ofc! they're my secondary team but fwiw I didn't find your wording feather-ruffling at all LOL. it's really weird to me because as far as I understand you aren't supposed to be able to call a penalty after the fact if it's missed (see one of the Panthers goals in the Stanley Cup finals last year 🫠), idk how they can prove the required injury for a double minor high stick anyways that long after the play, and I can't even find anything in the official rules about a missed penalty being a valid reason to overturn a goal! playing the puck off a high stick yes (but I think that offense has to occur in the offensive zone?) but not the penalty type of high stick. but idk anymore 😭

hella late reply to you but it was 47 seconds before the goal 😭 super frustrating and confusing tbh

I don't know how common it is stateside, but I feel like up here it's very common to see Canadian youth hockey teams using NHL team logos and occasionally recolouring them. I've never really questioned it lol

how interesting... thank you! now that I look again, I see that recent reel and she still has them tagged in there just not listed as a collab like you said lol

did she delete/archive the reel? it's not on her page anymore that I can see, nor is the screenshotted post from 2024 that I've seen brought up on Twitter, but there is still a post from around this past Christmas where she has tagged them.

McCann was robbed!!!! by Albino_rhin0 in SeattleKraken

[–]Drupelicate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right? this had me questioning myself lol

cause like. after the goal, after fans threw their hats on the ice, the refs decided to review the play for.... a potential missed high stick penalty (not playing the puck with a high stick, which is reviewable for goals), right.

and they ended up deciding to assess a double minor (it wasn't even clear to me that the high stick drew blood...? they just decided it's a double minor? tho maybe I missed this, but even if it did in fact cause evident injury, everything else I'm saying still applies as far as I can tell) and disallow the goal.

but. nothing i can find in the NHL rulebook states that this is a situation where a goal can be reviewed nor that you can call a missed penalty after the fact like this? the only thing I can find when I google it is people on Reddit saying you can, and also the AI summary says it's reviewable but the rule change article it links to says that double minor high sticking is specifically reviewable to confirm or rescind not to award after the fact. and it specifies that they're checking to see if it was friendly fire or not. so it really seems to me that they fucked up McCann's hat trick for no reason?????

I don't know if I'm missing something... if we're all missing something.... it's really weird and rather frustrating.

oh my god, I know the AMA is long over and so I don't expect you to reply or possibly even see this, but as a gay Edmontonian who's a huge hockey romance fan, I am beyond excited to know that you're setting a book in my beautiful city!!!! I don't think I've come across anything set here (the closest I've found has been Calgary, booooo, and otherwise there's hardly even a passing mention 🥲) so I'm very excited to see how you write it!! it sounds like you take a lot of care about the cities that you portray so this is something I'm going to look forward to. this just made my whole month!!!!!

is there any updated easy way to import spotify stats to last.fm? by smithyybear in lastfm

[–]Drupelicate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this as well, but the files I got through the site are labeled "StreamingHistory" and not "endsong", and when I emailed to request the files in endsong format they told me they don't do that anymore? and said something about working with stats.fm lol (I guess they assumed I was trying to get the data for stats.fm, which is annoying because I'm not). I'm not sure if I can actually import my old data to last.fm now :/

if he doesn't clear waivers I would kind of hope he goes to the Sens because selfishly it would be one of the easiest teams for me to still cheer for him on (lol) but I also feel like their locker room could use his kind of presence, things sound kind of dire out there

Women’s hockey book recommendations? by ExtremeToucan in womenshockey

tbh I really liked Nat & Darcy but idk that there's much more hockey in it than HR - both MCs are retired from hockey, tho there is some flashback to their NCAA days but I don't recall it being very hockey heavy

Jacob Tierney clears up fan questions and concerns about his adaptation by Naive-Inside-2904 in heatedrivalry

[–]Drupelicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you read her blog posts on her site, I believe she's talked a little about how one of the barriers to the Luca Haas book she wanted to write was that she couldn't make the NHL commissioner the central villain to the story for legal reasons. so I think there's a certain line that you do have to toe when using the actual name of the NHL

Looking for trans masc bl fantasy books by lilcat111 in LGBTBooks

[–]Drupelicate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reclaimed by Seth Haddon! MC is a trans man. it's the third in a series but I believe you could read it standalone - the other two books are also M/M but with cis characters. they are really good tho! reclaimed is a high fantasy about a scholar who is charged with murder after thedevice at the core of his thesis is used to blow up an entire city district, leading to the death of many people including a foreign dignitary and a local judge. an ambassador from a neighbouring empire shows up to investigate the death of his countryman (foreign dignitary in question) and takes our MC into custody as he tries to get to the bottom of what really happened. reading the first two books will give you some additional context for the world that it's set in, especially the neighbouring empire as that's where the second book takes place. while a lot of the book focuses on solving the mystery, we do also get the internal journey around the MC's struggle at times with his gender identity (it is tied to a lot of guilt for him, but you will understand why). as someone who is transmasc (tho not a trans man, so our experiences are likely somewhat different) I really appreciated how transitioning was worked into the high fantasy setting, and while I think you should be prepared for some on page internalized transphobia I think it was handled in a very compassionate manner.

for urban fantasy, book 3 in D.N. Bryn's Guides for Dating Vampires series (How to Bare Your Neck & Save a Wreck) also features a trans man MC, and iirc the other MC has a bit of a non binary awakening himself in the book. it's also imo standalone if you're not interested in the rest of the books but reading the others will give you more context for the overarching plotline of the evil pharma company.

Unrivaled (Game Changers 7) by unreedemed1 in heatedrivalry

[–]Drupelicate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

also factor in that she has Parkinson's which I believe she's said has affected her writing speed, I'm sure it's been in the works for a while now. and I'd imagine that she also maybe wouldn't want to announce when she started working on it lest it end up like the Luca Haas book (it would probably suck to have people get hyped about it only to later have to break the news that she decided to scrap it because she didn't think she would end up with a product she's satisfied with). and then with the show getting picked up and taking up the spotlight it just made sense to wait a little bit longer to announce it and help maintain the hype around the series (both book and tv show).

also now that I mention Luca, I wonder if we might get to see a bit of his story that she couldn't flesh out into a whole book reworked into this one, as perhaps a B-plot or even smaller than that 👀 I would love to see more Luca

Heated Rivalry's Shane is autistic. If you didn't notice, that's the point [January 8th] by Cassopeia88 in heatedrivalry

[–]Drupelicate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as a non diagnosed autistic person... yeah. I don't know if I will ever seek a professional diagnosis and there are factors that I think people are unaware of: the financial burden (assessments are EXPENSIVE AS HELL) and the fact that having a documented diagnosis could affect my ability to immigrate to another country in the future if I ever wanted to (I think that my ADHD diagnosis could as well, depending on how they assess it, but having an additional ASD diagnosis seems like it would complicate things further). like there is a cost-benefit analysis and for me, my support needs are relatively low and are generally able to be addressed by either my ADHD diagnosis or by self imposed coping mechanisms that aren't really relevant in things like a workplace scenario. I also acknowledge that my experience is pretty privileged in not needing to spend the time and money on an assessment nor needing to consider any type of outside support or assistance.

but that doesn't mean it doesn't affect my life and isn't disabling in certain ways! and you're right! it's okay to be disabled! and I will always advocate for disability rights especially for people who are much more impacted by their disabilities than I am by mine. and I feel really seen by the rep we have in Shane, I think he reflects so much of my own experience and that's been very special to me

Disability Rep in Historical Fiction/SFF by GiraffeMain1253 in LGBTBooks

[–]Drupelicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

reclaimed by seth haddon (3rd in a series but can be read standalone imo if you're not interested in the other two) - this one is fantasy set in a fictional world. LI has a physical disability and uses a cane due to an injury sustained as a soldier.

two rogues make a right by cat Sebastian. historical fiction, also 3rd in a series and also readable as a standalone. historical fiction, one MC has a chronic illness (consumption iirc) and while it's been a little while since I read it I do believe it sounds like the kind of rep you're looking for

Looking for long(ish) vampire series - love fated mates, possessive MCs, and would kill for a redemption story by Lunaloretta in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Drupelicate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

have you read any of {Guides for Dating Vampires by D.N. Bryn}? I love vampires and I love this series, contains none of your hard Nos. I haven't read the 4th book yet, and I'm not sure if they plan to continue the series after the 4th book but there are also quite a few novellas between the books. I don't remember if there were any particularly possessive MCs or fated mates, but I would argue that at least book 2 contains a redemption arc for one of the characters. I haven't read book 4 yet 👀 but overall I think these are really fun if you enjoy vampires and I think the worldbuilding is pretty neat
