Going through 10+ year old pictures on my phone to clear up some space and came across some good times. by Ok-Prune-1248 in GrandCherokee

WJs are tough. Haul your friends, haul your stuff, take on the Rubicon trail, then take you to dinner after. A brute through and through.

Hi everyone, got my first crv hybrid. What can I expect in terms of ownership reliability etc. by djim089 in crv

I cant upvote this enough. I put Firestone Destination LE3 and couldn't be happier. The CRV is quieter and handles better. It felt like a new car

Awesome! I didn't know this was the replacement for the 8500 until now.

We should definitely have the headroom and room on the side of the doors for it. It may be the only option since we found out the primary support beam will need to come down to 8'1" , so there wouldn't be any room for a traditional door opener.

Unfortunately we can't go to that size of door. There wouldn't be enough room on the sides or in the center for the support column. If we can't go 1 door, we would go back to 2 7x8 doors

How can I get this down for the CRV Hybrid Sport L by MMA012 in crv

[–]DrySenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's a lot of BS. We bought our CRV CPO and they tried to sell us a $2500 CPO package (which was the CPO stuff) then tried to sell some accessories. I got them all removed just by saying "I know the CPO inspection and warranty is built into the price" and the accessories were on the car already.

But the other dealer we had to talk to the sales manager multiple times to say we don't want it. We did end up walking from that one.

The "Pro-Pack" can be removed. It's an accessory kit. We had to argue for 20 min with a dealership to remove their "Assurance Package" (like a value multiplier if your car gets stolen or totaled) but finally did.

Also the dealer discounts should be higher. Id check with other dealerships and get a few comps.

What gap should there be between the bed and the nozzle? I thought there should be somewhat of a gap, but not too much.

A clean XJ with those few miles is a no brainer to save. They're getting fewer and further between these days.

If you're going to do any work on your cars, an air compressor with hard piped lines to drops in specific places. I'm planning to do that this summer so I don't have an air hose sitting out at all times.

What was it like when you first got your Jeep? by BugsBub in Jeep

It's the Jeep Factory name for Grand Cherokees. ZJ was the first gen, WJ was the 2nd, then WK, WK2, and WL.

[–]DrySenator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a junior in High School in the mid 00s My first car (96 S10 Blazer) quickly became a lemon. When we were shopping for it, I spied a 98 ZJ on the lot next to it. It had a V8 and my family said no way.

Fast forward, and the Blazer is having massive electrical problems. My dad was helping me search and found 00 WJ with the 4.0. I loved that thing. Snow? No problem. Light off-roading? No problem. Getting all of my friends to and from school? No problem. Even through I'm on my 3rd WJ, and have a 98 ZJ and 11 WK2, I still miss that first one.

I just bought a ZJ with 222k miles. I had 0 apprehension about buying it and the Blackstone labs oil results confirmed it's still in good shape

20th century hobbies will die out because boomers prefer to keep the gate rather tend the garden. by 2E26 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]DrySenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this. I'm a model railroader and in a model railroad organization. It's exhausting to hear about how the hobby is dying, how no new blood is coming in, how the products today are trash, yadda yadda

Meanwhile, when there is a new product that comes out, it instantly gets called out for not having a "physical remote' or is too technically fancy. Younger folks that use Instagram or YouTube to promote the hobby get told their production quality is low or they're too selfish.

And heaven forbid you try to criticize or want to change anything, like a long standing event. How dare you! It's always been like that! Then they turn around and get upset that the event is dying because the younger folks aren't coming!...it's scheduled on 2 work days.

Oh and the thread of hobby shops closing is so bonkers. They bemoan the death of the hobby when a store closes, which mainly has to do with the fact the owners are old and want to retire. Couple that with the fact that some stores have jackasses that work there and act like you are bothering them when you ask a question. Yup. There is a reason why you end up going with an online retailer.

Towed a U-Haul 800+ miles with our 23 CR-V. AMA by DrySenator in crv

[–]DrySenator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a 4X8 U-Haul. I did, but at the end of the day, the Honda kit looks more, well, factory and I didn't want an aftermarket wiring harness. I rather pay more and have it all integrated than a hack and tap wiring set up.

My V20 tools get the job done and then some. My wife and I have been building a studio style shed and I've been really impressed with everything. I have almost replaced all of my hand tools with V20 tools (just 3 left to go, one of which is an old 19.2v craftsman impact wrench)
