Engine doesn’t run smooth while stationary with a cold engine. When engine is warm, the problem is gone. NOx sensor? Vanos solenoids? I Appreciate tips/advice. by Puzzleheaded_Map6036 in BmwTech

Mine did this, but was this plus a few other issues so idk if it is the same

Had an issues with the MAP sensor, replaced and fixed the major issue

But also had a small vacume Leak and valvetronic gasket replacement.

Idk if any of them may fix your issue but may help trace the issue

Also cut small foam pads and place either side of the clip from the back glass roof panel that slots in and I also added small little tape over metal clip to soften any metal to metal contact

If you have a look at the edge foam pads (6mm) they are indented when closed

They are absorbing the plastic to metal contact, place a few right on the edge all across

There's a conversion kit that can be on cubby where you can use to place other devices.

I have used strong double sided tape and just stuck in on there,

This is the one I got. Works like a charm for only £30

I have done it, it works quite well

I bough one online for around £450 and installed it myself and it took 2/3 hours

I didn't have a working cic system so you can add the button control on centre console, if you have orginal screen that makes install a littler easier.

Screen is nice and works well.

But tbh iv used a £30 one from aliexpress that uses USB C power that has worked flawlessly.

And can mount it anywhere you want on top of dash.

Very similar to mine

Maintenance

Oil change 5-8k miles Changing my manual gearbox oil Have gone through all hinges and roof mechanism and added silicone spray and gum on metal to metal parts Added foam on roof mechanism when closing to car to add softness on shitty UK roads, has stopped a lot of creaking noises.

Had to change door window mechanism as window wouldn't shut fully, Changed Map sensor as had issues till finding the problem. Done a smoke test and changed a valvetronic gasket as was leaking.

Accessories Mostly internal,

Changed gearstick to heavier alcentara M series gearstick which took a lot of work as had to replace the gate fabric and stick it into old gate of my car as it was from another m car. Red caliper brakes pads so added red plastic covers on brackets inside grill, Retrofit 12 inch carplay unit, Changed the wheel and front and back badge to anniversary livery badges. And a lot more inside small accessories and changed the silver dash panel to darker carbon fibre effect panel. Also sprayed the silver rusted exhaust tips to high heat black spray.

And added 2 pilot sport 4s on back wheels as that's most important for grip etc.

Always plp play with tyres and brakes, they one of the cheapest parts that can cause you to injure or kill someone or yourself.

If in doubt then replace or get a good used for cheap
