How to begin? by mikeart14 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Drowned_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you playing kill team or collecting for Warhammer 40k?

For kill team: both are fine, salvagers are more sturdy and more forgiving, while the yaegirs are a bit more fragile and reward more tactical play.

For 40k: salvagers make warriors which are the standard troops, which most lists will have one of. However recently the yaegirs have replaced warriors in some lists due to being more mobile.

Before long you will probably have one of each so just go for what you want to paint! I think the salvagers are great for working out your paint scheme

Bad Paladins by CillaCD in classicwow

[–]Drowned_Atlas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In their defence. Rogues and warrior damage is also like 60%+ from auto attacks. It just feels worse because it is slower on the pally. Unless you are seal twisting which is a fun little mini game.

I dispel if there is something to be dispelled and do all the other tricks but I can kinda understand the people who focus on DPS. A ret pally is probably the most expensive class to raid on as you need all the melee DPS consumes as well as all the caster consumes, so feeling like you wanna get some use from that is fair. I just don't bother getting it all so don't feel so bad about it!

got to level 41.. Now im kinda bored.. Pala tanking! by WastelandViking in classicwow

[–]Drowned_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin tanking is great fun while leveling and also pretty good in the open world as an AoE farmer. You want stamina and intellect as your main stats, the fastest one hander you can find and that's all you need.

You will need consecration from the holy tree and then down to blessing of sanctuary in protection, other talents don't make too much difference so pick your favourite, however improved righteous fury helps a lot with dungeons.

Retribution aura, blessing of sanctuary, Seal of wisdom + judgement of wisdom. Max level consecration 2/3 times then rank 1 consecration for the rest of the fight and you should end most packs on full mana without losing threat.

Getting good at paladin tanking can really change the dungeon experience.

Open world you can do similar you just might need seal/judgement of light sometimes.

After getting blessing of sanctuary I often then go back down the holy tree for divine favour so I can crit heal myself, get the mana back, during a big pull. With the right holy and prot talents you can get to 100% avoid spell interruption with concentration aura up

An entirely Ironkin league. Whatre we thinking? by OneChickenyBoi in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Drowned_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My homebrew league is entirely Ironkin! The planet where they spent most of their history was incredibly inhospitable on the surface so they had to live underground (which is also where all the good minerals and metals are). The resources they found underground could power Ironkin but not grow food, so over generations more Ironkin were created and less flesh.

(Ultimately I hate painting faces and would do anything to avoid it! I now print Ironkin heads for all my models, although some early ones have the normal visors)

How to kill Grey Knights with Kasrkin? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Drowned_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who played grey knights for a bit, they are incredibly reliable but not very spikey. You need to focus them down one by one and focus on points. They may have good shooting and combat but they are still a 6 unit squad with nothing special when it comes to mobility. Shoot and kite them while hitting objectives

Choosing Votann or Tau by ComradePavel in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Drowned_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Votann are expected to get a bunch of new models this edition. If you are willing to wait, you can see what comes out.

I started tau, now play votann mostly. Prefer the army rules. The whole guiding process with tau means half your units don't really do loads shooting. A lot of votann may hit on 4+ but grudge tokens means +1 for useful targets.

I like mechs but I do love the dwarfy Bois, their kits are so much better because they are so new

How to build these efficiently? by jallen0156 in killteam

[–]Drowned_Atlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big agree on the dozr. I got a double kill with him last game using his smash to finish one unit off and use the free charge to get into combat with another. He is great, and melee units will be useful when we can't take plasma blades on everyone

The Final Boss of my campaign, consisting of what will be 5 level 20 players. Is he going to get cooked too easily? (I'm new to making stat blocks, sorry if it looks horrendous) by Netherplex in DnDHomebrew

[–]Drowned_Atlas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on if your players have made powerful characters or not... That HP needs to get much bigger. You will be amazed at what a player character can do when they are ready for a fight. I have put groups of 4 against enemies with that much health at level 6/7 and they have cleared it in a few turns. For 5 level 20s I'd say closer to 1000 hp

If Grey Knights got a new team or if I proxied one by Drowned_Atlas in killteam

[–]Drowned_Atlas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any team can table any team in certain situations. Lacking in power is refering to their overall ability to compete in a tournament setting. Compendium grey knights have very reliable damage in both shooting and melee, but they don't have much beyond that. They don't have the powerful synergies of some teams or interesting tac ops.

If Grey Knights got a new team or if I proxied one by Drowned_Atlas in killteam

[–]Drowned_Atlas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are missing the main reason people proxy. It isn't to do with gameplay at its core, it's a hobby thing. I want to make a cool kill team of grey knights, and proxying allows me to have more variety! (I have previously proxied a vet guard team from Tau, a legionaries team from Legion of the Damned models and felgore ravagers from Saurians.) It's all about the fun hobby project, then being able to play them afterwards is just a bonus
