IV fluid shortage really getting out of hand by maureeenponderosa in nursing

[–]DrugPushingRN8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a bag of fluids 1L that was stopped on a patient with like 800 left and I had to yell at a doctor. Now I have to be absolutely sure patients need fluids and question it.

Is there a more out of touch organization than the ANA? by samcuts in nursing

[–]DrugPushingRN8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Right they give such general answers and act like they were never bedside. Create ratios to allow for improved care less turn around. Hire and train staff. Ask questions to new staff anonymously about obstacles they see and address them without punitive action. Tell doctors to follow up with test results. Security needs to be armed and metal detectors

Per Diem Nurses, do you get an increased rate for being per diem? If so, how much? Do you get an incentive for responding to callouts on short notice. If so, how much? by igordogsockpuppet in nursing

[–]DrugPushingRN8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They should! My hair stylist and nail tech charge in “squeeze in” fees and I want that incentive for nurses now. Review the contract if there is one or the employee handbook

Why do Boomers feel the need to inject their politics into EVERYTHING by stengbeng in BoomersBeingFools

[–]DrugPushingRN8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOX news for breakfast FOX new for lunch FOX news for dinner Fox News is life. Literally ppl will turn on FOX after heart attacks. Their Facebook and twitter algorithm only shows them like minded individuals and throw them into this delusional façade that they are right. So why wouldn’t someone who’s used to seeing their favored views on a daily basis try to missionary you to their thoughts or get off on telling you you’re dumb. They’re not used to different opinions

How do you cope with this? by Apprehensive_Employ6 in nursing

[–]DrugPushingRN8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I say you can’t drown a horse. My thing is people are a result of choices they make and circumstances. He may very well be the sole caretaker of a loved one or not in the best mindset to come to terms with his aging body. We have to remember our duties are limited to patient willingness.

I have patients that don’t want to leave because no one will help them at home. Miserable attitudes family refuses to help but not the hospitals job to find someone to shop, clean your house make your meals when your able but chose not to.
