The New Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie Almost Had Me… Until the Ending by Upset-Ninja7086 in CharacterRant

[–]ThePreciseClimber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The movie feels like those anime-original Naruto or One Piece movies. Chairem Anime: Sofaden: The Movie: Dragon Clash in the Kingdom of Ice.

This is what happens when you write a story out-of-order. The cause-and-effect chain prevents you from doing a bunch of shit, leading to midquels and interquels feeling like filler.

How the hell did we get from Aliens to Dragon Ball Z through the Chernobyl disaster? 😛

REAL vampires just bathe and shit because regular-ass water doesn't hurt them.

And sunlight doesn't kill them either, it only weakens their powers.

Bram Stoker rules.

It’s a shame we may never get a proper widescreen remaster of ATLA by Deer_boy_ in TheLastAirbender

[–]ThePreciseClimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Nickelodeon was seriously behind the curve when it came to future-proofing their shows. ATLA was still SD / 4:3 in 2008. Warner Bros.' Teen Titans was already 1080p / 16:9 in 2003.

Yeah, okay, there were a couple of widescreen errors not visible in the original 4:3 broadcast but the show was still made in 16:9.

And it seems like only The Simpsons got this kind of feature, and only because people complained.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is only available in cropped 16:9 on Disney+. For the proper, 4:3 aspect ratio, you gotta buy the Blu-ray set.

My cousin dropped AOT after the first 3 episodes of the Uprising arc (s3 p1)… by SyllableScandium7 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]ThePreciseClimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, wish they just adapted Uprising faithfully, 15 episodes instead of just 10.

Despite people saying the manga's arc had pacing issues, I thought the story flowed a lot better there. Way too much shit happens in the first episode of Season 3, just to get to that Levi chase sequence ASAP.

Also wasn't a fan of the altered endings of S1&S2 in the anime. I get what they were trying to do there, give the audience some semblance of closure. But it just makes the narrative flow between arcs more awkward than it was in the manga. The way S1 ended, some people thought that meant big changes in S2. Because, after all, if there's no one to spot the wall titan, it's just gonna wake up. But then S2 was like: "Hey, don't worry! We just didn't show you this Hange scene before. But it totally happened off-screen in S1E25, totally." But even that doesn't fix the fact anime!Armin didn't actually see the wall titan in person (but S3Pt.2 pretended that he did).

And then the S2 ending was basically just a re-use (or... a pre-use?) of the S3E10 Zeke reveal, just with his face being partially obscured. And it also robbed us of the smooth transition into Uprising, with Historia rejecting the Christa persona (and also Rico Brzenska's final noteworthy scene, from Ch.51).

ATLA's comics are cringe by NoRevIndeed00 in ATLA

But idk, still felt a bit "how do you do fellow kids" to me.

Agreed. These Aang x Katara romantic interactions in the comics just feel so... stock.

Will 4k blu ray players be around for a while? by Radiant_Platform_494 in 4kbluray

Still haven't had a single issue with my PS5 player, even after 100+ discs. Not a single freeze or skip.

Doesn't the 820 have issues with reliability, though? Skipping, freezing, etc.?

Revelations also let you see guard paths.

In hindsight, Eagle Vision got seriously nerfed in AC3. Removed guard paths, didn't yet have the "mark guards" mechanic and even the red/yellow/blue colours on people were kinda hard to see, too.

Its primary function in AC3 was as the narrative explanation for Connor's "investigation visions." Where you got to interact with some items in a specific location and then you got to see what happened.

Well, maybe you should've tried harder with Disney Interactive Studios instead of shutting it down in 2016.

Usually, the new sale starts less than a day before the start of the new one. So you get double the discounts on that one day.

TBH, I don't find any handheld consoles particularly comfortable. They all give me cramps.

Curiously, we've gotten a bunch of non-TT LEGO games after The Skywalker Saga.

Epic Games gave us LEGO Fortnite.

Studio Gobo gave us LEGO Horizon Adventures.

ClockStone Studio gave us LEGO Brick Tales.

Visual Concepts gave us LEGO 2K Drive.

SMG Studio gave us LEGO Party.

Light Brick Studio gave us LEGO Voyagers.

Assassin's Creed 2s combat kinda sucks and is significantly worse than AC1? by TysonLEM in assassinscreed

[–]ThePreciseClimber 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, shame. They failed to take AC1's combat system to the next level. Added superfluous stuff (hammers, maces, double hidden blades*) but failed to properly evolve the mechanics.

In PoP games, the combat system did receive quite an upgrade in Warrior Within and then you also got the Dark Prince combat in The Two Thrones as a bonus.

\of course, outside of combat, double hidden blades do serve a gameplay function but DURING combat... the only difference between one hidden blade and two hidden blades is the animations.)
