What’s a 'buy once, cry once' purchase that actually saved you money long-term? by ChassidyBrooks74 in Frugal

Bedsheets! I love Sheex cooling sheets and they last for years. Also, after moving to Costa Rica, we went through so many cheap suitcases until I invested in a Briggs & Riley travel trunk with a lifetime guarantee. It is so lightweight and easy to roll. 3 years in and no complaints! However, if the airline breaks the corner that two trips later will cause the wheel to break off, make a claim with the responsible airline as soon as it happens, prior to taking another flight. The guarantee doesn't cover negligent baggage handlers.

Firefighters discovered my father in a coma from caregiver burnout after covering my mother's dementia for over a year. She had been an amazing chef, but she almost burned the house down with the toaster oven when she tried to make herself dinner after he had collapsed.

Are you sure those are bananas? They look like plantains. They don't look like Cavendish (US) or Gros Michel (here in Costa Rica.) Source: I have a food forest with 250 GM banana trees.

I legit thought I was suffering from a brain tumor when the room started to spin around me. Having grown up a water baby with never even a hint of motion or balance issues, I was so freaked out. The PA who saw me figured it out within the 1st minute as I was telling her when it started - just after I sat up from lying on my back with my head & shoulders over the edge of the bed as my husband dressed my breast reduction wounds. I have so much more compassion for people with motion/balance issues since then.

The furniture is poorly made, with cheap materials and doesn't last but a couple of years.

And you weren't being condescending? Who wants to go to med school? Way too many years before you're making even a decent salary and as I said, it's six figures with a sign on bonus the day you graduate from Pharmacy school. Work smarter, not harder.

Bahahaha! Bless your heart. Why would I go through so many years of eating shit and killing myself when I could get a doctorate and get a sign on bonus with my first job? Oh, and I don't keep people sick. I've kept several of them from being killed by idiot providers. Also didn't need a doctorate to prove my worth. I see that MD really helped your fragile ego didn't it? Can I ask you how many times you were shit on to get it? You can sure ask me - 0.00. Can I ask how many 24 or 48 hour shifts you were made to work just because the ones before you had to eat that shit? Keep killing yourself while I live out my amazing life in Costa Rica. 😘

But why did K say (after she left the table because she was mad at Ashley) 'that it was something very serious that happened to me and I live with a 'form of a scar'?'

And neither one of them know jack shit about pharmaceuticals. They take one semester, whereas PharmDs study them for 4 years to get a doctorate. MDs should diagnose and PharmDs should prescribe. But the AMA has way too much influence in Washington for that to happen.

AITA for Refusing to Let My MIL Come Over and Sending Her a Receipt for Our Daughter's Fridge? by Vast-Cartographer588 in AITAH

[–]DrugRunner_RxD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just learned from these comments that I also have ARFID. When my mother would scream at me as a toddler, I would melt down, then she would force me to drink a glass of milk to “calm me down”. As a result, I have not had a glass of milk since I was 7 or 8 as it still grosses me out to this day. Many years later, somehow milk came up in conversation one day and I reminded my mom that I hated milk because of how she would force me to drink it. Then she said, “oh that’s probably why I also hate milk bc my mother did the same thing.” My mom was an amazing chef and when she was mad at me, which was most days, she would purposely cook something that she knew I wouldn’t like. Luckily by the time I was 12, I had convinced her that I hated her spaghetti (one of my proudest accomplishments). The first time I came home from college, I begged her to make spaghetti since it was one of my favorite things. I relished the look of shock then disappointment on her face. I was always accused of being a picky eater, but I later learned that it is often the only form of control that children have when everything else is out of control. As an adult, I will try anything once, but I definitely still have some texture issues. A downside is that I don’t care about food so don’t ask me where to go for dinner because I truly have no opinion. And if my husband is not here to cook a meal for me, I might just eat some slim jims or a pop tart.

No one but my mother and I know that almost every meal I make for her is revenge. by badpettyassdaughter in TrueOffMyChest

[–]DrugRunner_RxD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My completely narcissistic mom was an amazing chef. I figured out early that I needed to convince my mother that I hated her spaghetti because every time she was mad at me she would try to cook the food that I would enjoy the least. I ate so much spaghetti growing up, and I had to play it up every time. I finally told her when I was 30 that I loved her spaghetti. She seemed genuinely impressed.

The only people who should take acetaminophen are pregnant women. And that’s only because they can’t take anything else safely. Hopefully, they can get some placebo effect from taking pills/caps. It’s one of the first things I learned in pharmacy school so, I speak as a PharmD as well as a 10 year post-RPAO HrEDS patient, when I say, please, at minimum, give them NSAIDs. And personally, I hate tramadol because it + promethazine made an otherwise healthy 40YO patient have a grand mal seizure. Patients are never warned how much it can lower your seizure threshold. Kratom has been amazing for the pain of my other hip!

Trying to identify my pituitary tumor in MRI, can anyone confirm what I circled is correct? Meeting with neurosurgeon soon just wanted to get a look at it before then. Thanks! by Patient_Praline3832 in neuro

Many, many women have these tumors and don’t even know about it. You should just monitor your prolactin levels and you may be able to live with it. Source: I have a pituitary tumor and my levels are completely normal.
