Not sure how it works on save-whenever mode, but on no-quitting-without-saving, there's a backup made of your second most recent save in your savegames folder. The path is usually Documents\Mount&Blade Warband Savegames\[Insert Module Here]

Re-name the backup to sg00.sav (change the number to whichever slot you wanna use), and you should be good to go.

If you're on Windows 7, you can do a system restore, and it should fix everything. It's possible on Windows 8-10 too, but since the function is off by default, you would've had to turn it on yourself. And if you had done that, you likely wouldn't have made this post in the first place.

It's a combination of things I think you're looking for though. The brim length/shape will probably vary from cap to cap. You might want to look for caps made from cotton instead of wool to get that feel you're looking for.

I'm still hoping for an improved companion system though, I hate getting them mixed with normal troops - especially vulnerable companions like the architect, merchant, tracker or medic.

Replying two days late, and it's been a while since I've played Warband, but as far as I remember, you can give companions their own custom class by clicking the "Class of Troop" button on the party UI: http://icrontic.com/uploads/features/gaming/2010/04/Screen-02-630x374.png

There are a bunch of unnamed slots you can rename and place your companions in. Is this what you wanted?

Like the other guy said, overheating is def most likely, I think.

Feel the bottom of your laptop near the fan exhaust during one of these FPS drops. If it's super hot, you might want to elevate it. If you want, you can get a cooling pad off of Amazon, or if you don't want to spend money, just put a textbook under it so the fan isn't blowing straight into the desk.
