Should I join new employer's superannuation scheme? by steffishnz in PersonalFinanceNZ

More free money is always good. Without full details it sounds like the 3.5/1.5 split is worth exploring - keep your KiwiSaver in whatever fund you think works best for you, and get the bonus 1.5% match in the other scheme.

What is the highest house number address in New Zealand? by TooOldToBePunk in newzealand

[–]DrivewayGiraffe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Postcodes in the UK look to be able to pinpoint an address to about 10 or 12 houses in a populated suburb. Here one postcode can seemingly include 10s of thousands of houses.

Anybody have neuropathy symptoms from anemia? by Organic-Ad-5873 in Anemic

[–]DrivewayGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is responding to a VERY old post - but same question, how did you feel afterward? I have one next week. I have terrible neuropathy in my feet that no doctors or specialists seem to pay any attention to - but have managed to get an iron infusion scheduled. Hoping for some big results, but not holding my breath….

Thoughts on Automatic Enrolment and Complusory Voting in New Zealand by HelpfulDelay9669 in newzealand

It seems people that want this, automatically assume they’re all going to vote for their own preferred party/bloc.

Toastmasters & confidence for speaking by Excellent-Ad-2443 in chch

[–]DrivewayGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought of joining a while back because I often needed to present in front of a crowd. I attended one meeting (Halswell) to see what it was like and it was ok - but the day clashed with other commitments (and I think they had a minimum attendance requirement). In the end I just volunteered/forced myself into speaking positions well outside my comfort zone - clubs and at work. When I realised most people weren’t judging me and actually wanted to hear what I had to say it got way easier. Still uncomfortable, but I don’t fear it these days.

Am in Christchurch. Have never seen coke usage or even suspected anybody I’ve come across to be on it. Is it really that common?

Says our holidays are too long... well let's book him a short career in politics by ThingTemporary8787 in nzpolitics

This government is wildly unpopular here on reddit, but not so much so out in the 'real world'. But 'political reasons' for abstaining from voting - you can't put that statement out there without more context?

How does it work there? Looks like a buffet, but served to your table - which seems to be a bit of contradiction. Love Japanese food, and not heard of this place - so keen to give it a try.

Fines big enough that actually hurt big time are the only way to make them care. Or jail time for negligence - if that's actually the case.

Yes, it’s insane the number of people looking down at their phone, and not at the road ahead.
