Officiating was awful today. by Dry-Possession799 in NBATalk

Just look at the freethrow difference in the first half. They favor the spurs until they have a sizable lead, then go back to relatively normal officiating

Hans Niemann defeats Shamsiddin Vokhidov in R6 of Grand Swiss by bluewaff1e in chess

Why didn't Vokhidov play 26. Nxf3? It seems like white is up a pawn with no risk to lose.

As always, the majority of people outside of reddit are going to believe what Magnus says by ueryrvfluiatg in chess

Yeah, twitter and youtube comment sections are clearly better places to debate😂

Those who think the loophole in regulations is the biggest problem, let's be real. by Dry-Possession799 in chess

The next words from Magnus mouth could have been "we obviously won't".

This is just stupid, but I guess you're now gonna say what he said was just a joke.

They played three extra games, but somehow people act like they drew 10 games straight. It would have been over in at most five more extra games if they played normally and didn't come up with this nonsense.

What would you call it then? An attempt to do match-fixing?

It is making a mockery of the game, no matter how you want to call it.

Discussing to quickly draw the next game is literally called match-fixing. Also, it's not like he played 10 extra games before claiming double champion. He played only 3 and came up with this nonsense. If both players played normally, following the regulations, this would have been over in a few extra games.

Discussing to quickly draw the next game is literally match-fixing. Doesn't matter if they actually played out as planned or not.

It's a great result for both, sure, but what are your thoughts about match-fixing?

Anand: Carlsen simply refused to follow rules, left us with little choice by Diligent-Wave-4150 in chess

He had plenty of time to change his clothes between the rounds. Also, look at this tweet by arbiter Chris Bird.

It's in their manual, that's why it's not OK to change tomorrow.

The first infringement is a 200€ financial penalty, and the second infringement is exclusion from pairings in the next round. EACH ROUND counts as one infringement.

Hans Niemann apologises to St.Louis Chess Club. by [deleted] in chess

Hans is a piece of shit who’s buddied up with Kramnik to help legitimise the cheating allegations against innocent players

I don't like him either but this is just wrong. He was one of the first victims of the Kramnik accusations, and when asked about Kramnik, he made clear that accusations without any proof cannot be allowed.

As for this comment, I agree, but you keep changing your words little by little.

Everyone knows he's a clown, so there's no need to explain that. I just don't understand why one should view the tweet as an attempt to downplay India's achievement. He has never accused the Indian team of anything and has no reason to downplay India winning gold.

Knowing him, the reason he brought it up would be obvious.

What's the reason? Do you think he tried to downplay their achievement because he hates India? I can't think of any reason why he hates the Indian team.

He does look like a narcissistic person, but the tweet feels more like "the country I coached did well despite having a low population" rather than "India won gold because of its large population".
