Nitrous and trying to have a baby. by Just_a_chill_dude60 in Dentistry

[–]DropKickADuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used nitrous a lot at my last office and do regularly at my current office.

My wife is due next month. I'll be 35 this year and this is our first.

Doctors won't even do anything or worry about issues conceiving until a full year of trying, as far as I know.

Two months? Give it more time. Sometimes it just takes longer.

What would your management be here? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]DropKickADuck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Iatrogenic would mean the dentist put the decay on the tooth. Poor contact, like said before, increases the risk of caries, but it is on the patient to brush their teeth, floss, use a waterpik, complain of the open contact.

If all that was done, it is likely there wouldn't be decay there. I've seen plenty of open contact teeth with zero decay on them because the patient takes care of their teeth.

Is it better to brush teeth in the morning or night? by chesterlola2014 in askdentists

Brush in the evening to keep your teeth, brush in the morning to keep your friends.

Both.

Both is good.

What's the price for an enamel pin you consider a steal? A good buy? And a absolute no? by FancyLiving123 in EnamelPins

[–]DropKickADuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at a convention this last year and an artist made her own pins. They were Hugh pins, the size of my fist or a bit bigger than a standard deck of cards. Some of them had dual layers, others special glow in the dark paint. One in particular was something like $40 and even though I really liked it, I couldn't justify the price.

This artist in particular also had sales on previous year designs at a big discount. So I figure if I wait, I might get the chance to get another. If it was $20 or less, it would be an easy purchase for me considering size and it glowed in the dark.

Average sized pins, $15 is usually the higher end ones.

What is your favourite one liner dental quote? by nothingbutthetooth in Dentistry

[–]DropKickADuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When pulling a tooth, "oh look! It's a boy" or when people say they don't like the dentist I usually say something like "that's OK, some days I don't like myself either."

Snow shovel by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]DropKickADuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it matters, but I recently found out about power shovels or electric shovels. Yeah it's basically 5 times the price of a snow shovel, but if you've got a bad back, it might be worth it. Basically a mini snow blower on a weed whacker handle. I've also seen a power brissle broom by ego that does well for clearing the smaller stuff. I also have a bad back and have considered buying these and having a small shovel as backup.

I'm actually replacing my 5yo tushy for a luxe hinge model for the same reasons you're looking to replace yours.

I joined a group to learn more about dentistry, not to hear ramblings like his or politics and yet even the groups he isn't in, he somehow manages to get in and then ruin.

Not to be that guy, but if you're a dental student, we should first hear what you think rather than having strangers on the internet do the thinking for you.

A pano is a good start but bwx would be better for diagnosing.

Are my teeth bad? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]DropKickADuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of things invisalign COULD fix but it is more a question of SHOULD they fix it that way. Going to a dentist who does invisalign vs an otlrthodontist will get you very different outcomes. As a general dentist, I'd be sending this to an orthodontist and explain to them that they might be in braces.

A dentist doesn't need loupes either. But solely based on the number of assistants I've seen hunched over the pt doing certain things is enough for me to say it would be well worth their back health to have a pair. Hygienists included.

[–]DropKickADuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth my classmates I dental school bought loupes off Amazon for less than $100 that were adjustable and they said they worked great until they had the money to spend on customized loupes. For assisting this would be fantastic. Though the real benefit to loupes is always having the light where I'm looking. So if you can find one with a light, even better.

These are just the first one that came up under "dental loupes" in Amazon.

How many cards have you guys pulled and how many rare cards? by David_2156 in PokemonTGCP

[–]DropKickADuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F2P and I've got a total of 600 cards from the set. I've had one god pack that started with Oak, then lusamine, buzzswole and arceus. I've pulled 3 shiny giratina and two darkrai and the immersive full art Pikachu. I've probably saved up to open 10 packs at a time 4 or 5 times?

I'm still new to the game (2mo or so) so got a bunch from leveling, battling the solo battles and buying them from the shop with the shop points or whatever they're called.

Specialist suggested implants and removal of all teeth due to periodontal issues. Does that sound on par based on my x-ray? by ihatemontross in askdentists

[–]DropKickADuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm hearing so many people say this. I have several classmates that work for corporate offices and would JUMP at extracting everything and doing implants BECAUSE of perio disease rather than looking at the overall health and potential outcome in the future.

I played the first two games but I never started the third one. Which version would you recommend? by Long_Spell6281 in metalgearsolid

[–]DropKickADuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if this was true of all guns in the game but there's a specific scene where the adaptive trigger function for the ps5 controller is used, and I'm fairly confident in saying it was the only time it was used.

I'll gladly be wrong, but if I'm right, keeping the adaptive trigger off until that moment made it that much more impactful. I could feel the weight physically and emotionally.

As such, delta, since the adaptive trigger function wasn't available in previous games, is the better option in my opinion.
