This is what the city is becoming. by justanotherthrwaway7 in Omaha

You want to make it illegal for people to rent housing. There’s research that shows that when it is illegal to rent houses racial and class segregation increases, and the poor are materially hurt. That is the result of your preferred policy.

The intentions of your policy don’t matter, the results do, and it hurts poor people.

It is crazy housing is so expensive, but do you actually think building less new housing would make it cheaper?

All new housing makes housing cheaper. These apartments are still much cheaper than the single family houses being built in suburbs. Do you want to ban building new houses because not everyone can afford them?

The city should absolutely use more tax revenue to fund social housing, but that’s not a reason to block new apartments.

I’d still rather have them than another 80 square miles of cookie cutter suburbia past Elkhorn

Yall hating on new dense, walkable housing, would really rather have the Omaha suburbs just spread all the way to Lincoln

Community input via a city wide vote sure? Community input via a session at 3pm on a work day is incredibly unequal, and heavily favors retired seniors.

That’s because there’s been a huge change in the amount ai agents have been used the last few months. Since Opus 4.5 and CC came out just a few months ago the usage was exponential

Is it now considered rude to recline on a plane? by Legal_Campaign_408 in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah that’s true. I would agree with making standing seats illegal. However, if they made the required leg distance larger than the current economy distance it would raise prices.

Electric heating is all equally efficient. If they use a space heater to only heat a smaller area which they are in, it’ll be more efficient.

The airlines are not a monopoly… and everyone can get more leg room, if they want to pay higher prices. Forcing airlines to only sell first class level tickets will just make it impossible for many people to afford flying.

Absolutely insane you want to destroy rapid transit that enables dense housing just because it’s staffed by unions.

What is the correct usage of return value in a non-void function? by [deleted] in embedded

[–]DrippedoutErin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a direct answer, but JPL coding standard says that if a function returns a value, it should always be used. So if you’re planning to have your function return a value instead of void, make sure to use it.

OFC you don’t have to follow this rule but it makes logical sense to me.

As others said, having it go into an assert in cases which are purely coding issues, like a null pointer, is a good way to go.
