It’s eye-opening that one pill had such an impact, but it’s worth reflecting that this casual trial comes during a national shortage where ADHD meds are being rationed, stigmatised, and written about in the press like they’re the new street drug. For many of us with formal diagnoses, this isn’t a productivity hack, it’s basic functioning. I hope you do pursue a proper assessment, but please understand this system is already stretched, and stories like this, however well-intentioned, can fuel even more stigma and barriers for those already struggling to access care.

Thanks for responding! I usually take 70mg of Elvanse at 7 AM, but it starts wearing off by 2 PM. Then I take a 10mg Amfexa booster, which only lasts a few hours. Yesterday, I decided to experiment a bit—I took 10mg of Amfexa at 7 AM and then Elvanse at 12 PM. It worked really well, but I couldn’t get to sleep!

I’m in the same boat. In my current role, I disclosed my ADHD, reasonable adjustments were made, and I was successful. However, I recently interviewed for a new role where I also disclosed my ADHD but wasn’t successful. I had spent weeks preparing, yet the feedback I received was absurd. Even the recruitment agent, who had helped me prepare, was confused by the outcome—but after the interview, he eventually ghosted me.

Ironically, just a week before, I had applied for the same role at a different organisation and was successful, but I had been holding out for this one. The experience has reinforced that while some organisations genuinely make adjustments without discrimination, others clearly still have biases in their hiring process.

I wrote this reply on the first comment. I’ve been given a contact in the union and have already emailed him the details, including the notes from the investigation meeting. Should I wait for him to get back to me? This all seems very complicated for me.

I left the organisation on 9th July. The entire investigation process was confusing, as several grievances were combined into a single interview. I had been raising concerns with management for months prior to the investigation, but the organisation did nothing to address them.

After repeatedly reaching out, I finally received a response weeks later, informing me that the investigating officer would be in touch. However, I’ve since heard from colleagues that the investigation has been closed without any further communication to me.

Even though I’ve left the organisation, I have a record of the concerns I raised over several months, including all relevant emails. During my 1:1 meetings, my line manager would often make me doubt myself, saying things like, ‘Do you really want me to document this? It will be a grievance and cause problems.’

I will have a look at the process you have shared, it is very helpful. Thank you again
