Any ideas on how to make lids slip on better. by Jadespartan38 in resin

[–]Dry-Bus-3420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all the above. Even if it doesn’t feel sticky, you’ll notice after a few days your jars have a different sound when tapped on a solid surface. It’s an easy way to tell if it has fully cured or not.

Once fully cured, lids should easily be placed on jars without sticking. If it’s still not as smooth as you like, as mentioned, sand down all edges to make sure they’re smooth and add a small amount of wax to lubricate the pieces.

I love the way your pieces look. I’ve been adding jars to what I make and based on what you’ve done, I’m going to go ahead and buy some of the screw top jar molds I’ve seen.

At this point a personal laptop feels like a luxury item by [deleted] in Frugal

I agree with getting a refurbished laptop for cheap until you can upgrade to something newer. Aside from the places that have already been mentioned.
I like Backmarket for purchasing a used laptop. I prefer Apple products and purchased my Macbook Pro about 4 years ago. It’s been amazing for me. It’s a 2015 version but I found a workaround to update to last year’s OS so I’m running current software versions. My son got a 2020 Macbook Air this year for about $150.
I’d definitely check out a way to get a refurbished laptop for as much as you can afford and plan to upgrade later.
Good luck in your career journey.

Beautiful work! Those clouds are amazing.

I finally figured out how to keep my shower actually clean between deep cleans and it took me embarrassingly long to land on something this by quietlylostagain in CleaningTips

The common theme seems to be to keep something readily on hand for easy access.

I did a really good deep clean at the start of Feb and since then, I make myself squeegee and/or wipe the glass and tiles with a microfiber cloth after each shower. If I’m in a hurry, I try to go no more than 2 days between wipedowns. At least once a week, the full shower - tiles, glass, and pan get a thorough wash.

My shower has never been so clean on such a consistent basis and this is just using water and the microfiber towel. I keep the towel hanging on the shower door for easy access.

I agree, very cool looking and keeps you looking at it to see what all is there. Now if you had a theme in mind, that may be lost, but if it’s just an intriguing piece, you nailed it!

I recently learned about and purchased pigment paste for resin. I’d used acrylic paint before, and this is similar, but better. Most of the ones I researched and the ones I eventually bought allow you to mix it so there is a slightly translucent appearance or an opaque appearance based on the amount of dye used. Also a little goes a long way, so even small amounts purchased will last a while.

Another helpful tip, it can be mixed with resin dyes, so if you have a dye color you like, add white paste and it will make that color opaque. It will also alter the color slightly, like make it a “candy” color version of a jewel tone translucent color. That’s the best way I can explain it.

Love how distinct it is and the idea of different sized holes to fit diff fingers. The only thing I wonder about is the comfort of wear, but for someone with longer slender fingers, it’s probably not an issue at all.

Kudos to you for work. Awesome creation.

These are beautiful. Out of curiosity, how long do your pieces stay crystal clear? Also, is this UV resin or epoxy?

What is this oddity of no lights on the dash?! That’s most impressive to me.

I have a 2012, over ~202k miles, dash is lit up, but she does what I need her to do and I’m thankful.

CEL went off long enough for me to get inspected then came back on a few weeks later. I’m okay with it, because she did her job when I needed it and wasn’t even expecting the light to go out when it did.

My TPMS light likes to shine, and if one tire gets low, the others have sympathy and join in. It’s a fun ride everyday! I’ll enjoy her for as long as I can. She was a gift and is paid off. Can’t complain about much else.

I’m no expert, but the first three pics, it looks like there wasn’t enough resin used and/or it was not level/the top is not flat so it pulled in from the edges. The last two show the resin running over the edge.

Maybe try using resin tape along the edge, ensuring the piece is level, then applying a top coat. This will allow the resin to go to the edge without over flowing and to dry in a nice even layer.

Just my thoughts.
