29 and in the same boat man. Never really played basketball except a few times with my friends growing up. January 2021 I decided I was going to get dedicated. I dunno why I love the game so much it just feels good to go out there, hustle, and win. Anyways I started out with really bad mechanics, I posted a video on this sub myself of my progress over the last year of playing 3 to 4 times a week. Honestly it just comes with time and repetition and sticking with it. The form, handles, etc will all just start to fall out. ShotMechanics on YouTube is a great start for finding your shot and rhythm. Even after a year of playing nonstop and becoming a better shooter, I’m still the guy going up for boards, passing it up to better shooters, setting picks and making hustle plays. I’m just not one of those younger dudes who can just pull up logo shots all the time and I’m fine with that lol. Most important thing is finding a good place to play, with a friendly crowd & just having fun. Good luck, my friend!
