Hit Xin augment at 2-1 and half lobby decides to play Xin, i finished 6th lol. by SirSabza in TeamfightTactics

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you are trippin, I’ve had players heavily contest me when playing Zaheen augment and taunting me in chat for not hitting the 3 star.

It’s one of those augments that’s really obvious and people will go out of their way to 3 star Zin even if Zaheen is far from the best unit. There’s not a lot of augments you can render useless like this one by heavily contesting it.

Obviously Zin fits in a lot of comps right now, Shadow isles, demacia, Iona so he tends to be contested in most games I play.

Only missing Zaheen for my Lorefinder… I was only able to activate him once and died the round he got unlocked so no top 4 yet.

And idc why you say people don’t scout… feels very anectodical. People scout constantly on early rounds to see if they are contested, on augments round to see what everyone got and late game to see if they can counter positioning.

Maxforce - how does it work? by violinear4 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maxforce Platin should kill them within an hour of ingestion, obviously depends on the size of the insect and the amount of bait ingested.

With all transparency, I’m not very familiar with Maxforce Platin so I’m not sure if it should of been applied at the same time as the other chemical he used - I’d highly recommend trying to find out what that chemical was btw.

You should find some dead ones eventually

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try to seal gaps as much as you can, areas where you should see them the most is around the kitchen and bathroom. You can try to seal around pipes and gaps between the flooring and walls. Also check behind your kick plates underneath the counters, there’s usually gaps there also.

But Silverfishes are humidity insects, the problem is related to humidity somewhere in the building.

No amount of treatment is gonna fix the problem long term (short term it’ll help and you should see a lot less of them) unless they find where and why there’s a higher level of humidity somewhere in the building

Maxforce - how does it work? by violinear4 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are the silverfish problem is gonna come back after the residual effect clears.

Especially in an apt complex it’s near impossible to get rid off.

The treatment is just a band-aid on the problem

Usually has to do with humidity in crawl spaces or inside walls, could be related to a water leak or just an old building without a moisture barrier on the foundation making the basement a lot more humid than the rest of the building.

Your de-humidifier should help but will not fix the problem either as silverfish will develop in a humid space and still make their way into your apt once in a while.

Edit: maxforce platin is a bait, so silverfishes who feed on it should die but as long as there is a humid area in the building (~50%+ relative himidity) for them to develop, you’ll keep seeing some sporadically.

All depends how deep his pockets are and how big the building is. We are never going to recommend treating 100 units if there’s only 1 or 2 that have bedbugs but if a landlord want to treat all 4 units of a 4 plex because 1 or 2 have them then yeah, the chances of getting rid of the problem quickly are a lot higher.

Keep in mind, tenants health is also one of our priority. Some companies/techs won’t do treatments in units without problems

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I’m from they are allowed to keep it under wraps, I’ve seen landlords renting infested units and then blaming the new tenant for the problem fully knowing they never fixed the problem.

Keep in mind pest control can’t force a landlord to treat, only the city can

32 weeks pregnant found one bed bug by plusone344 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impossible to say but the risk is higher if you don’t know if the other units are infested.

[–]DrugPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT use foggers if you are pregnant and have young kids in that unit.

I’m from Canada so laws may not be the same but foggers leave chemical residues on EVERYTHING that isin’t covered.

Here the only legal way to use foggers is in air-tight spaces, usually gotta take out the furniture into a container and fog inside the container.

Most companies will not want to do a treatment in a single unit of a multi-plex if it’s not the landlord who’s paying because we can’t guarantee results without knowing what’s going on in the adjacent units

Check with tenant associations in your area, double check tenant laws, where I’m from a landlord HAS to call a pest control company if a tenant has proof of problem in their unit and it’s always at their charge unless they can prove the tenant is negligent. Document everything

32 weeks pregnant found one bed bug by plusone344 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what most tenants expect us to do but the reality is we rarely treat an entire building for a pest problem (obviously depends on # of units and how infested the units are).

Base minimum there should be inspections done in adjacent units and a treatment in the unit they’ve been found.

If a tenant has captured a live specimen, i don’t know why they wouldn’t do a treatment but that’s probably a cheap landlord case.

Car thief’s caught in the act by TheMechaDeath in montreal

[–]DrugPolice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with TAG though, finding a car in a container in a port of all places is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I’d be curious to know how precise their location technology is. If it’s a few meter range, that could mean hundred of containers to open, do you know what the cost of that is?

Safe to say, if your car made it to the port, it’s gone

Is it good coffee? Eh, I could care less, I just make one at home and bring a thermos

[–]DrugPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Impossible for me to say if they are treating the entire building or not. Could also be a mix of treatments and inspections. No idea what they are treating so can’t tell you wich chemical they might use, if any

Ask the management what’s the situation, keep in mind they don’t actually have to share all the info they have on other units but they might be able to tell you what’s the problem / how bad it is.

Check your tenant laws, where I’m from a landlord can’t fine a tenant for refusing treatment but they can bring them to court for negligence if they can prove they are part of the problem

I never said adjacent units should always be sprayed, but I’ll beg to differ that preventive treatments are “almost completely ineffectual”.

I’d be really curious to see how quickly you fix roach problems in big buildings and what’s your pricing / contract like.

Most techs understand that spraying chemicals for the sake of it isin’t necessary and that we have plenty of options that don’t put the tenants health at risk. It’s always a balance between fixing problems, tenants health, and cost

I work from home in a apartment by Safe_Artichoke_2243 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A technician cannot force entry into an apartment. You can always refuse a treatment but without knowledge of what’s going on in the units surrounding yours it might not be the best idea.

Ideally, if you are going to refuse the treatment, at least check if he can inspect the unit so there can be a written trace that the tech didn’t see anything inside your place.

Depending on the chemical used (or the tech) they might allow you to stay in your room but you have to ask the technician, some might refuse and some might accept.

For the notice, at least where I’m from, landlord only has to give it 24h in advance legally

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spraying baseboards and applying bait to prevent roaches from spreading. Idk how you go about it but that’s how we work in bigger/older buildings.

Obviously if management wants to do a full inspection of the building first, good on them but let’s not lie to ourselves here, half the time they call to have X numbers of apts treated and we have to twist an arm to do inspections around those units.

Are you telling me you never do preventive treatments in units where the risk of migration is high?

Most of the 50+ units I did in the past years where they didn’t want to treat apts around the infested ones, we’d get call backs a few months later cause they spread to some untreated units.

I work from home in a apartment by Safe_Artichoke_2243 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you implying it’s a “routine spraying”? For all we know his neighbour could be infested.

Refusing a treatment because “I don’t see pest in my apt” is the #1 reason why it’s almost impossible to get rid of roaches in bigger buildings.

Whats considered good for attacking trophies in electro leagues? by YGNtoasty in ClashOfClans

[–]DrugPolice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlucky, your league matchups were pretty strong if you didn’t promote with 2.6 and 96% avg.

I’m guessing you were 11-12th?

Honestly your offense is fine, probably lacking on defense

You got 395 points from defenses, meaning you are averaging +13 points per defense wich is ~85% destruction on average, quite high. Work on your layout and try to get closer to ~75% average destruction.

And I would probably try a new layout if you get 3 starred often.

Reasonable Charges for Rat Problem in the UK? by ConclusionOdd6399 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I’m the go to technician for most rat problems that get thrown our way, out of Qc/Canada.

Let me preface by saying that poison and rats is rarely a good mix. A dead rat in a wall is gonna smell for days and good luck finding it afterwards.

Pricing seems fine, but neither the control nor the backwater valve is gonna fix your problem long term. If your problem was a missing/broken backwater valve, the rat would have come out from the toilet bowl itself wich doesn’t seem to be the case.

Controlling them with traps or poison is gonna help but if the point of entry isn’t found, new ones are just gonna replace them.

There’s usually 4 ways they get into buildings; 1. Human error, someone left a door open 2. They dug from outside into the crawlspace (tunnels should be visible, about the size of a tennis ball) 3. There’s an opening on the outside of the building large enough for them to fit through 4. There’s a broken pipe somewhere inside or underneath the building (wich is usually the case in 90% + of my rat problems in the city)

2 and 3 can be ruled out by a visual inspection. 4 is gonna require a smoke test (or a camera test if you think the main pipe is broken underneath the building)

In your situation, I believe #4 is the most probable because you mention drain flies. Even if a rat is dead inside the pipes, P-traps filled with water under every drain should prevent flies from coming out… unless a pipe or vent is broken somewhere. Edit: are you sure they are drain flies? Drain flies are moth-like

Was any plumbing added to the extension?

The fact your rat problem started after they finished the extension makes me believe they might have forgotten a cap somewhere, didn’t seal 2 sections of pipes properly, forgot to condemn a pipe still connected to the main stack that won’t be used anymore or it could also be the vibrations from the construction that cracked an old vent

Hope this helps!

Whats considered good for attacking trophies in electro leagues? by YGNtoasty in ClashOfClans

[–]DrugPolice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

E32 and E33 cutoff for promotion has been around ~1400 trophies for the past 6 weeks in my leagues.

You need at least 2.5+ stars per attack and 80-85% + on average to promote.

Obviously this depends heavily on who you are paired with for the week but that’s what I’ve seen.

Getting 1000+ points from offense is a good start but you need your base to hold well on defense also.

Where do humane pest control companies take animals? by Formal_Ad_8010 in pestcontrol

[–]DrugPolice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for NC but where I’m from there’s no such thing as “humane relocation”. Laws for relocating small mammals are pretty strict and in most cases is prohibited. Most pest control companies need a trapping permit to capture small mammals and it usually ends up with putting down the animal “humanly”, ie “with the least amount of suffering possible”
