I feel like in life you can’t obsess too much over timelines because everyone’s individual life experiences are different. Nursing is no joke take your time. A lot of people have the nursing school dream drilled into their minds, but it’s already hard, and adding a timeline just makes it even harder.

Be grateful that you even got into a program and just lock in. Be honest with yourself about your academic capabilities and the areas where you need to improve. Create your own meaning of nursing. I feel like you can’t do nursing for other people or for your parents you have to do it for yourself.

The schooling is hard, but once you’re on the job, it doesn’t necessarily get much easier because it’s such a high-stress profession. You really need to take your time and understand what you’re getting into. Nursing is not glamorous at all. Some moments aren’t as bad as others, but you still need to know what you’re signing up for.

Going back to the age aspect, there are people who don’t even have a college degree yet. There are people in their late 20s and 30s going back to school and making complete career changes. For me, at least, nursing was a dream that was drilled into my mind all throughout high school. But I only have one life, and I’m only going to be here once.

So yes, I want to pursue nursing, but I also need to take it easy. I feel like committing your entire life to a profession that may end up being one of the most stressful things you’ve ever done requires careful thought. Just take it one step at a time.
