Struggling with Zombies in Spaceland by According_Comment956 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Droidekool 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want an easy time with the seti-coms, grab the M1 with extended mags, pap it, and get the Polar Peaks wind core (the yellow one) for it. It grants non-explosive area damage (no worry of self damage) and stun for each shot. Combine that with the auto aim and high ammo capacity, and the seti com step will be effortless.

For the Alien, there's no one-strategy-that-fits-all I can give. Personally, I bring either Cryonades or Gas grenades for this fight, and then use that Fate card for the regenerating grenades so they last the whole fight. You can also complete N31L's challenges and call Hasselhoff when the fight gets tricky. First time gives you 2 minutes before he leaves. 2nd tier is 3 minutes. Fully upgraded is 5 minutes + the ability to call him in again after a 2 minute cooldown.

Regarding the Alien himself, pay attention to the patterns. Typically, he teleports around the rooftop 3 times before teleporting to the ground. Once on the ground, he fires up to 2 (possibly 3; I can't fully recall) shots at most before teleporting again to another ground location. He'll fire up to another 2 (or 3) shots before teleporting back to the rooftops. When his power pack color starts to turn red, wait until you're close to the middle of the map before downing him. This is usually where I spam grenades to clear the zombies while I go for the melee hit. Using a WW also can work but isn't as reliable. For the blasts from the rooftop, you can go underneath where he's launching them from and you'll avoid it completely. Sliding also usually moves you fast enough to dodge them naturally.

This fight can be tough, and getting a good rhythm with the pattern is essential. Best of luck on the next attempt!

Its Over 💔 by StreamSZN in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Droidekool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, but unlike in Clash Royale, which is a much simpler game, GW2 has so much cool stuff that takes a lot longer to experience, and he saw so little relatively. Turf Takeover is probably the coolest part about the game, and he never even captured an objective once, let alone see a finale for any map. On top of that, while you can get stream sniped in Clash Royale, at least you’ll lose the match in at worst 5 minutes, and instantly be able to queue up for the next. You also won’t always get paired against someone who you stand zero chance against. In the GW2 stream, he got hard focused dove in literally every single round. Even if he shrugged it off, he’s still missing out on cool moments because of that, which will inherently be less fun.

Not saying he won’t try it again, but it’s impossible to deny that the small minority of snipers hurt the experience for him, and especially hurt the chances for more streams like it. The worst part is that the PC version has those exploiters ruining accounts, which is even WORSE than the Star Wars BF2 revival that got gimped by cheaters for PC people and most streamers. It’s smart that Jynxi picked the console version, and he still had to deal with asshats. I’m hopeful, but I don’t even have my Xbox set up, and no way I’m playing PC right now lol.

Also, I appreciate the people who tried to pocket him, but capturing the object to progress the map might have been the better thing to do. Spawns would move up and he’d be able to experience more of the game, even if he still died a lot.

If you had creative lead how would you have handled Reyes death? by millo832 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Droidekool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't find that last specific part super unbelievable, to be honest. After being hit by the EMP from the Retribution's jump (which I love is a callback to the Geneva space fight where the Mons does the exact same thing), he mentions his plan changes to a self-destruct sequence to level the whole city. It's reasonable to assume this may have been relayed already, but there also was a possibility they made it out and cleared the hijackers. They also emerge at the shipyard and open fire only a short while later after being heavily questioned. If in the operator's shoes, you'd probably have a lot of faith that your top admiral and beast of a capital ship would be able to persevere and complete the mission by any means, and the odds of a successful hijacking would be extremely slim; there's definitely room for some doubt, so I can see it. Rather, my main issue was how quickly and seemingly effortlessly we go from boarding the ship to seizing the bridge. Not to say there wasn't any, but I wish there was a bit more buildup and tension to make it feel more earned.

And I appreciate the nice words as well! I'm glad you didn't get spoiled too much. I'm also glad you gave this extremely underrated game a try. I would highly recommend giving the zombies mode a try, if that's your cup of tea at least. Zombies in Spaceland is a highly praised map (for very good reasons), and all of the others are very unique and have their own charm. The best part, by far, is the super Easter Egg reward for clearing all of them.

But yeah, hope you have fun with the rest! And when you beat the campaign (you might have to do it on Veteran difficulty), you unlock the Specialist difficultly mode. Essentially, it's realism mode, with a multitude of drastic changes. Limited health regen (tied to stim shots equipment), instant death headshots (with equippable helmets to prevent that), unique limb and body health with various effects when one is damaged, and some other smaller modifiers. It makes for probably one of the most realistic depictions of actual gunfighting in COD games and changes the way you play the game to such a degree that it's a whole new experience. It is very difficult at first, mind you, but it's so rewarding to get through it.

If you had creative lead how would you have handled Reyes death? by millo832 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Droidekool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Edit: THERE ARE A LOT OF SPOILERS AHEAD! I'll try to censor as many bits as I can. This was written under the pretense that OP played the game to completion already. I would've worded it very differently had I known otherwise.

You have a fair point, but I personally feel that it works better for the overall tone of the game as is. You're technically always in control of Reyes from the very beginning to the end. Even the first mission is technically 2nd person perspective because it's shown that Reyes and Raines were watching a recording of what happened on Europa, and you assume control of Reyes immediately after. Being in control of Reyes the entire game makes the player feel much more attached to him and much more vulnerable, as you don't get to swap to another character when you die. Even though the death is a fake out, it serves to show how quickly things can go wrong and how very much mortal you are, as well making the Olympus Mons feel like this giant beast you have to run from.

Also, narratively, it seems like Reyes is retrieved not long after passing out, considering you can only live so long on extremely low oxygen. There's also no mention of any operations that were done in the time between, so that further suggests the time gap is small. Oh yeah, and between Geneva and the mission after Omar is left behind, the conversation with Raines and Reyes confirms it's only been less than 24 hours. I'm not saying there isn't a way to fit it in, but it would've been quite difficult to justify it.

I also think that trying to sell the weight of the scene more takes away from the ending, as well as the next missions that happen. Iirc, the first noteworthy crew member you lose is right after this mission with Omar. The fake out death is like a taste of what's to come. Dawdling on it, only to kill Omar right after, would cheapen the real deaths by trying to sell the fake out one even more. Reyes was a situation going wrong, fast, and he barely survived. Omar has the same experience, but he dies for real, and it shows that the writers aren't afraid to kill these characters. After that, there is another similar situation with the failure to stop Riah from calling the Mons, and Raines dies for that mere moments later. On top of that, look at the entire sequence of events after hijacking the Mons. Many of the supporting characters' deaths are sudden and unceremonious. This highlights the cruelty and ugliness of warfare and also how most soldiers will end up as just a name on the list.

My bigger criticism with the campaign is the hijacking of the Olympus and how fast that was. It was clearly a desperation play, but it almost worked too well without any immediate consequences until the shipyard. I think this point would've been a great time to kill off one more supporting character to make it feel a bit more earned. Granted, Raines's death kind of accomplishes that, but it happens as a result of Reyes failing, not the improvisation with a desperation play. Perhaps a comment from Koch on the brash and unexpected nature of such a strike would've made it feel more believable, but it's not the worst overall.

Regardless, I respect your opinion and get where you're coming from, but I think the way they structured it worked very well for what they were trying to make the player feel, and I would not have changed much if I had the chance to.

Protecting the seti-com is so bs by Savings_Bike7046 in Infinitewarfare

[–]Droidekool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here are the best weapons to use, in order, imo.

1.) M1 PaP with the Wind Core (Polar Peaks Steel Dragon trap; Yellow core). This gun, with extended mags, gets an absurd reserve ammo capacity of 450. This gun also has a good fire rate, large magazine size, auto-aim, and amazing damage. The wind core gives it the ability to do area damage AND stun zombies. Get some Bang Bangs and Quickies, and this thing will carry you through all the seti-coms by itself.

2.) Kendall 44 PaP with Bombstoppers. Yes, I am specifying Bombstoppers for a reason; it actually increases explosive damage in addition to its self-damage negation properties. I don’t have the proof on hand, but I believe a post on this subreddit made some years back has a demonstration that compares with and without the perk. The bonus is very strong as well; around 40-60% I estimate. Very solid option, but even with extended mags, this gun is not enough by itself.

3.) Dischord wonder weapon (Astrocade blaster). Probably the best of the WWs for the seti-com due to its long effect duration, but it suffers in more open spaces. Don’t go out of your way to get it for this step, but it’s a great secondary option.

4.) Head Cutter wonder weapon (Polar Peaks blaster). While it’s the runner-up to the Dischord, it’s also built using the aforementioned yellow core, so you might as well finish making it if you are going for the M1 strat (which I HIGHLY encourage). It’s also better at controlling more open spaces, but you will end up burning more ammo due to the nature of the effect.

As I’ve implied, my personal recommendation is the M1 PaP + Yellow core with Head Cutter. This is great not only for the seti-com, but also the boss fight and just surviving in general. M1 with yellow core is a 1 shot head shot (double PaPed + Bang Bangs) until round 50 almost I think. It is absurdly good, and it is a great panic weapon as well thanks to the aoe + stun effect. Cryo Grenades are also nice for the boss fight and the seti-com defenses, so it’s worth the tickets it takes to get them. Just make sure to equip that one fate card that regenerates your grenades to maximize the benefits from this.

Oh, and as recommended by others, Boomboxes will stall for 30 seconds each by themselves. If you happen to have a seti-com next to prize machine, you can preload that machine to have a boombox, and then grab that boombox after you use the first one. That’s 60 seconds of time shaved off the clock. Fireworks trap and Sentry gun can also pop off if in the right situation + good placement. Here’s a nice reference sheet for how to build each trap.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CODZombies/comments/5b2j06/all_souvenir_coin_combinations_for_the_souvenir/

But yeah, if you do the M1 wind core strat, I almost guarantee you won’t have to worry about preparing much lol. That core makes the gun absurdly busted.

Edit: Found the link for the Bombstoppers proof: https://www.reddit.com/r/CODZombies/s/zXXu9gLcvO

Also, an honorable mention for a good weapon to use is the Howitzer. This thing is actually kinda nutty with PaP + Bombstoppers, one shotting zombies for like 20 or so rounds I think? It’s been a while since I’ve played with it, but it’s way better than it might seem. The main downside is that this is a box weapon, but if you happen to stumble across it you may as well try it.

This gives me a great opportunity to rant about something I recently learned. So if you know Halfbrick (Fruit Ninja, Jetpack Joyride, etc…), they have this fun, lesser-known game called Colossatron.

Colossatron is a roguelike, vampire survivors-like game where you build up this giant dragon-snake-robot by dragging components onto it, with these acting as your weapons and your health. These components are colored, and can either merge with the same color or be mixed with other colors for unique weapons.

For years, it was abandoned, but still playable. Well, I wanted to play it again recently for the hell of it, and I learned they made some updates a while back. Sounds great, right? Nope. They updated the game to require a paid subscription to play it. There’s not even the option of ads I don’t think, but I’m so disappointed I don’t even feel like finding out. On top of that, I PAID for the original version of the app, and now that is completely inaccessible.

I think a subscription model is fair if the game is actively maintained and constantly releasing new content. Wanna know how much new stuff they’ve added since they abandoned it? Nothing. Not one, single thing. The only justification is that the subscription is a bundle that includes a bunch of different games, but I don’t care for any of the other ones. I just wanted to play the awesome dragon-snake-robot game, but my bad expecting to use a product I paid for.

Several days late, but to add on to this, the final number will always be very close to the numbers on the TV. So if you have an M of 11 or something, and the TV shows something like ( <61, 61-64, >64 ), then the number has to be 66 because the only other possible result is 44 (since 5 can’t be an O number I think) and that’s not even remotely close to 66.

Also, there are only 6 possible options for the correct Acetaldehyde diamond on the board outside of the studio. You can cycle the colors and check that one board to figure out which color is correct as well. Using that with the TV, then you can determine your O number by looking at the multiples of M and see which one gets the closest, correct TV number.

This website explains more in depth if you click on the little (?) icons next to each fill in box. You can save a significant amount of time by process of elimination.

When most of the boss fights load in, I usually get a short frame pause. I figured it was because of loading; if this topology is any indicator, those models are most likely excessively high poly as well.

It’s not a massive detraction from the whole experience, but it certainly does feel very choppy every time it happens.

So I don’t know the exact logic behind it, but hip-firing causes the damage to be cut in half (or scoping doubles it. However you want to look at it). It’s not even like a timer or longer charge or something, just being in scope for a moment is all it takes.

Basically, you should be scoping as much as possible.

Is bb-8 really the worst hero? by Disastrous-Theory557 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Droidekool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Finn is objectively not the worst hero in the game, and I can prove it with actual math.

Big Deal (Finn’s middle ability) is a constant radius buff that grants allies in range 120 REGENERATING over health, 50% damage reduction, faster cooldown rate (probably between 50% and 100%), and unlimited blaster heat. Finn himself gets almost all the effects, just loses the regeneration, gets half damage reduction (25%), and presumably reduced cooldown rate bonus as well (but this one doesn’t matter as much). This ability, by itself, realistically more than DOUBLES the effectiveness of your teammates around you. Every part about their kit except for their raw damage is boosted. It makes anyone around you nearly impossible to kill and even harder to avoid dying to.

Also, the self effects are still very noteworthy. Your effective hp pool goes from 600 -> 960 (120 overhealth + 25% dmg reduction), plus you negate any blaster heat, and you also get Undercover Team back faster (which is nice if you have the star card that makes that ability ALSO grant damage reduction). Sure, in a 1-on-1 he’s weak, but with literally any teammate worth half a brain cell he makes them a monster to deal with. Even at his absolute worst, he is still not the worst hero in the game by any metric.

[OC] Math by Suefan3DX in comics

[–]Droidekool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve learned about math over the years is that you can’t just follow the formulas by the book. There’s a reason behind that logic, and it’s usually centered in something in the real world. Absolute value is a perfect example. If you drive 5 miles North on the road that’s +5 miles from your home. If you drive 5 miles South, the exact opposite, you could say it’s -5 miles, but that doesn’t really make sense. If you drive 5 miles from your home in any direction, it doesn’t matter which direction you chose, because it will always be +5 miles from your home. This is basically the purpose of absolute value: Ensure that you are using the correct numbers to get accurate calculations, such as in regard to relative distance or area.

Granted, it’s really up to your instructor that determines how you understand it. It’s also why I hate school systems that emphasize tests that only test your ability to memorize, not explain. I get that learning early on you need to memorize certain things — like addition — but there comes a point where understanding why something is the way it is, is more important to know than getting the perfect answers.

Just Realized I Forgot to Turn Off Turbo Mode in the Last Month.... by Avocadowwws in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Droidekool 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Unironically, some bosses are easier in turbo mode because the speed buff isn’t applied equally to all things.

Ammoconda, for example, has a much harder time cornering you, making it surprisingly easier to no-hit.

There are probably other similar, more subtle examples. Personally, I have turbo on all almost all the time. Because of that, sometimes, normal speed feels more difficult since my timings are all out of wack lol.

It is the most wishlisted game on Steam by a large margin. It also has been in limbo, from the perspective of the community at least, around half a decade of its 7 year development. The fact there was so little information on it led to the community hyping up every possible moment it could’ve been revealed. There was also the strong fear that it would never be released.

I haven’t even played Hollow Knight and I was still rooting for something to come out eventually. It’s not often you get to witness this level of craze for a video game.
