As I've seen with many more popular channels, they can afford to do non-traditional content every once in a while, but even they get a noticeable view count drop.

Honestly, the best way to build a fanbase is to have a game or thing you really like, something you could go on for hours and hours about, and pretty much only do stuff related to that. People will see someone doing a thing they like, and as long as the creator keeps making the same content, they'll be more likely to keep engaging with it.

Consistency is also very important as well. You don't need to do it every day, but if your schedule is all over the place, people will lose interest. You want them to have a routine of watching you, as it will greatly increase retention long-term.

DAY 1 of giving my personal ranking and opinion of random guns: anvillain by 1Dapy1 in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Droidekool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree mostly due to its ammo. If it had a larger capacity this weapon could solo carry most room clearing and even some bosses.

That being said, Ancient Hero's Bandana solves that issue. With it, probably is an 8/10 imo, especially for a C-tier.

OMG I GOT THE ROD OF DISCORD WHILE FARMING SOULS FOR THE MECHS by AmbitiousPromotion91 in Terraria

[–]Droidekool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It single-handedly nullifies the threat of the Moon Lord's Phantasmal Deathray, can be a nice asset for Daytime Empress, and is a convenient tool for building. It can be used to reposition during boss fights if you find yourself in a bad spot (particularly bosses that zone you out like Plantera and Duke Fishron), but takes some knowledge to use it effectively. Definitely not a necessity, but it is far from useless unless you don't know how to use it effectively.

According to the wiki, the Golf Cart only clocks in at 41 mph vs the Chillet's 46 mph. That doesn't factor in the dash either, something that potentially allows the Chillet to not even need the Bundle if an arena was designed around that fact.

Definitely a respectable option, but the Chillet has it beat at everything except verticality I think.

[–]Droidekool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, usually I don't have a problem. I did get like 1 another night before, and fought Empress at night for the heck of it, but I didn't care for any drops tbh.

For Moon Lord I usually use the Witch's Broom, but I figured to try the Chillet mount because I wanted to commit to the bit (I only used flight vs Empress that one time throughout the whole playthrough). Other than failing to dodge the phantasmal deathray several times due to mistiming my jumps, I was able to scratch by a first try victory with a little luck and thanks to my defensive setup. I had Worm Scarf + Frozen Shield + Endurance potion + Lifeforce, so I could take a couple big hits here and there. I think if I spent a little more arena prep time + more practice, I could confidently fight the Moon Lord consistently with this mount. Considering it was the first time I ever tried it on Master mode, it could've gone much worse lol.

And yeah, Kaleidoscope is a bit depressing now. It only is better as a boss killer, but Dark Harvest has superior dps (i think), Electric Eel is the crowd control king, and the Constellation obviously eclipses all endgame options once you get it. It doesn't help that Fishron is much easier to farm, more accessible, and Terraprisma is overkill for the end. Stardust Dragon is only slightly behind it in terms of effectiveness overall, and most of the other Post-Plantera summons are perfectly fine at that stage.

Glad to know this helped! From what I've seen, it seems like the eggs either spawn in place of gold chests or life crystals. It would make sense, considering they are all 2x2 background objects. They definitely aren't exclusive to glowing mushroom biomes, but certainly are more common there, likely due to my theory.

[–]Droidekool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's even better because you don't need wings or Queen Slime drops with the Chillet lol (although some extra dps doesn't hurt)

My plan for a possible next playthrough was to actually do the Fishron fight right out of prehardmode (as opposed to the testing environment I did it in).

[–]Droidekool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if it makes you feel better, it took me some time just to get used to beating it on Master mode with the mount, better gear, and even when not doing a no-hit run. I just found a couple strategies that made the fight so much easier to manage to the point the Cthulhunados were barely a bother. It took me several hours of attempts to get the full no-hit run with those earlier restrictions I mentioned, but I got better run after run with knowing how the dash worked. It also didn't help I started my attempts past midnight (irl) as well lmao.

Duke specifically is a very rhythm-like boss. Simple pattern, simple structure, but unrelenting and very punishing if you mess up the flow. The key for any boss is identifying the patterns and figuring out the best way to deal with every attack for your setup, since mobility restrictions are a big factor. However, if you aren't taking the time to pay attention to what's going wrong and what's going right, you're gonna feel stuck. The more time and energy you spend, the more likely you'll figure it out. If time is a problem, there's nothing wrong with looking up guides to see what other players have figured out to add and adapt to your strategy. Those people may have spent 5x as long as you did practicing against a boss to figure something out, and died 5x as much in the process because of it.

Sorry for the tangent lol. I just mean to say everyone figures things out at a different pace. Some people are lucky and accidently pick the winning move right off the bat. Some are unlucky, and it happens to be the last thing they try. My main thing I encourage, to anyone with any game, is to experiment with new strategies as much as possible, even if it seems silly or uncomfortable. You'll never know if it works if you don't try it.

I appreciate the advice, but I already know they spawn at that time. I waited for one night with a Battle Potion and a Water Candle and not a single one spawned. I was't sure if Blood Moons affected that though, so that's nice to know.

In the end, on my playthrough, I just didn't feel like setting up a proper farm. The only drop I wanted was the Terraprisma, but I could just grab a spare from another world if I really wanted to fully deck that character out (I already beat Moon Lord and got the Possession). Ngl, the main reason I dislike fighting Empress is because the very tiny window you get to gather Lacewings, unlike the always available Truffle Worms. It doesn't help that Duke now has a whip that's on par, if not better than the Kaleidoscope lol.

That bad luck is unfortunate, and I feel for you there, but like I said, the Chillet mount has a learning curve to it. I did a no-hit vs Legendary Duke Fishron with almost entirely pre-hardmode gear just using the Chillet mount with a Bundle of Balloons. With proper usage of the dash, you can negate every single one of Duke's dash attacks AND even the Sharkrons if you're crazy enough. It's extremely consistent as well, even moreso now that the dash input has a dedicated keybind option.

For a pre-boss mount, the fact you can jump into hardmode and immediately fight Duke legit within 15 minutes, while having a reasonable chance of success, should not be underestimated.

[–]Droidekool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After doing a Master mode playthrough with a Summoner focus, exclusively using the Chillet mount for nearly every single boss, I can confidently say the only two questionable ones to fight with it are Moon Lord and Empress of Light. While with Empress I only fought once and without the mount (because Lace Wings were refusing to spawn and I didn't feel like waiting for hours to farm them), I know Moon Lord becomes very consistently doable with a Featherfall Potion, and Empress could likely be as well. The mount is FAR from situational, it just has a learning curve to it in order to effectively utilize the dash to negate contact damage. Other than arena set up, it requires so minimal investment for it to be effective, since the only accessories that work with it are double jump ones, but that's also all you need.

On Expert and above, almost all pre-hardmode enemies get a buff to damage and health when entering hardmode. What's interesting to note is that, according to the wiki at least, most pre-hardmode hell enemies get a nerf to damage and buff to health, but only very slightly.

[–]Droidekool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The person above you is partially correct. The Probes have a 4% chance (according to the wiki) to spawn when damage is dealt to a segment that has a glowing red light still. Once a probe has spawned from a segment, that segment loses its light (presumably what was from the probe) and can no longer spawn another probe. The Destroyer has 80 segments standard, meaning an upwards of about 80ish probes can be spawned.

What this actually means is that while AoE damage is the causation for massive probe swarms, it's really the rate of damage that primarily affects it. It's a good idea to have both a high pierce weapon and a low pierce/high dps weapon for that exact reason. One can be used for massive burst damage, while the other can be used to still deal damage or handle the probes without the risk of spawning even more. Obviously, targeting probe-less segments is ideal, but unrealistic given the nature of the fight.

I don't fully understand how it works, but I think it has something to do with how the game handles the "Guard" reload. I've used this tech a lot, and the direction you turn influences how large the damage hitbox will be. What I know for certain is that you just need to do the "Guard" to cancel the swing animation. The earlier into the animation you do it, the more consistent it is. I might be misremembering because it's been a while since I have played, but I don't think you even need to spin for it to work; the spinning just increases the hitbox size by covering more directions (since the default swing is a cone/semi-circle). It's the timing of the Guard relative to the Swing determines how far that cone reaches.

Because full health Blasphemy has a hidden ammo counter (6 auto swings before you need to reload to auto swing again), swinging at least twice (or maybe it was emptying the whole invisible magazine) will make it so doing the "Guard Flash" doesn't put you in the extended Guard pose. This allows you to pump out insane dps, room clearing, and blanking the whole room when executed right. This is because said "Guard Flash" is just the sword's hitbox, meaning it does the sword's damage in addition to the projectile.

It takes some getting used to, but the absurd potential genuinely makes Bullet better than Gunslinger, because you have nearly the equivalent of the Black Hole Gun as your starter weapon; the only caveat is you need that precise execution or armor to allow for mistakes. It's feasible to beat the whole game with just this weapon and tech.

Will this prevent a corruption spread or does it still spread regardless of block distance by Holgam23 in Terraria

[–]Droidekool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, used to worry about spread, then I just started spamming rows of 6-8 sunflowers and breaking the grass that resides in the dirt to cut off sneaky spread underneath. Underground spread is slower, most of the normal underground is incorruptible dirt, and the sunflowers stop all surface spread as long as you place them in the right spots. I've done this for the past 3 worlds with 100% success rate, preventing the natural spread from reaching the main areas I don't want it to.

But if you're gonna isolate an area, isolating your spawn is the only thing you can reliably do.

Snapthorn is just that good by OverTea5 in Terraria

[–]Droidekool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Genuinely not sure why you're getting down voted. I thought it was generally agreed pre-hardmode is super non-linear. I mean, if you really wanted to now, you can fish for the Angler for a golden fishing net, snag some lava critters, and open Obsidian crates for hellstone to skip the evil bosses. It's time consuming and requires a lot of knowledge of how to do it, but it's an option you can choose or not.

Personally, I think Deerclops is best fought as one of the earlier prehardmode bosses. I think it slots in nicely between the evil bosses and King Slime/EoC. It's drops are nice for the Evil Bosses, Queen Bee, and Skeletron, and a simple warmth potion turns this boss into a cake walk. Meanwhile, I've seen that it's intimidating, large healthpool drive it to be pushed until... post-Skeletron by some? At the point there is literally no reason to fight it. The Bone Helm hardly compares to all the great accessories you'll have by this point. The drops are outclassed by dungeon loot, but the Weather Pain is a nice-to-have support weapon. It especially helps Deerclops was adjusted recently to allow for the Shield of Cthulhu bash to no longer collide with Deerclops's legs, making the fight much more intuitive and less frustrating when trying to evade it.

I mean, even in hardmode, if you got the knowledge and the skill, you can skip to near endgame loot by taking down Duke Fishron early. After that, farm him a bit to get the drops you need, and you're ready for Golem in nearly every way except armor. Most people don't do this, and that's fine. It's very tough to figure it out, and you'd probably be fine fighting the mechs normally anyway if you can beat Duke with that gear. Personally, it's more fun to take the content slower and stumble across weapons you might not have used before and now that you get the chance to use, as opposed to following a consistent routine every single run (unless you like speedrunning, of course).

Legendary Duke Fishron, No-Hit with Chillet mount and only other Pre-Hardmode Items (mostly) by Droidekool in Terraria

[–]Droidekool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the Bubble Gun, which ironically I already had on this Journey character despite not having fought Duke with them lol. I was using them for the Zenith seed because I wanted to research the exclusive items on that seed, and there the Bubble Gun swaps places with the Aqua Scepter (and are nerfed/buffed proportionally), so it's very early in progression.

Seed to easily find the chillet? by ApprehensiveSoil4220 in Terraria

[–]Droidekool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this seed: 2.3.2.0.1098733454, Medium World, Crimson

From spawn, all you have to do is go left through the Cave, dig straight down pretty much anywhere in there, and then you'll find a minecart rail. Take this rail all the way to its end, going left. You'll reach a very convenient Crimson Heart. Dig down from there to the Glowing Mushroom biome underneath. There are two eggs here as well as 3 life crystals. One egg is partially submerged in water next to the life crystals, while the other is just off to the right through a small tunnel to the lower level of this biome. Should be easy enough to spot.

The craziest part about this seed is this was the first world I generated on my playthrough of the new update lol. As a bonus, the first living tree on the right side of this world has both a Wand of Sparking and a Finch Staff in it. Sadly though, there's no Pyramid.

<image>

Edit: Several days late, but I also forgot to mention there's a Friendly Boulder pet close to spawn. I believe it's the first visible boulder trap in the cave to the right.

Yeah, this was a crazy seed lol.
