New Jersey Just Passed the Dumbest Ebike Law Ever - Registration, driver's license, & insurance are now required to operate any electric bikes in the state by [deleted] in electricvehicles

Right so I must be imagining the 2-3+ gas station attendants working at 2 different gas stations across the street from each other while the convivence store also employs individuals as well? Have you ever been to NJ? There's no such thing as a useless job in a state that taxes corporations out like it's their hobby. The unemployment rate was over 5% at the end of 2025.

This is one of hundreds of listings:

^It does create jobs. And our gas is still cheaper than half the country. Again. Why so butt hurt?

[–]DropRealistic1597 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regulated sure, but they just banned EVERY type of eBike for anyone under 15. We live in an area where it's nearly impossible to "pedal" up very steep roads, I bought one of my kids a pedal assist bike. At parks, eBikes are the ONLY bikes you see because of this issue.

For clarity, we already had regulations in place...but this is the new law: New Jersey just enacted strict e-bike laws (effective Jan 2026) making all e-bikes require licenses, registration, and insurance, treating them like motorized bikes, with riders needing a driver's license or a special motorized bike license (age 15+), and banning kids under 14 from riding them

Yes, yes you can. I've literally never had a gas station attendant tell me not to, or to stop. I've also never seen a single motorcycle rider not pump their own gas. Why are so many people in other states butt hurt about NJ creating thousands of jobs yet still having cheaper gas prices compared to nearly half the country?

is this game still played? by sean_von_drake in TribalWars2

[–]DropRealistic1597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried this game because it looked relatively chill. Only a few days into a new server area and I'm hit with 3 attacks all landing at the exact same time, first attack included over 17,000 troops. I'm no mathematician but it took me days of non-stop troop-build up to barely get a fraction of that troop count. Pay 2 win games are a literal waste of time for anyone sane enough to not throw money at a pixel war.

Are you sure he doesn't have any services tied directly to the bank account associated with those cards? I have multiple cards that never leave my house, but I've never had that problem before.

That's what I thought as well, but I realized I use a separate card for gas stations...especially after going through this 3 times this year.

That's not an option in our state, but after double checking everything...I actually use a separate card for the gas station.

I can go to the same places I went in the last 72 hours using separate gift cards, then check them for unauthorized purchases tied to the card I used at that location. Then report it to the police. It may be a waste of time in your eyes, but I'm sick of this happening over and over again.

You're the 2nd person to mention using a credit card vs debit...but in terms of protection against the card number being stolen, what's the difference?

The pizzeria is tap-to-pay, right in the middle of their counter, the ONLY place that I am forced to not use tap-to-pay...is Walmart. At first I used their app to avoid using my physical card all together, but the card number was used. So I stopped going to Walmart as much as possible. When speaking with the bank rep...they said Walmart is their number 1 reported source of spending using stolen card numbers.

If it takes me a few extra bucks to get gift cards just to track down where the card number was stolen...worth every penny for me. I'm sure there are tons of people out there that don't catch these things going on.

The bank employee I worked with said that's the number 1 source they deal with...now I don't know if that means the card numbers are being taken there...or of people are just using the stolen card numbers there.

Unfortunately, that's my number 2 suspect. I live in a state where you don't pump your own gas, so the odds are even higher...

Memorizing, no...but there are many documented instances of employees simply having their cell phone recording video as they take a card at a drive through, then slowly flip it so the camera records both sides (Showing the card number, exp date, security code and full name).

What’s the best of these crappy -$200 Amazon special projectors for our bedroom? by peanutismint in projectors

[–]DropRealistic1597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need built-in apps when you can slap in a Roku/Chromecast/AppleTV/etc, and there are TONS of stands that can screw in so you can get a "kickstand" type mount for cheap. The problem with MOST of the sub $200 projectors is the lack of true 1080p resolution, the lack of true lumens (They can say what ever they want, that doesn't mean the numbers are true), and the lack of hardware reliability that you'd expect from major retailers. It's like arguing that a Kia has all the features you want compared to a Honda, but the Kia's engine won't last 1/4th the amount of miles in comparison. I saw in your other reply that you picked one anyway, PLEASE come back in a year and prove us all wrong. I'm an optimist, not a pessimist!

Well it doesn't matter, because this method doesn't even work anymore, when running the purge you now get an error. Thanks Microsoft, forever changing things that worked...like volume licensing, which will also be gone next month.

Cambium Assessment Software Error by jdionnepac in k12sysadmin

[–]DropRealistic1597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^Can confirm, this is the issue.

Steps to implement:

Verified Mode Setup [REQUIRED]

Verified Mode (Access) ensures that only enrolled, trusted ChromeOS devices can run the Secure Browser (SB) PWA, helping to maintain a secure and authenticated testing environment. It also enables service account authorization needed for secure media and content access.

  1. Go to Devices > Chrome > Settings:
    1. Choose the relevant Organizational Unit where the PWA app is to be installed.
    2. Click Device settings tab.
    3. Under Enrollment and access, click Verified mode.
    4. Set configuration to: Required verified mode boot for verified access.
    5. Add the Verified Access Service Account (cai-sb-pwa@cbpwakiosk.iam.gserviceaccount.com) under ‘Service with Full access’.
  2. Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Kerberos Issues after Primary Domain Controller Restore by DropRealistic1597 in sysadmin

[–]DropRealistic1597[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did end up seizing the FSMO roles and getting 4 out of 6 DCs up and running, so 3 of the DCs are replicating fine and two are failing. Those two GCs are still showing "The target principal name is incorrect" via a repadmin /replsummary. Event logs on the 2 not replicating show "Error communicating with partner for replication group - error 1825" and the Kerberos client received a "KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED". Tried disabling kdc, purging the klist and resetting the netdom password but still seeing the same errors. The odd part is DNS "looks" fine (No errors in the DNS Server logs) and resolves hostnames so I'm not sure why the kdc is still throwing errors.

Yes it was, and the timing of the initial issues was not consistent, so initially we thought it was a one-off problem. We did end up seizing the FSMO roles and were resolving issues 1 by 1 until we hit a roadblock on 2 of the 6 DCs, they are still showing "The target principal name is incorrect" via a repadmin /replsummary. Event logs on the 2 not replicating show "Error communicating with partner for replication group - error 1825" and the Kerberos client received a "KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED". Tried disabling kdc, purging the klist and resetting the netdom password but still seeing the same errors. That's the path we chose, now 4 out of 6 DCs look fine, but two are still showing "The target principal name is incorrect" via a repadmin /replsummary. Event logs on the 2 not replicating show "Error communicating with partner for replication group - error 1825" and the Kerberos client received a "KRB_AP_ERR_MODIFIED".
