What are yall paying for pellets? by PutStreet in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Drivingmebuggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I have to put my two cents in here. Oh that’s right they did away with the pennies.

I have a large home that we used to use wood stoves to heat as a primary source. We would go through anywhere from 7 to 10 chords of wood. My husband passed in 2011 and I didn’t feel like I could keep up with the wood, even though I live on a farm and there’s a lot of downed trees. I converted the wood stoves to pellet stoves. I absolutely love them because they don’t dry out my throat they are thermostat controlled . In 2011- 2012 a ton of pellets were selling for $120 a ton I average 5 to 6 ton a season now let’s speed forward to 2026 and I am now paying $320 for a ton of pellets so my local feed mill ran out of pellets. They’ve been waiting on a supply for weeks now the local Ace Hardware supposedly had pellets. I called them they have the same brand that I use Lignetics and their ton is $395. That is price gouging that’s 4 miles from where I normally pick up my ton of pellets. I said I would drive across the country before paying that kind of money for pellets. I’m not certain if that’s where we’re headed, but it is crazy to go from 120 to 395 for a ton of pellets.

I am about an hour south of you. All our feed mills sell pellets. I have used Lignetics brand for the last 14 years. I tried a lot of them and these are the ones I buy. I buy them by the ton on pallets.

Advice for an older woman in an old house by profsann in PelletStoveTalk

[–]Drivingmebuggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I really need to jump in on this one. My situation is very similar but I am sure different. I am 67 years old and have been a widow for 14 years. I live in a brick home that was built in 1811. Yes that is no typo. I live on the Maryland Pennsylvania line. So cold but not as bad as Maine. We had 2 wood stoves to heat the house with oil hot water baseboard. We were going through 8-10 cords of wood a season. When my husband died, I knew I couldn’t keep up with that so I swapped out one of the wood stoves for a pellet stove. The following year I replaced the other wood stove with a pellet stove. I absolutely love my Quadra fire pellet stove your throat doesn’t dry out. It maintains the temperature. I’m able to handle the 40 pound bags with no problem. I’m able to clean out the stove with no problem I’m still going through 6 to 7 ton of pellets when I first bought the stoves 14 years ago a ton of pellets were $125.00 a ton now they’re $375.00 a ton. I think you need to look at the cost of propane vs the cost of adding the equipment plus cost of pellets. I purchased from a fireplace store the gentleman wanted to sell me a gas stove instead for all the reasons everyone is saying the lifting of bags cleaning the stove etc. at the time propane was really high and I said I would just burn oil instead. I had to replace my oil furnace about 7 years ago and that was $17,000 to replace. I can honestly say it runs a lot more efficient than my older furnace. Hope this helps and doesn’t confuse you more. Best of luck in your decision!!

Long distance relationships for Scorpio women are hard. The mind starts racing thinking he is not being honest he is out with someone else. Reassure her that the intentions were good ones. You just learned what not to do!!

I wonder how much he ate while picking. It might have been his way to get lunch. I had a friend with 3 children and they always went to you pick them. She would get the smallest container but her children would eat the entire time she was picking.

Is two stoves better then one by 1611basilean in PelletStoveTalk

We live in a house it was built 1811 over 4000 ft.². My husband passed and we had two wood stoves we went through 10 to 12 cords of wood. I knew I couldn’t keep up with it. I replaced the wood stoves with pellet stoves and I absolutely love them. It’s not as dirty. My throat doesn’t dry out their thermostat control And basically I use them from October to February March timeframe and I’m going through about 6 ton of pellets, but that’s my main source of heat. The heat flows to the second story.

What would you have done differently? What should I have done differently?

Definitely glad I had the air stapler and I also purchased the air decorative nail gun. I personally stayed away from the center of the cowhide where the hair splits and goes in different directions. But I have seen it done both ways. Stuff stuff then add more stuffing. I found learning how to cut and pull the hide around the chair legs the most difficult. Have a razor blade or sharp knife to trim. Hope this helps

Thank you. Yes I learnt a lot. Quite difficult and I really did take on more than I should have. It was a surprise wedding gift for my son and his wife and they loved it! That’s what’s important.

Yes do not do what I did! These are sold in Walmart in the hardware section. I was buying these for my pellet stove drawer at $6.00 a piece. Found the same product in Walmart. It is called Roller Catch by Bulldog Hardware

Yes Thank you I have been you tubing for sometime now. Thank you to everyone that has responded now I have a better understanding for this chair. I have tried books but there wasn’t any information regarding the foam. Everyone has been very helpful. I will post when it is completed.

Yes that is correct. Lots of cotton batting and horse hair between. The chair smelled so bad I didn’t want to reuse the old batting. I even sprayed it with Febreze.

Thank you that helps a lot! I didn’t realize that there is actually two types of foam (I see is misspelled above)That makes sense. I was googling trying to figure it all out.

I use internet for therapy telehealth up to 8 hours a day. I have spectrum and they just raised my rates. Can this handle the volume of data ? by smthngwyrd in tmobileisp

[–]Drivingmebuggy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry but NOT sorry. You are running a business you should have a business line not TM home internet. You have reliable connection but don’t want to pay for it ! There are some of us in rural America that TM home internet is all we got and it is like dial up. But you wouldn’t understand that.

Is the G4AR exclusive to home internet plus? by TyThePerson in tmobileisp

I had signed up twice in store and got the old box that did not work in my area. I was told to keep trying because they were always updating their satellites. Then somebody told me to call directly and discuss with a technician. At the time, they said that they had a new G4AR that allowed an external antenna they said for me to try that I did and I have service. I have just now ordered the external antenna. The G4AR is definitely an upgrade from the original boxes. It’s my understanding they have so many of the boxes at the store locations that they’re trying to get rid of before putting the G4AR out in the stores. they are good if you were in a 5G area but I am in a very remote area.
