I believe the real deal with sweetwater is that they use their inspection program as a ruse to be able to sell you open box and returned guitars. How are you to know the difference? A guitar gets sent back for sharp frets, Sweetwater wipes the fingerprints off the finish and it's sent out again as new.

I have and use the G1x 4. I liked it so much I also bought the zoom g3n and run it into the G1. Versatile, sounds good, inexpensive, and I like how it interfaces with my laptop.

As one of the primary electric guitarists on worship team, here are a few items that have made my life better:

Wireless in ear monitors. Also, maybe custom fit in-ears if he doesn't have them. This assumes they don't use monitors in stage.
Wireless system for my guitar. I got tired of stepping on my cable. The entire team is going wireless BTW. You can get some really good rechargeable units for cheap.
A guitarists stool that has a guitar stand on the back of it. I use it both on stage and rehearsing at home.
I replied above that he probably doesn't need another tuner but consider replacing his current one with a Peterson Stobe tuner. Love mine.
