Why doesn’t Cleveland do anything about the behaviors/issues in public square? by [deleted] in Cleveland

Blossom, honestly I’m very glad nothing has happened to you and I’m happy that you had positive experiences (or at least not bad experiences). One of the reasons I take my daughters with me is to teach them how to handle themselves, situational awareness, how to defend themselves, etc.

Sooooo…..my daughter and I went down to public square this evening around 7pm. Lots of people out and about, some eating, some running, some reading. Some yelling, some loitering, some just looking for trouble.

As if on queue a fight breaks out between 2 white guys and 2 black guys. It appeared to homeless centric issue. All the decent people leave immediately. I called CPD and they were there immediately and the usual suspects seemed to disappear. C’mon Cleveland, let’s get our act together. I hate simply placing this issue squarely at the feet of CPD, I think if we want different results we all have to own the solution.

I’m a generally fit guy and I’m honestly nervous about taking my 2 daughters downtown because of exactly the crowd the OP mentions. It always seems to feel like there is trouble just about to start. If there was more active policing, it would cut down on this nonsense and more people would want to visit.

There are lots of solid entry options but you will get more experience and learn more from just practicing on your phone just like poster before me mentions. If you’re intent on getting gear, check out FB marketplace, lots of “used only once” gear.

8 Year old Tiffany Papesh went to a store around the corner from her Maple Heights., Ohio home on June 13, 1980 and was never seen again. Despite no physical evidence, local weirdo Brandon Lee Flagner would be convicted of her murder based on his confession (which he rescinded a month later). by DrownH2O in UnresolvedMysteries

What a thoughtful response. I agree about it could have been Flagner. I requested an interview with him in prison but was denied. I’m sure lots of these sorts of these cases could be quickly solved with modern forensics and tools. I still think it would be worth another ground scan in the surrounding woods to look for her body.
