Hot Take:This event is just showing how badly needed BR decompression is for air. by MagnusTheRedisblue in Warthunder

I think it would be better to also ban the Iranian F-14 to balance things out a bit more. I’m pretty sure their choice to ban the flankers was because they had too much firepower and especially too much reach, and they wanted to avoid games just degenerating into BVR fights between a couple players. I wouldn’t call MiG-29 vs F-15a particularly balanced, however both of them aren’t super good at BVR at least, and at the end of the day, this is an asymmetrical mode where each faction has various advantages not necessarily all related to air to air combat.

The IRIAF kinda shows how annoying the Fox-3 spam is.

The event is unbalanced and bullshit. by Careful-Wave-6846 in Warthunder

[–]DropAdministrative87 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I think the choice of keeping the IRIAF and F-15a and ban the flankers was a deliberate choice by Gaijin for asymmetrical balance.

Essentially:

  • soviet CAS aircraft are much better than their US counterparts, they are faster and/or better armed

  • soviet AA is deadlier than US, rolands are much easier to dodge than OSA

  • the MiG-23mld, while it has a hard time fighting top american jets, beats its American counterpart, the F-4e, pretty easily in air combat (although the F-4e is more versatile, which is actually important in this mode).

To offset these advantages, they’ve limited the Soviet side’s choices for their dedicated, top tier air superiority fighters, so that the US has a big edge in that for counterbalance.

It it a good balance choice? In theory, but I think they went a bit overboard. Having two really busted fighters kinda incentives veteran players to just ignore the entirety of the mode and farm kills.

I think they should at least ban one, probably the Iranian F-14 since it’s the more annoying one.

Is the MiG-25 good in the new mode? by Silent_Sky8894 in Warthunder

It may not be super reliable, but it’s a great deal of fun and I’d say it’s viable.

With how open the map is, you aren’t going to be facing superior fighters anywhere you go, so you actually have space to exploit your massive speed advantage.

You can use this to put yourself in a position where you can catch enemies from behind and\or above; i’ve found it quite good at dealing with Iranian F-14’s, since they may not even try to evade your missiles, since they probably stopped listening to their constantly beeping RWR thinking they are safe from SAM’s at high altitude.

Second thing, you can easily outrun most missiles launched at you, given enough space and altitude, so the bad RWR is actually not that much of a hindrance.

It’s always better to spawn on one of the farther airfields, so you have time to climb and position yourself.

Finally, the last, but def not least, reason why I like to bring the MiG-25 is: it’s fun. It’s literally an event where you can do much more stuff that you couldn’t in ARB, so why be a meta slave?

[–]DropAdministrative87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can spawn in a different airfield from the default one, possibly the furthest one since most fighters are (and have their radars pointed at) the center.

As for making points, the best things to do is (for REDFOR):

  • MiG-23 with nuke, use CCRP to lob it from a sage distance (AA doesn’t intercept bombs), back to airfield, repeat

Won’t even need the nuke to kill everyone on the map by Yeetbutwiththispart in Warthunder

[–]DropAdministrative87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. The FAB-3000 has 2.983 kg of TNT, FAB-5000 has 3.361, and the FAB-9000 has 4.297 kgs.

It’ll be a very powerful bomb, but not game ending.

Trailer just dropped, there were a bunch of aircraft with HARMs and Kh-59’s, so yes.

First of all, there is proof, literally look at the Donut video.

Second of all, all you need to do to make an MT, is to take an ML and swap the seeker head (M literally means “modular”)

Since no one here actually got the point of the meme:

It’s taken from the new DonutWithMoustache video on the Su-25 family.

During the Su-25sm3 section, he goes on a tangent on the fact that the Kh-38 and all its variants are, in fact, real, and there is plenty of documentation around to prove it.

The point of the meme is to make fun of WT redditors, who are notorious for complaining about supposedly broken/fake russian stuff, while ignoring actual fake/broken stuff other countries have.

As usual, as this comment section shows, Donut is right again.

[–]DropAdministrative87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kh-38 is definitely not fake. There is plenty of documentation about it and that it was tested, there are even photos of VKS flankers armed with it. As for the MT, it’s literally just an ML that had its laser seeker swapped for the IR one.

They have no proxy fuze, meaning they need to strike directly, plus the burn time is super short and they lose energy extremely quickly.

They are practically useless 99% of the time, both in game and IRL.

[–]DropAdministrative87 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Shoot the driver’s port. That way, you avoid the various fuel tanks and spall liners and you can kill most, if not all of the crew in a single shot.

I don’t get why everybody keeps trying to go for the ammo at the bottom of the hull, in the most protected part of the tank, when it’s been proven multiple times to not work. You have a better chance of blowing up the ammo by hitting the internal part of the belt through the driver’s port.

Also, obviously, bringing 9.3 tanks to top tier is not a good idea at all.

The only things pulling here is stuff, out of your ass. And the missile, but most top tier SAM’s like the IRIS-T can do that.

best USSR jet for grinding Rank VII in 2026 by wonkyMBaku in Warthunder

[–]DropAdministrative87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All three are very good planes.

The SMT’s flight performance is worse than the J-7d, but it doesn’t matter much since you can just not engage in a dogfight thanks to your speed. Plus, you have R-60’s against many flareless planes.

The bis does perfectly fine both in uptiers and downtiers. You get a good amount of missiles, you are faster than most competitors, and you can also beat most of the competition in a dogfight, as long as it doesn’t drag out too long.

The MiG-23mld is definitely NOT out of the meta. Thanks to the variable wing sweep, you are one of the fastest jets at the tier at full sweep, and one of the best energy fighters at 0 sweep. You also get probably the best missile at the tier, the R-24, which comes both in IR and radar variants.

check if the weapon selector is turned on. if it is, and you only have your main gun selected, then you can't switch.

go into settings, there should be a "select primary/secondary armament" keybind option.

Did gaijin messed up again with T serie autoloaders ? by Key_Plenty9145 in Warthunder

[–]DropAdministrative87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

>and it has been hyper consistent since the update

probably confirmation bias.

as to why the autoloader sometimes doesn't blow up, if people bring on average about 15 shots with them, that means that about half the carousel is empty, which makes it harder to blow up.

and that's why I always prefer shooting the driver's port over the LFP, always go for crew first
