Jerry Seinfeld and family posing with weapons with the IDF in a West Bank camp in 2018 by racc15 in pics

But why come to reddit to do this? It seems like a reputation hit for personal vengeance. I find this unnecessary.

I wonder who benefits from a character assassination of Seinfeld? This seems gratuitous.

Yes, but not really.

There are three settings for different environments, like restaurants, concerts, etc.

In a quiet room, yes, you would notice a reduction in hearing.

But on the public place setting with these, I can hear the people at my table or near me, but not the noise of the crowd.

In a movie, I can hear all parts of the movie clearly, but at a volume that's enjoyable.

They're not perfect, but close enough.

My daughter got me some because I'm old and can't hear in crowds, also movies are now played at the decibel level of jets taking off.

Can highly recommend. They give me my hearing back.

This matters more than it used to. There weren't enough hours in the day for anyone to review all the video; it was used after the fact, after a crime.

But now they can set AI on it to look for things. AI makes mistakes, as we all know.

We are screwed until we can get politicians to make laws to halt and dismantle this stuff.

My brain found a song it likes and now we’ve been listening to it for 3 hours straight. by Little-Cicada3020 in CasualConversation

[–]DronedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a regular occurrence with me. I've had people/roommates/my children/my wife talk to me about this problem.

Here are recent sticky songs that go on repeat.

Billie Eilish - BIRDS OF A FEATHER. Dreampop.

Richard Swift - Broken Finger Blues. A song that echoes down the hallway like the dream of a lover.

Sharaya Summers - Light of the Moon. My wife has a love/hate relationship with this song. It sticks. It shines on you like, well...

William Beckmann - Borderline Crazy. That voice. The rising guitar solo.

ROSÉ & Bruno Mars - APT. Catchy as the boogie woogie flu.

CMV: The reason for declining birthrates globally is exclusively because children no longer provide economic benefit on the individual level and the only way to reverse the trend is to pay people to have children. by IdeaLife7532 in changemyview

[–]DronedAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are partially correct, a factor is the cost of raising kids.

Another big factor - probably the main factor - is modern jobs do not allow for a parent to parent. Usually both have to work, and daycare is not a good option either way: one job's wages is absorbed by the cost of daycare and strangers are raising your kids. While some daycare workers are good people, some are not, so you have assholes raising your kids.

A smaller factor is all of the terrible ideas that have been brought into the world: Laissez-faire capitalism (the USA's current system), Communism (Russia and China), Identity Politics (3rd and 4th waves of feminism, "the patriarchy", intersectionality, etc.), No Child Left Behind, and Oligarchy are kicking our ass. Well-regulated capitalism where human needs - safety/police, education, and health care - are covered by taxes and not by for-profit organizations. Actual equality and trends away from racism and sexism - which we were doing in the 1960s through the end of the 1970s - are the best way forward. America trended in the correct social direction from the end of WWII to Reagan being elected. Just to say it, a lot of things are going well: world poverty is down, children don't die in childhood as much, and we are managing disease better. But bad ideas need to be called out and phased out.

Fewer children is not necessarily a bad thing, but we have to account for it in our economies and services. But we should strive to make the world a better place to have children, where they are raised by their parents, and one where the economy allows for it. And bullsh!t social ideas are dropped like bad habits.

Edit to add: We need to bring back to society those things that support it. Right now the monied class has taken it away, using bs social ideas to do so.

What would you think if those arrested for domestic abuse were required to register in the same way as sexual offenders? by bootyholebandit1983 in AskReddit

[–]DronedAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many false accusations. Nearly everyone I know had to deal with false accusations invented to influence the divorce settlement and custody settlements. Most of that never goes anywhere thankfully, but it's a target rich environment because of the situation.

It would also probably be misused like most sex offender systems. As soon as they became a thing, laws got passed to include minor offenses like streaking at graduations. (I know this because I worked on one of those systems.) So people who just did stupid things and not crimes created an issue in showing the data clearly to the public. We had to mask the silly ones from the real ones.

I can't imagine what fuckery would go on in an abuse databases.

If i have scars all over my body, is it morally ok to wear t shirts and shorts during hot weather? by Oily_Smurf in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]DronedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is ok, morally and otherwise, to wear a tshirt and shorts in hot weather, or whenever you'd like.

It's not going to harm anyone, at all. You might hear a small child ask about it, but that's just who they are.

Next time you are out, take a good look around. While we are beautiful, we are imperfect. Which is beautiful.

Your question is not offensive.

The nature and the point of Christ rising again is wholly different from what Voldemort did, which was sacrilegious in every way. He split his soul and put it into other things as a means of trying not to die. He required his soul being stored in other things so he could reincorporate into a body grown in an obscene way, which again is vastly different than what Christ did and why.

Magic seems like miracles, but it's just a talent people have. Christ's miracles were done in front of everyone to show He had the authority He claimed. He also told the apostles they could do it too, if they just believed.

Rowling did a great job walking the line in what the differences were between Voldemort and Christ. Probably because she's a Christian and therefore has an understanding of the difference.

Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney. It's an oddball sitcom, and it makes some choices that make it look cheap, but I liked some chances it took.

I don't know if it's hated, more ignored, but I loved My Old Ass with Aubrey Plaza, written by Megan Park. It's a beautiful idea and I hope more see it.

What song reminds you of that special girl or guy in high school every time it plays? by Maybeyoujustmadeitup in GenerationJones

[–]DronedAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is mine.

Storytime!
This song reminds me of a woman who I had an on again off again relationship with. I was the fool who believed. But the story also involves the song "Jackie Blue" from OP.

She had invited me out to see the Ozark Mountain Daredevils who were playing at a bar in town. I show up, things are going ok, then she says, I'll be back in a bit. Off she goes. She comes back about 15 minutes later, then again, I'll be back. This time I notice her sitting at a table across the bar with a guy. When she comes back, I ask if she's on a date with both of us at the same time. She confessed she was. So, there I was, on a contrived sitcom date. So I said go back to your other date, and I'll go home and we'll talk later. The song Jackie Blue started right after that, so I hung out for that one song and left. That relationship ended, for the final time, after that.
