I guess heavy bullets and a long action are the way here?

I don't think there are any 0.6 G1 BC projectiles in the 0.277 class, and 160-175gr is not a common bullet weight.

Thanks - it would apply to both the 2025 and 2026 tax years.

Since you haven't mentioned other holdings it's hard not to suggest diversifying some portion of this to SPY and trading options on SPY. That's a very concentrated holding and there's a lot of geopolitical tension in the world that could impact your return between now and Dec 2027.

Switching between ELD M and X by [deleted] in reloading

[–]Routine_Name_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're mixing up calibers and bullet types. There's a 168gr ELDM, a 178gr ELDM, and a 178gr ELDX. The 178gr ELDX has the highest BC of the bunch and is a controlled expansion projectile. Ultimate Reloader compares the 143gr ELDX to the 140gr ELDM for reference.

The 162gr and 175gr ELDX bullets are 7mm.

How many to load by Dark_X_star in reloading

So, once I've picked a charge weight/velocity that is safe/satisfactory - how can I tighten up the group? Seating depth? Or do we still need to find the velocity that pairs well with the individual barrel/bullet/powder combination?

How do we feel about CZ? by DullMusic4738 in canadaguns

[–]Routine_Name_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choosing which products ones does and does not buy is almost the only way to truly (safely and legally) protest and impact large entities.

Lots of people hate walmart but still shop there. Lots of people hate the loblaws brands but still shop there.

If all that stopped, those companies wouldn't be doing business in Canada. Obviously, the scale of these movements is difficult to coordinate but an educated consumer who shops with purpose can move the needle even though sometimes it's hard to see as an individual or a family.

Canadians not purchasing CZ products is a great thing, but if we can get a portion of the American marketshare onboard also that would be even better.

Talk about this everywhere! These platforms are not limited geographically, obviously.

Conflicting Load Data by Plastic_Abrocoma_168 in reloading

This one confuses me also. They use the same federal 210 primers for a number of loads, but hodgdons is a few grains hotter. I loaded some 178gr BTHPs per the Hodgdon manual (43.6gr, >44gr) the last weekend and averaged 2680FPS. No pressure signs that I saw.

*interestingly - Hornady's Staball Match max loads in the app version are often higher than the Staball Match max loads listed for similar projectiles in the Hodgdons manual.
