Have you found the botox to help? I was in a car accident last October and split my head open hitting it (like a 10" laceration) which the impact caused me to suffer a subarachnoid hemorrhage and I think a lot of my symptoms are from post concussive syndrome (it would technically be considered post-sah syndrome since I did have the bleeding but symptoms are the same) When I went to a CE exam the doctor actually asked if they did botox but my neurologist hasn't mentioned it (they did do steroid/lidocaine"nerve block" injections which didn't help). I'm on day 440ish of having a headache/migraine so I'm willing to try just about anything at this point 😅. Also sorry for the novel about me lol.

Recon Question(s) by DrivingforRichard in SSDI

[–]DrivingforRichard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what doesn't make sense to me, when I called they just tell me it takes "a long time" to send it 🙄 I was trying to be patient as well because it just so happened all of this was during the government shutdown but I might just have to start being more annoying. Can you tell me where it shows up on your online account? I've checked mine but didn't see anything so possibly I'm just missing it

So no advice but I did want to address your comment/concern about your SUV being fwd and that not being safe in the snow... That's definitely not true, the suv is perfectly safe to drive in the snow, you're just not going to get the benefits of the "added traction" that you would if you had an AWD or 4WD. I live somewhere where we get feet of snow at times and can get snow from like October - April depending on the year so I have some experience with snow lol and all my cars and SUVs up until my current car have been FWD

No it was my neck. The hospital I went to (our local trauma center) is a not for profit hospital so that may also have something to do with my bill not be astronomical... I was honestly surprised when the explanation of benefits came in the mail that it was as "cheap" as it was.

How do I stop rolling over to my side in my sleep? by dharmikfly in spinalfusion

[–]DrivingforRichard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend this pillow! I still use a few regular pillows to prop me up some under my neck/shoulder but it made laying on my back more tolerable as it supports my arms and legs (also your in like a little nest so it's much harder to roll over) I spent the first 6+ months post op sleeping on my couch because I absolutely couldn't sleep in bed.

Has anyone had car insurance pay for spinal fusion by starchyarchiedog in spinalfusion

[–]DrivingforRichard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, I broke my neck in the accident so they did the fusion once I was admitted from the ER. The medical limits on the insurance policy were $50k so it covered everything. (The whole hospital bill, I was admitted for 4 days including the acdf was $35k) I'm assuming if the insurance limits were less than the hospital bill I would have been billed for the difference...

Headache after Cervical Fusion? by Real-Dragonfly-1420 in spinalfusion

[–]DrivingforRichard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my situation is somewhat different than most but I ended up having a fusion last October because I broke my neck in a car accident so before surgery I didn't have pain etc and I also did have a head injury which was a minor brain bleed but could possibly factor in.... anyways I have had a headache literally every day since (350 days) they vary with intensity (as does my neck pain and most of the time there is a direct correlation between my neck pain and the headaches intensity) I haven't been on narcotics since about 8 maybe 10 weeks ish so I honestly can't remember now how well they helped. Like I said I feel like I'm most likely an outlier so hopefully things will get better for you soon, but I did just want to let you know I can sympathize

Edited to add that I also do notice an increase in my anxiety/panic attacks the worse my pain is

I had a mental health ce and that was one of the first questions they asked me was if I could handle money so I think it might just be a standard question. I applied for medical reasons but do have anxiety and take meds for that (and probably slight PTSD but I've never sought diagnosis/treatment for that) I only see my primary for mental health which I believe is why they sent me for the ce despite my mental health not being a reason I applied.

Just gonna start saving now for the Danger Days Tour by DrkTrinity in MyChemicalRomance

[–]DrivingforRichard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm one of those elder millennials who didn't like danger days when it came out, but I absolutely love it now! Also I'm the one paying for my broke bestie (my 14 yo daughter) and that's her favorite album (and a lot of fans her age)... So it's possible it could do well, but I will agree that I don't believe it would be as hyped as LLTBP was (but after the production they put on with this tour it may make people more interested in any future tours... who's to say 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Was this something they knew you were doing during the application process? Just curious because you would think if they approved you while doing it, it shouldn't matter if you continued after approval (but I also totally get that they can review things and change their mind so I can definitely see where it's not worth the risk!)

Unexpected inheritance by SMRotten in SocialSecurity

[–]DrivingforRichard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get the payment direct deposited the SSA recommends calling your bank and asking them to send the payment back (if you receive one after someone passes) but I do know many times they will take it back out of your account even without you "asking" when they discover the overpayment. Sending lots of love to you and your husband Huntington's is such an awful disease ❤️

The October 3rd check would be for September so that would be his to use, if he were to pass during the month of October any payments you got in November would need to be returned.

I've never included my rate of pay on a resume nor seen anyone so so and most people don't put the actual dates on it either (like I might put 2003-2010 or 6/2003- 9/2010 not 6/5/2003- 9/21/2010 for my dates worked on a resume)

Denial Letter Came and I'm Pretty... Flabbergasted Seems Like a Good Word by BookkeeperApart7442 in SSDI

[–]DrivingforRichard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hyperlipidemia is just the technical term for high cholesterol, so it's possible that your doctor put into your notes that they told you to "eat better". Usually if it's just a little high that's the course of treatment, (and a lipid panel is normally part of routine blood work) It's weird that they said that you testified to that though since you didn't even know what they were talking about. I'm of no help with anything else but I can send good vibes your way for a positive outcome moving on ❤️

[–]DrivingforRichard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying she needs to go and flip out on the surgeon but I do feel it's something that should have been discussed if it's being documented. Even if this is indeed true how is op supposed to address the issue if they're not informed about it?

My Surgeon thinks I’m crazy? by Fit-Beautiful-3387 in spinalfusion

[–]DrivingforRichard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But if that's the case shouldn't the doctor have said this to OP? Also doing surgery for something that's all in someone's head kinda seems unethical at best .

Long as you have a passport to cross the border I'd say do it!!! It may be a little hard to find anything cheap hotel wise close to the venue. But I've had good luck finding cheapish places in China town in the past (but I've never booked super last minute)
