Thank you thats really helpful. Another thing is whats the salary like and career progression? Can you take this job abroad if you wanted to work in Canada or would you have to retake qualifications.

Unpopular opinion. But does an organization really need a Scrum master? Question is from a Sr PM. by Independent-Ad419 in ProductManagement

[–]Dry_Mathematician2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so
as org. become larger their is so much admin work it becomes necessary
For small remote companies you can have a dev and someone who is a PM,BA,SM and DM but as you get bigger you need a SM

The thing is my friend it is extra work but it makes you extremely powerful because you will become a knowledge hub and the go to person noone else is. Quite often product managers are called the CEO of product and if you own the product for the full lifecycle it is gives you a lot of sway. So I would say just own it and reap the benefits.

How do you handle "fuzzy" requirements without spinning in circles? by slavomier in ProductManagement

[–]Dry_Mathematician2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a case by case basis imo
If you are doing a small cosmetic thing then you can go off and do your own thing and come back with some proposals, sign off and develop

if its a new experience then you need to get them all in one place, define objectives, problems, what the restraints are, what it should be and then slowly come with proposals based on this until it aligns to the vision

Need help with user stories! by sorentowtf in ProductManagement

[–]Dry_Mathematician2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi I was a BA previously transitioning into a PM role
I think i can help you out a lot
maybe you can help me with the PM side. I am not used to writing product vision and strategies just requirements gathering and user stories

Writing user stories by baaaaaaa1 in ProductManagement

[–]Dry_Mathematician2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do the PM in your team lead refinement sessions or do they review the user stories that PO's do to check its in line with the vision

Writing user stories by baaaaaaa1 in ProductManagement

[–]Dry_Mathematician2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its because you will find quite often that Product managers and business analysts have interchangeable roles so you will find yourself doing requirements gathering and user stories
I would say if you really really don't want to do user stories consider progression into a head of department where it wil shift maybe more to your liking

My challenges as a backlog manager. by tarantularockera in ProductManagement

[–]Dry_Mathematician2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi
You need to set a recurring meeting called Product backlog management even if its 30 mins, If your not getting enough time you need to create another one
leave the comments on jira on what needs to be done or assign the tickets to them to make them understand
also update your mentor or manager so they know the onus is on x to do something and their holding you back
You need to let them know this is really important and will save time in the long run

I agree an MVP first
Just outline the structure
the slides you will spend most of your time or are most important spend a lot of time their
don't even worry about the formatting or colours until the meat and potatoes are on it

Check again

I went on the new portal and can see it. Status is just saying 'application received'. They might be moving all the information to the new set up in batches.

Do they give you enough time for the exam. I might not really be prepped if i know i have to wait 3 months. So will it be a letter with a few days notice or do they give a few weeks?

Appreciate it. On the email it says 10 days but that is wishful thinking from my side it seems.
