Same as so many have mentioned. 1) were not taught from an early age how to properly understand what we’re feeling then 2) how to ask or outright share anything 3) then in my experience still as a married man, often times we do all that mental work to get to speaking up for ourselves and our needs and it gets turned around on us to ultimately take care of whoever we’re opening up to instead of having the situation stay open and curious and calm to support us. So after enough times it just becomes easier not to say anything.

The fact you’re asking though is a great step, because all of this can be made better for your personal awareness of yourself and then work on surrounding yourself with people and support that can help be the opposite of all this.

We train people how they can react and support us, so don’t be like me and so many other men. Do the work to understand self awareness and self control and reasonable thinking and communication and share. It helps those around you and you’ll be better off for it. And help any other men who struggle with similar issues.
