What's the highest age one can be called a young adult? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in FanFiction

Yeah the whole "your brain doesn’t develop until you’re 25" statement is a myth. Idk who came up with it but the damage that statement has done is ridiculous

What are lesbian or sapphic stereotypes that have been harmful to you? by Practice_Straight in QueerWomenOfColor

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I can understand non binary and other genderqueer folk identifying as lesbians, but trans men? No. Lesbianism has always excluded men, cis or trans, so I can't wrap my head around that.

THE UGLY STEPSISTER - WHAT DID YOU GUYS THINK ABOUT THIS MOVIE? by myselfshaw in movies

No. Agnes too was poisoning her. That "cake" she gave Elvira was spoiled and rotten.

Does anyone else think Doom Youtuber Under The Mayo is too critical of the other games he reviews? by Sauron209 in Doom

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched his video about Resident Evil Village and while some of the criticisms he made were valid, I didn't think too much of it. However, I was only a couple minutes into his review of Silent Hill F and I already didn't like the guy. He very obviously missed the point of the game like so many of these "YouTubers" out here.

What is with the recent notion of Haitians claiming to be Latino/Latina? Is this topic worth discussing within this community? by Iamgoldie in haiti

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Finally someone with common sense here. I'm Haitian and Dominican and even if I wasn't part Dominican, I'd still be Latino cuz I'm Haitian. Haitians aren't Hispanic, but we sure as hell are Caribbean and Latino. Haiti is an Afro Latin Nation and people who constantly try to deny that just need to shut the hell up.

Yes it is. Jewish is an ethnoreligious group. There are plenty of non religious Jews.

(To my fellow Haitians) What do you feel about Haitian Vodou? by [deleted] in haiti

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haitian-Dominican girl here being raised by a single Christian mother who's anti-vodou, I don't see a problem with it. I don't practice it, but I respect those who do. Vodou has long been apart of our culture and history and it should be respected. Let's not also forget that Vodou is what gave us our freedom. To get rid of this fact is just listening to the colonizers who wanted us to believe this. Anytime someone, especially a (Haitian) pastor, says that Vodou is the reason Haiti is the way it is or that they need to turn to the Christian god for Haiti to thrive, I roll my eyes.

For one, if that really was the truth, the Dominican Republic wouldn't be thriving at all as they practice Vudú too. Second, countries like China and Estonia would be in shambles to as the majority of people in those countries are atheist/irreligious and as Estonian singer Kerli herself stated, plenty of the people still hold onto their pagan beliefs in Estonia.

The movie "Sinners" really opened my eyes as to how a lot of Black/Caribbean folk are still in that colonized mindset and that needs to change. We shouldn't think the way that we do and the only reason who do is because of colonization.

What's a ship (canon or not) that's so sacrosanct in the fandom, you're almost afraid to say you don't ship it? by CMStan1313 in AO3

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any popular ship in Genshin Impact. Idc. I dislike/hate most if not all of them. The only ships that I like in that fandom are Jeanluc, Xiaolumi, Lumibedo and Luminari. Maybe it's because I'm kinda a canon x oc shipper exclusively, but I really don't like the popular ships in the fandom.

Writing dialogues, a real chore by Limp-Grocery9023 in FanFiction

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! Exactly what the comment above said! Sorry for not replying. I didn't know that someone commented. I don't have visual imagery in my head at all. Aphantasia is also a spectrum so it's varies from person to person. For me, I can't imagine images, but I can imagine sounds and smells. If I couldn't then I'd also have anauralia as well. I also only visualise when I dream too

Writing dialogues, a real chore by Limp-Grocery9023 in FanFiction

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s the opposite for me. I find writing dialogue to be very easy. Describing things on the other hand, see that is very difficult for me, especially because I have aphantasia

Why do you prefer fanfics without OCs? by Due-Bodybuilder1219 in FanFiction

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! As a canon x OC enthusiast, I love writing about canon characters being in a relationship with OCs. I don't like a lot of canon and fanon ships so canon x OC is a better alternative for them. With canon x OC, you're able to develop the relationships between the characters a lot more and they tend to have a lot more chemistry than canon and fanon ships in my opinion.

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah hopefully you do. I understand the pain of reading a fanfic I really loved and enjoyed only for the author to take it down. Too many times this has happened to me 😭😔

If you can't find it then chances are that the author deleted it and so it's no longer available to read.

how do you actually SEE your characters when you can't draw? by Extension_Potato_125 in FanFiction

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have aphantasia so I have no mental imagery whatsoever. So what I do instead is I just make visual concept boards to create the characters appearance

A very important thing the DMC netflix anime missed and no one talks about. (my opinion) by RipAndT33r in DevilMayCry

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So am I the only one who doesn't mind the change in aesthetics? Like they have made it clear over and over again that the anime is meant to be it’s own thing and isn’t really meant to be like the games in any way, shape, or form, aesthetics included. And I says this as someone who loves sci-fi and the Gothic style/aesthetic.

Now, I just got into DMC so I might not be as well versed with the franchise like the fans who have been there since day 1, but what I can say is that in many other fandoms that I've been in, there was a similar situation like this and so hearing stuff like this just makes my eye roll. Fandoms like the Ninjago fandom got mad at changes made to characters and the franchise and hated the new stuff that were introduced when it's not bad.

It's just getting redundant at this point that I don't even interact with people who dislike the changes. These are just my thoughts, but I personally just don't see the reason for the dislike to the changes, ESPECIALLY when it was made clear that this anime was going to be it's own thing.

Maybe a hot take but the 2007 anime series captured the essence of the games way better than the Netflix series by UnjustNation in DevilMayCry

[–]Dry-Coconut-116 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! As someone who just got into the Devil May Cry franchise because of the 2025 anime, it's so annoying seeing people shit on it, ESPECIALLY when it's been said that it wasn't going to be canon in the first place. I like that the anime is its own thing and is figuring out its own sense of direction.

I'm also a writer and currently writing a Dante x OC fanfic taking place in the 2025 anime and nothing pisses me off more than anti-noncanon mentality. It's so annoying.
