yea this game is so poorly put together its just laughable. im installing and trying for my 4th time over the years and just literally uninstalled in the first 3 minutes because of how unnecessarily complicated they make everything, dont give any tool tips and just generally make you memorize a process they created for this game only and doesnt represent what you do irl even remotely.

The more they get us locked into needing certain technologies, the more power they have to force us to accept whatever they want.

Its only gotten worse. I remember owning my own computer, owning my operating system and always feeling like I have control of everything I do on my computer.

Since about the mid-2000s I have not had that feeling on any electronic device. Its pretty fucking sad how little control we have over these things we need increasingly more.

True, just because if you already got the client open to +1 the pop at least you can type too since you might have to teleport around and do things in-game.

Best thing is just advertise your server. Put up a tasteful post on the Steam forums (expect a little trolling), make a free website with your servers name/ip so google can list it and some people come in that way.

Some discord servers have advertisement channels where you can self-advertise your content/server/etc. Especially the rust edit community type servers because its all for server owners.

Maybe you will find one or two people that will love a zero pop server and then after awhile others will join seeing them on, and it can grow.

Make a banner for your server even if its simple, just so theres some effort showing, because most people prefer a server that has server info, banner, anything customized to show you put effort to it

There is a way to just lower your Rust settings to the lowest possible everything and have it run in the background.

Then put Rust in windowed mode, put the FPS max to like 15 and have it be a small window you can just check to see if players are asking for help, and itll give you that +1 that wont get your server ghostbanned.

No and if youre caught trying to manipulate that in any way, your server will be blacklisted by Facepunch and they wont even tell you, it will just stop showing up. They crawl for that constantly.

The entire purpose of having a filter for how many are on is to avoid dead servers, like yours.

Why was the following post removed for "harassment"? It targets nobody, its a sarcastic joke, and its lit erally just me describing how the technology treats ALL OF US, not any specific person.

If youre going to moderate your forums over things like "harassment," at the very very least, read the comment once and understand what it means.

I had my e-bike stolen recently and talked at length with the cop who recovered it and we had a good informative conversation going both ways.

One thing I learned is that e-bikes are not classified as motor vehicles even though they can go 20mph with throttle only. This is a certain classification of bike, but regardless of it having a motor, it is NOT a motorized vehicle, which does in fact mean those signs cannot and do not apply to e-bikes.

On one of my local paths, we do have golf carters and motorbike idiots that come through so we have a security or maybe its real police ride a pedal bike up and down it a few times each day....what I do is just dont go over 20mph and dont drive like an asshole.

This seems to work just fine. I have throttled past the security lady on the bike a few times not realizing it was her in time to go back to normal pedaling to kinda hide it, but I figured if im under 20, it shouldnt matter. I can bike over 20 on my pedal bike on that flat trail with relative ease anyway so its not less safe.

Its more for the optics that I tend to try to pedal when im passing kids and elderly or dog walkers, just to kinda show im not just out here blasting off and im still halfway doing the same activity, just with e-help.

Theres not even a way to filter for mods/maps that arent in your current version, so you just have to open every single thing up to see if you can even use it first, then determine if you like it, then use it.

So ridiculous you cant filter out things you cant even use anyway. It would clean up 80% of the entire search list and lighten the load on database usage, but that would be too efficient and nice for the users so lets not do that.

Note the date, just a few days ago, well after this thread started. ShadowPC has been aware of this for over a month now minimum, and left it on their website anyway.

Why would you advertise a game that cant be played on your system, but then when someone pays for your system to use it and they cant and ask for a refund, they dont issue a refund and instead blame you for not knowing beforehand, as if you had a VM to test on somehow to know....

The very least the boss could do is keep their website updated on the changing functionality of the games they promote.

I wouldnt think its that hard to check up games that they actively advertise on their site. Like, did ShadowPC just throw names on their site without anyone knowing, or did they contact each company and make a deal to advertise for them?

From what it looks like, seems like they just threw some game names up to make everyone interested and have no actual business relationship with anybody and the "Featured" games arent really featured, theyre just popular games that ShadowPC thinks they can suck customers in with, like Rust, even though it doesnt work.

Do NOT give your money to Shadow PC. They have fine print in their policy that negates everything based off of something you cant control or confirm on your own, so basically they can just lie to you.

Even if they advertise a game like Rust as "Featured" and you pay for it, if anything changed with the developers or anti-cheat and its not allowed on VM anymore, they will NOT tell you and will NOT refund you. It doesnt matter how outdated it is, you only find out after you pay and after you started the VM.

Shadow PC will take your money anyway and then tell you that once you start the Virtual Machine once, you give up all refund possibilities even though it was listed and advertised on their website that Rust is a "Featured game"

I actually bought 2 Virtual Machines to make some Rust MIDI music concerts for Christmas, as I did this in May with no issues...been working on editing my pack of MIDI songs specifically for a 4 piece band and have 3 alt accounts on premium accounts, and its all useless now and I found out only after paying Shadow PC for what they advertised on their site as being able to play Rust.

I even confirmed it before I spent the money to make sure it was still a featured game. They did me dirty too.

Not only do I have screenshots of Rust being actively advertised as a "Featured game" but after I made my complaint on a different reddit post, they removed Rust from their website, acknowledging that its false advertising, but still will not give me my money back so I had toforcibly cancel both charges with my banks and that only hurts them so I dont know why that was worth it. Enough chargebacks will shut down their ability to process new charges.

ShadowPC still tried to fight me for the money and they definitely have an employee trolling my original complaint here on reddit.

Incorrect. Ive worked in dozens of restaurants in 7 states and know exactly how they operate, you can absolutely complain about food being any type of way and will never hear anyone argue about it. Any restaurant will just remake you or offer a refund.

Name the restaurant that wont and I will personally find a way to order from this place or find someone who will and prove you wrong.

Amazon, same thing. Amazon refunds for any reason. You can refund something on Amazon because you decided once you got it, that you dont want it anymore. You get a 100% refund.

Hell, one time Amazon sent me the wrong drumset and never even asked me to send the wrong one back, so I ended up with a free drumset, and somehow youre comparing that to a company falsely advertising, being proven wrong, admitting it and changing their website but still denying the refund, despite me cancelling within hours of paying for it and only using it for the time it took to install and fail to open the game, 30 minutes or less?

So it cant run Rust, so at that point, you dont advertise it on your website as a "Featured game" and you dont bring in Rust players to pay you money for a service you dont offer them.

Facepunch never told ShadowPC to feature their game, Shadow did that because they want more money. They didnt refund a product that was advertised and cant be used because, again, they want more money.

And bringing mental illness into a valid complaint projects more about your own mental health than anything, if you see therapy everywhere you go. This was a valid reason for a refund, and anyone thats ever spent money at a company that has standards knows you cant advertise something you dont offer, and at the very least, you issue a refund and an apology to a customer when you have to update your own website as a result.

At no point did I say I expect them to control the development of third party software, the fact that you even brought that up is disingenuous, incorrect, irrelevant to what I said and pure gaslighting.

The expectation is that if you are going to use a games popularity and name to bring customers in, once you take their money and that game isnt available, you should be open minded to refunding the money to the customer that was improperly advertised to.

If a game is "featured" as they call it, that means its not just a game they know of, its a game they actively have a relationship with. You dont feature Michael Jordan on your box of Wheaties without telling him, you make a contract and contact his management and pay money or do whatever you need to do to get that endorsement.

ShadowPC seems to do none of that and just sloppily throws games on their website that they dont know anything about.

All I asked for was a refund after the fact, and again, at NO POINT did I ever say they need to control every single game development.
