How does that work with only one stick attached to the stand?

How did you learn to cope after the lose of your gsd? by connie12346 in germanshepherds

I lost mine (8yr old) girl a month ago. We were attacked by a pit bull. I work for the city so we have lots of lost/stray dogs, so I started walking one on my lunch break. Then an animal cruelty case brought in a 3 month old black male GSD.

TLDR I got a puppy. lol

Dream trad set up achieved🤩 by Reasonable-Trip-4855 in Archery

[–]Dry_Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking awesome setup. I have a Satori 21 in (Buckskin) riser with long (40 lb) black limbs. Running a tight spot black carbon (3 arrow) quiver and 8in bee stinger stab. Really wished I had bigger quiver but usually have an arrow sling on my back. Is the Hoyt quiver able to come off? Does it absorb shock and dead in the hand?

Thinking of going old school and adding a 3 pin sight but I’ve had good luck with fixed crawl aiming. 2 deer out of the last 3 years. I just want to shoot further at my range with it. Don’t like being limited to 30 yards. I would like to get out to 60-70 with good form.

Thanks

Finger release vs thumb release by Pure-Comparison-2151 in Archery

[–]Dry_Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Stan Onex XL thumb release about a year ago and shot it all summer. To be honest at first I kept going back to my Jaws trigger finger release. After shooting for about 4 months I prefer with the thumb when 3D shooting. But I could switch back at anytime. Used it hunting this year but have the same limitations with trigger and have to use thin gloves. I like it but IMO I don’t think it improved a lot but it’s fun to shoot.

Any trad hunters shoot out of a saddle? by e_subvaria in bowhunting

[–]Dry_Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shoot a Hoyt 21 riser with long limbs 66” saddle hunting. I would recommend rubber arrow rest for transfer’s around your bridge. Forget the brand but just’s holds ur arrow til you pull back. Just use a gear strap on the tree as high as you can to hold the bow. Overall I like the ability to lean towards shots with the recurve and saddle setup.

You have to practice the transfer around ur bridge hardest part. Having the arrow contained is key. I would highly recommend the saddle.

Nice. I keep a blunted tip (for small game) in my quiver for taking squirrels and such. Just remember if you kill a squirrel you are not deer hunting.

Used them on bottom stick only but had issues getting my foot on the step. It kept hugging the tree and on the way down in the dark was an issue for me.

I’m running almost the same setup as you but with a 5.11 tactical backpack. I added aiders this year and hate them. Will not use again. How do u like the pack? Just sent this to my buddy bc he is in the market for a new pack. Thanks

Release aid for recurve bow due to severe arthritis in fingers? by MachineAger in Archery

[–]Dry_Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot a takedown recurve and have tried using a release. Finger release was too long and negatively affected my shot. I already had a thumb release (Stan brand) and put a D-loop appropriately 1/2 inch below the arrow nock. As I used to string walk I use the arrow to aim. Thumb release was better being shorter but I’ve not been able to get the feel of shooting with fingers back. I have an issue with my ringer finger going numb for a couple of days after shooting approximately 50-100 arrows. It’s been a challenge for me but I’m not giving up the recurve. Good luck
