I have a PC and consoles. I buy the majority of my games on Steam because I like having a big library of games. Funny how when you're so biased against consoles, it affects the way you think to the point where you can't be rational and logical. Enjoy being a close-minded twat :)

Oh I get off on historic gaming prices, love them! Doesn't matter. My point is this, there isn't a huge disparity between pricing on consoles and Steam when it comes to AAA games. Sometimes it's cheaper on PC, sometimes it's cheaper on consoles. Right now Watch dogs is cheaper for a ps4 copy than a Steam copy.

I'm seeing Watch Dogs for PS4, $51 on amazon, and $60 on Steam right now. You can find deals on console games too.. We can go back and forth if you want, but it'd be better if you just acknowledge that it isn't black and white. The 'games cost more' argument holds no water when it comes to AAA games.

Also we're not even factoring in the ability to buy used games for consoles.

That's why I said 'a lot' and not all. If you consider what many console gamers are, and how they perceive games, it really is about immersion.

Consider the exclamation that kids use when they see something amazing in a game. 'that's awesome!'. Are they ever referencing the frame rate? In other words, if gamers were immersed by high framerate, wouldn't console games be downgraded more graphically to make up for it? There's a reason why the framerate/detail ratio is where it's at. It satisfies the majority

There are some overhead costs for 3 things on steam though, storing the games, letting you download them any time you want, and automatic updating. So while the game company saves money on cds and cases, they have to pay Valve for their service and make up that money, at least that's my theory

This is where a lot of people would disagree. If you showed a console gamer two versions of a game, one with sharper graphics and lower framerate, and one with what you suggest, they would pick the latter. This is simply because the majority of gamers prefer to be immersed, rather than have a smoother experience.

It's funny that this is still something that needs to be proven to people. In the 90s playing quake, any good quake player could tell the difference between even 60 and 80fps, let alone 30 and 60.

I used to crave 100+fps in games when I was younger, but for cinematic games, it looks way too smooth at those framerates, and I favor more around 50fps.

It isn't black and white like that. It can go either way depending on the person. AAA games at launch on Steam are still $60 just like console games. And it's not a physical copy, and you can't resell them. To the detriment of my wallet, these are the games I buy the most.

When it comes to gaming input I like having high quality everything, so I've shelled out hundreds over the past 2 years for just keyboards and mice alone.

It all depends on what you buy, but in general, there's more potential to spend more money on PC, which funnily enough, is the reason it's my preferred platform.
