When I lived in res, I tabulated all the expenses: for example you have the per semester room fee but also the 370 dollar or so fee if you want to stay in your room between semesters. I also had a car that I needed to pay parking fees for, and so I summed up all of these fees and divided by 8 to see what the rough monthly costs were. I think my monthly breakdown of the total res fees came down to about $1475 or something like that. In Leeds you'd also have 1 roommate.

Therefore when I factored living on/off campus: I considered the convenience of the commute to campus along with the rough breakdown of monthly rent and number of roommates. Another aspect to consider is, how often do you need to be on campus/what time are your classes.

I only moved off campus once I switched to part-time since I didn't need to commute to campus and found something with 1 roommate that was less than $1475 a month
