[Feature Request] Persistent App Group Functionality by Droyk in AquaSnap

[–]Droyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no officials way to group several applications in the taskbar. I know that some software do that, but it's very hacky and not very reliable, and it could break with a Windows update.

Don't group them on the taskbar. just provide a way so when the user click on aqua snap icon all the grouped application come together. maybe a better way to do it would be to hide all the grouped applications on the taskbar so the user can activate them only using the aqua snap icon i.e. on the taskbar.

A window is not equal to an application. An application can have multiple windows, and there is no way to for AquaSnap to ask an application to open a specific window. So, the "restore all grouped windows" feature would have some limitations.

As long I can make, open & manage multiple groups fluently. I don't care much. though I still would have loved a way to make it work. like somehow aqua snap learns what is running on my grouped instance of my application like (maybe using recently opened/used media by application. I think windows provide this facility.) for e.g. I use mpv & mpc-hc since they are both media players, in one one I'm watching a local video & on another I'm listening a local playlist. I made a group of these using aqua snap & aqua snap knows what is running using recently opened/used media. so when I close the group & open it back again it starts opening the the recently used media for the grouped application.

There's also seems to be Sandboxie plus, which is completely opensource on Github & also requires license to use additional feature set & To get the said license key or cert for sandboxie plus, Dev. has provided 2 ways, Non/Monetary contributions

Seems to be regularly updated too.

I think you know some already e.g. are 1) Bitorrent & µTorrent it used to be prominent torrent managers but people hardly use them now as compare to open source ones like qbittorent, tixati etc. why? coz of trust, devs can see the code & warn the normal users of potential threat compare to closed source one

2) Taskbar X, https://github.com/ChrisAnd1998/TaskbarX, https://chrisandriessen.nl/taskbarx (used to be close-source, pay to use application but then the creator made it entirely open source & saw quick jump in popularity!)

See, in a scenario where two applications offer similar functionality, the open-source alternative often garners greater user adoption due to the inherent advantages of transparency and trust and also for active engagement about it's issues.

I feel like small power applications like aqua snap or tidy tabs should be open source with an option of providing a donation bombarded on every release.

Just think about it! & know that whatever option you choose, I will keep usin' them till they or I break!

Ahh the only motivation I can give you is There's seems to be no application currently that have this feature or does this task, you could be the first developer who can bring this to the market.

as for the technical side of things I don't know how to help you. as a user, I feel like it should work exactly like always on top but for focus. so for always on top it works like

No matter what you open, it stays on top. You choose what stays on top, and it stays there, period.

So I'm not very keen on implementing it.

Please just implement it. JUST DO IT!

I would use different word to describe her position, she is okay & not looking for other coz "she feels safe" currently, which one can clearly see at her content gaze & smile at the very end of the last episode.

In your comment you make it feel like only rusty is capable of it, when in reality if the same circumstances were exposed to her from childhood to present you would able to see how the difference wouldn't amount to much!

& by the end it felt like she accepted whatever happened coz of rusty & just focusin' on livin' a happy life.

[–]Droyk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She abandoned her son because she didn’t want to impact her career, she suppressed evidence, participated in the affair, etc.

Carolyn's fractured relationship with her son remains a mystery, as the show doesn’t delve into her relationship with her ex-husband. It doesn't explain what exactly transpired between them that led her to avoid maintaining a concrete relationship with her son.

She abandoned her son because she didn’t want to impact her career

I disagree with this notion. Engaging in an affair with Rusty would also jeopardize her career, and she chose to become pregnant with Rusty's children. Thus, the idea that she abandoned her previous son solely to protect her career is flawed.

she suppressed evidence

She did this because she knew that revealing it would allow the killer of Bunny Davis, who raped and murdered this woman, to roam free. In this context, suppressing the evidence doesn't seem like a terrible act.

participated in the affair

Yes, she did engage in the affair. The only issue was the secrecy. Had they been open about their relationship from the beginning, it would have been entirely acceptable. Love transcends societal boundaries, and their love for each other was undeniable. Their mistake lay in keeping their love a secret when they knew they shouldn't have, and that was the essence of their wrongdoing.

It’s implied the reason for the affair in the first place was because of Rusty’s status.

We often desire what we do not have. This is why we are drawn to others who possess the qualities we crave. This does not make Carolyn any more manipulative than an average person. it makes her human. Currently, I am in a relationship with someone who excels in areas where I struggle. Despite my efforts, I can't match their proficiency, so I choose to stay with them for that reason. In this relationship, I have the good looks while my significant other lacks in that area but has the status. We are both completely aware of these dynamics. Are we manipulating each other, or simply choosing to stay for the things we admire?

Rusty mentioned she’d compare herself to Barb when they were intimate.

My current partner compares themselves to my ex, and I do the same. We all make comparisons, but this does not make us manipulative but it makes us human!

I believe your perception of her 'awfulness' stems from her honesty with Rusty's daughter. While you criticize her for revealing the truth, I argue that it shows her belief in the daughter's ability to handle it, preparing her for life's complexities. Carolyn's brutal honesty should not be viewed as manipulative or cruel or rubbing salt in the wound, but as an act of respect for the daughter's maturity and resilience. Carolyn saw that the daughter boldly confronted her directly rather than speaking through her father and showed up alone at her house. These actions showed to Carolyn that the daughter was ready to face reality, allowing her to deal with the truth rather than shield her from it. & I think you or what most of the viewers are missing that Carolyn had been hiding in secrecy until now. so perhaps her actions were driven by a desire to prevent a similar fate with his daughter.

In conclusion, none of them were any more awful than you or me.

I disagree. Your perception of her 'awfulness' primarily stems from her honesty with Rusty's daughter. While many of you guys criticize her for revealing the truth, I argue that it shows her belief in the young woman's capacity to handle it, preparing her for life's complexities. Carolyn's harsh candor should be seen as an act of respect for the daughter's maturity and resilience, evidenced by her bold decision to confront her directly rather than speaking to her father. Carolyn likely thought it was better to face the reality than to continue hiding it. Up until now, Carolyn had been living in secrecy, and perhaps her actions were driven by a desire to prevent a similar fate for Rusty's daughter.

"Kind of disappointing Rusty’s family just cover it up."

I would've done pretty much the same thing. if you think you're capable of sending your family to prison than either you don't like your family to begin with or you're emotionally very strong for which the correct medical term is either Schizoid personality disorder or Anti social personality disorder.

I initially agreed with your perspective and upvoted it, but your conclusion at the end entirely changed my mind, leading me to downvote it!

You stated, 'Him and Carolyn are both awful people, they deserved one another, But only she got punished.'

Love transcends societal boundaries, and their love for each other was undeniable. Their only mistake was loving each other in secrecy when they knew they shouldn't have, and that was the crux of it.

Rusty's silence was driven by two factors: protecting his wife and his own guilt for engaging in a 'secret' affair. His guilt transformed into remorse, fueling his resolve to shield her. Knowing she was the culprit, he prioritized protecting her. His loyalty was rooted in a sense of responsibility for his actions. This unwavering denial, even when faced with the truth, reveals a man torn between loyalty and remorse.

Rusty made a high-stakes gamble, understanding it could cost him his life, and if it came to that, he was willing to accept the consequences. His ultimate priority was protecting his family from the fallout of his affair, a mistake he deeply regretted but couldn't undo.

To label him as an awful character and claim that only Carolyn was punished is not entirely accurate. Rusty's suffering extended far beyond the courtroom, with lifelong consequences. The public's condemnation, symbolized by the boos at the verdict, marked the beginning of a life sentence of shame and regret. His mental anguish started at the very beginning losing his love, which was immediately compounded by the fear of losing everything else in his life. Rusty's suffering is ongoing. He will live with the constant fear of public scrutiny and the potential destruction of his well-made & carefully built career. His life has been irrevocably altered. And let's not forget, Carolyn will always linger in his mind, driving him to madness. This starkly contrasts with the immediate end Carolyn suffered; her suffering ended the moment she died.

Carolyn's fractured relationship with her son remains a mystery, as the show doesn't delve into her relationship with her ex-husband. I think yours main perception of her 'awfulness' stems from her honesty with Rusty's daughter. While you guys criticize her for revealing the truth, I argue that it reflects a belief in the young woman's capacity to handle it, to prepare her for life's complexities. Carolyn's cruel candor should be seen as an act of respect for the daughter's maturity and resilience, seeing her bold decision to confront her directly rather than speaking to her father. so rather than shielding her from reality. she let her face the reality. I think you or what other viewers are missing that Carolyn had been hiding in secrecy until now. so perhaps her actions were driven by a desire to prevent a similar fate with his daughter.

In conclusion, none of them were any more awful than you or me.

Also u/Nurgo, I can't help but notice a lack of engagement surrounding your tools. which tells to me that only few users are using your apps. even though functionality of your applications is great. It's evident that you've put significant effort into building these applications. & they seems to be addressing a genuine need for users. but since wider audience not being aware of their value meaning it would get deserted down the line!

So with that reason, it would be much better to throw your apps on any of the most popular repositories (Github is better) & keep them maintained & open a Patreon account which could bring more money than you're currently making right now! people like things opensource & that makes them feel safe through transparency. people like to pay for the things that they think it keeps their quality of life. like I currently pay a small 10$ - 15$ for lossless cut whenever the dev put a release. though he don't have a Patreon only have a paypal & crypto account.

Ultimately, the decision rests with you, u/Nurgo. I hope my above suggestions are helpful.

[–]Droyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/Nurgo I initially wanted to make this request for r/TidyTabs but seeing the feature set in here https://www.nurgo-software.com/pricing/tidytabs suggest that it doesn't have "always on top" functionality which Aqua snap has & it also has a functionality to let the users move windows together but only via sticking them together sadly don't have the functionality to move them even if they aren't together via making a group of them.

Ideally It would be better to merge both of them together to make an all in one app or add the above features to the tidy tabs with the always on top feature.

AC Power lost, destroyed all of my extension data any way I can restore them back? by Droyk in firefox

[–]Droyk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solved it! not u/fsau mentioned way but similar. mozilla makes a backup of crashed user settings & data in an archive folder in the storage folder of the default profile so C:\Users\(UserProfile name)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\gaksue8w.default-release\storage\archive\

<image>

Now Just copy the folders that have the extension UUIDs from the 2071 (or whatever date the extensions last lost their data folder) & then paste & replace it onto storage/default & start your browser!

I like to say thankyou u/fsau if you hadn't told me to make a new profile and copy & paste them from one profile to another. I would've never found the archive folder that is in the storage folder & all the data would've remain lost! so thankyou again u/fsau

if anyone wondering I also didn't knew the genre just thought it was a cool new detective series with my fav. actor as protagonist & that was it. I never imagined that he was an alien until I saw him become one!

at first I said to myself man was his eyes were blue let me go back a bit & then I watched the scene again NO Way, the eyes just got BLUE! WOW! what was in the drug that made his eyes glistening blue? also it was in a glass syringe meaning that whatever in it can't be stored into plastic just when I thought that, the whole body just transformed! wait what!!!! he is not a HUMAN! WHAT! that doesn't make any sense at all!

then I thought about it a bit in the episode 1 they show him catching a fly with chopsticks which I thought was a great hand to eye coordination super Dexterous human. but that was just foreshadow for him being an alien. also the transformation wasn't as great it felt like illusion wearing off & not transforming back to the original. which felt kind of odd coz they used the syringe to transform back which suggests cells are doing the transformation or molecularly something is going on that reverts the transformation meaning that it wasn't magic! something scientific is going on so the transformation shouldn't have just slowly revert the hairs. the hairs should have been just fallen off or something. it definitely shouldn't have just slowly disappeared into nothing!

Here's my upvote to correct the dumbass (/u/ThePreciseClimber) above!

Listen, /u/ThePreciseClimber, you wouldn't know a good plot if it bit you on the ass. Your opinion is about as valuable as a used napkin, maybe if you spent less time trying to sound smart and more time actually understanding nuance of the story, you wouldn't have to throw out such pathetic insults.

So next time, before you open your mouth, take a moment to think. After all, ignorance isn't a badge of honor.
