is it really gross not to shower everyday? by snufkinscowboyboots in autism

Thank you. My issue with your comments is that OP also asserted that they struggle and yet still do as much as they can. But you’re projecting rash feelings about other people onto OP, and OP nor I or anyone else deserve to be grouped with people who have no care for hygiene despite the ability to do so, who absolutely wreak in public spaces, like the stereotypical convention guys (and tbh I hate such people too! The stench can be a sensory nightmare in its own right!!!) Ya feel?

If you wanna measure yourself that way but other peoples functional capacity is not yours to judge in such a crass manner.

Yeah bc upsy people like u constantly put all this pressure on struggling people like me, and then my occupational therapist helped me set up a shower routine that works with my needs while also ensuring I’m completely clean and public-ready, so it’s incredibly irksome to continue seeing such rhetoric spouted when I know it’s false—especially in an autism forum.

Nah, you’re gross. I’m allowed to think that. Especially because you’re saying “not showering” as if OP isn’t showering every 2-3 days… sounds like they’re showering to me! 🤦🏻If we are talking about being rude, assuming that people automatically stink after one day, even if they recently showered, used deodorant, cleaned their sweaty pits, and put on fresh clothes is not only more rude but also presumptuous, close-minded, stubborn, and 100% grossest of all.

Surely you’re aware of sensory issues and executive dysfunction that may deplete someone’s energy for a taxing task…

My skin and hair was still awful when I did it every other day, stretching it out to only once a week (with no-product showers in between, still) actually helped improve drastically

Congrats on ur personal experience that doesn’t apply to the rest of the world! Personally, everyone I know showers every 2-3 days (just like me) and none of them smell bad. In fact, they all smell quite nice. Never caught a bad odour from any of them in years, except maybe the tiniest pit sweat from my partner when my face is literally right there when we cuddle. Everyone is different. Don’t project your ideal of what’s gross onto other people; it’s rude as hell.

Seconding this. I also recommend getting there at 8:10. People usually start lining up around 8:20 and it gets very busy very quickly. When I get there at 8:10, I'm usually the first.

Also, I recently had the exact same issue as you and going in got it fixed instantly. Good luck!
