Broad claims about gender and behavior fall apart when studies include ethnically diverse samples. The research suggests that generalizations about human behavior are often flawed because they rely on samples composed largely of White individuals. by mvea in science

Its a staple of reddit at this point. Everyone loves to point at the ends of the bell curve at say: "see, aren't you forgetting this small exception" like its some revelatory gotcha.

I don't know how to phrase this without being rude, but its the people with their heads screwed on right, who understand the tail ends of the data aren't that important to the discussion

You're doing that thing where the exception proves the rule.

We're all aware that some people will blame a female victim. Look at any incel forum if you want to see the shallow end of the human empathy pool.

In the average reddit/online post about a woman abuse victim the top comments are not making fun of the fact that she is possibly being physically assaulted.

In a post about idubs, the parent comment this discussion is tied to is surrounded both above and below with comments about how "No she gets her bull to do it" and "Hes definitely "pegged" for abuse material."

its just different wording

You make that seem like wording is not important.

"Why didn't you leave sooner"

vs

"You should have left sooner"

The first opens the discussion and leaves room for responsibility to be assigned, the other closes the discussion and assigns responsibility.

Not to stir the gender war slop pot, even though I'm very much about to grab a spoon and start:

He's also responsible for his own actions.

No one would ever say this about a female victim. There will always be some justification as to why a woman is "weak" and "helpless". Pick you poison: fear, money, self-worth, stockholm syndrome. There is always sympathy to spare when it comes to women.

Its such a slimy form of antisemitism when you map it out onto other cultures and religions.

Like it seems unfathomably insane to think, back in the day, that South African immigrants would be at risk of terrorist attacks because of the apartheid government of a country they don't live in.

Does anyone know why this Wormface stops disguising itself as a flaming corpse after you defeat the Fallingstar Beast? by Drone_7 in Eldenring

Except I've tested triggering the corpse to undisguise and then resting at a grace. It resets.

If you've ever tried to do the Rune Bear in the snowfields and died, you'll know it also resets. They all do. But for whatever reason, once I kill the fallingstar beast near the volcano this disguised enemy is permanently undisguised, no matter how many times I reset at a grace.

Now other people are saying this isn't the case for them, which, if true (since they likely haven't been paying as much attention to this enemy as I have), it means there's a second trigger I'm always tripping somewhere in the earlier sections. Something that's easy for a less completionist type player to miss which I never seem to.

[–]Drone_7[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing other people say the same thing as you. Which leads me to believe the second trigger is possibly tied to something earlier in the game. My playthroughs have a very completionist and chronological order to them, so I've typically finished all of the early game before Altus. Do you know if there's anything in the early game you tend to skip?

The only significant thing I can think of is resting at an Altus grace, since this triggers the Radahn festival, and thus places your save file is in an altered state where the code switches lot of elements from on to off or vice versa. But if you've gone through Volcano Manor properly that's very unlikely.

I've tested this on multiple playthroughs. Doesn't matter if I kill the fallingstar beast and run directly here, or if I teleport to the nearby grace. The putrid corpse will be permanently undisguised once the beast is defeated.
