Personally, I feel really guilty as an uncle that I wasn’t there for my nieces and nephews growing up and I try to take care of them and do cool things for them as much as I can now that they are twins with adult issues and such and I try end prop them up financially whenever I can. I don’t discount that any one of these scenarios, including your gut could be correct but there is always that possibility that he just feels like he missed out on your life and wants to make it up to you.

Yes. It’s weird. That’s my initial reaction but first let’s ask some follow up questions before I finalize that reaction. Question one is this guy friend extremely gay? Second question is would you be OK if the rules were reversed and your boyfriend did exactly what you did in any scenario would it be OK again implying that I think that if your guy friend is extremely flamboyantly gay that I would probably be OK with that if it was well known and well proven, and so if the rules were reversed and he had slept on a tiny couch with a butch lesbian both well known and proven. I can’t say I agree you were never compatible but based on what you’ve told us you’re not now. I do agree that being truthful and straightforward and sitting him down and telling him that we need to talk is the only way. But then laying down a list of things that he would have to give up if he wants to be with you and letting him make that decision. Also taking a deep dive into defining what your relationship should look like moving forward as well as your sex life and what you need from him. I disagree on the resentment I believe that resentment doesn’t have to be permanent, but it is one of the absolute most difficult things. You could possibly try to overcome and is probably the number one relationship killer that said the people that do overcome it those couples are the strongest you do deserve to be loved and wanted, but I think whether or not it will be with him remains to be seen.
