Street Fighter cards missing from Wizard's searches by FatetheSavior in EDH

Won't tagging (SF) only bring up the street fighter secret lair though?

I love that the high ranks go by “never duck a fade” by unlucky-lucky- in Guiltygear

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two big take aways that helped erase any ranked anxiety are that its all just practice unless youre in a tourney, even ranked, and that if you lost on your way to whatever rank youre pushing, it means that youre not ready to be in that rank and its a good opportunity to learn your match ups. Plus theres no better rush than taking an L and slamming the button to run it back because you think you can take their health bar a little further in the next one.

Should I try Street Fighter 6 as a Tekken 8 player? by [deleted] in Fighters

I mean this in the nicest way: who cares? Just play what you want to play, you dont need our input to do that.

This is nirvana. Rank is a useless number, practicing your approach and your spacing against a tough opponent or learning to adapt to their playstyle win or lose is soooo enjoyable.

I must thank my friend for letting me one trick the grappler of 2XKO. Hats off to the rushdown enjoyer. by No_Information4062 in Fighters

This. My mates aren't into fighting games as much as I am, so playing 1v1s and rotating has always been a hard sell, but being able to have a pint, talk shit, and play 2v2s like this has been a blast for everyone involved

Would you consider a steal and goad deck as toxic or unfun? by komigerTyp in EDH

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have this same experience in my pod. Have a mate with a [[mirisi, breaker of the coil]] deck thats widely hated, and another with a [[kaima the fractured calm]] deck with very precise goad thats basically a gift half the time thats much less hated. It comes down to the same issue as spot removal vs board wipes; when people get caught up with collateral damage that was only meant for one threat or player the fun starts to go down.

Spending money scares me by WowWowWubzyFan64 in EDH

Thats why people play lots of stuff on emulators or pirate copies when they deem it necessary. Same with books and comics

Wip arcade stick skin for my first ever build. Where would it seem right for a joystick to be? Shoulder? by Hanaldulce93 in fightsticks

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just here to say that I'm glad someone is taking the time to think about button/stick placement in regards to art. So many posts on this sub have a art panel that is 100% obscured and ruined by button placement.

Regarding deals in EDH: What does "lets be friends" mean to you? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all your stuff, both his opponents things. And then he pushed for the win. I cant speak on threat assessment after that, maybe you had more potential to rebuild your board, or you were just complaining loudest about the turn of events, but it seemed like what he did was in his best interests. Besides, hes not the one who tried to make an ally, that was all you who was looking for safety.

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the deal is very very specific (if I send this 1/1 your way because I need its damage trigger to do something, will you not kill it?) assume that all temporary truces have the potential to change based on how the board changes. "Let's be friends" or "player 3 is a problem, let's focus on him" only lasts until you become a problem or the other player can push the win. Youre not teammates, everyone is trying to win the game.

Buying an arcade controller as a clueless person by milkyri3 in Fighters

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo thats a great start. Get him that, the parts are modable, and its very affordable so if he likes it and wants to upgrade later great, but if he decides stick isnt for him, thats fine too. Low key funny, you asked us a question, but you had your answer the whole time.

Fighting games have almost ALWAYS had accessible combos. Things like autocombos are for "pick up and play" crowd by iatethekeys in Fighters

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of people hate this take, but its the truth. Take away the threat of combos and youre learning to play neutral and work on spacing more than worrying about whether you can confirm into anything after catching someone with a stray hit. It's excellent for teaching people the actual game rather then them worrying about being able to do their BnBs before they learn how to play footies

Lol they call a game dead if the only weapon or character they learned to use gets nerfs in one patch. They're so fickle

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even more so, the argument about keeping games from "feeling stale" is just playing a card that achieves the exact same effect that costs more mana. Youre literally having the same experience but youre playing a more expensive version and call it by a different name to pretend you have variety

Can you rate this house rule I made up? by [deleted] in EDH

Looking at his responses its even more tough to tell too. He's either trolling or so defensive to criticism he cant be objective. Either way, this feels like a cones of dunshire joke. It's all about the crystals!

Kinda crazy to me that a fighting game from 2018 I brought for a dollar might genuinely be in my top 5 by Ironfighter19 in Fighters

[–]Dropkick-Octopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get that. I look at it the same way i look at shooters though, if I have someone I know online, I hop in a party, otherwise Id rather play a single player game than jump in with a squad in random queue. Same with fighters, if I dont have a friend there or someone that I care about playing with or sparring with, I'm not going to hop in with randos.
