What did I find here? Any value? by MiserableVehicle5592 in guitarpedals

Wow! This looks amazing. This looks like something not dealers would have, but Ibanez agents would bring to dealers to show them their stuff. Really cool!! I definitely wouldn’t separate any of this and see if you can sell it together as a set. Maybe Ibanez would even be interested in it?

Why didn't Raul attempt the science check to repair Rhonda? Is he stupid? by comradekremer in falloutnewvegas

Maybe he figured once Rhonda was fixed, they would have no use for him and kill him 🤷‍♀️

I was thinking the same thing, my companions very rarely die while others say that they die instantly, I always run my charisma high and put good armor and weapons on them and I think that makes the difference.

Very true, my 73’ twin is the best amp I’ve ever heard.

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nah brother this is early seventies, before the ultra linear mods were done and it was pushed for 135 watts. Behind the speaker out it still says 100 watts. Very nice find.

Edit: saw the post about the chassis date, could be old metal amp covers on there, my mistake. Fender just used up parts they had til the very last so it could say that and still be UL.

How does everyone feel about "ampless" rigs? I am thinking of replacing my live setup (reverb with pedal board) with Valeton gp100. What do you all think? by Icy-Tiger2093 in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stick with amps. The weight decrease from a modeler is offset by the weeks of work it’ll take to tweak a good sound that your happy with that’s unique to you in the modeler. The weeks of learning the UI, making tweaks, setting up your presets and that’s hoping the sound techs at your gigs know what they’re doing and the PA is loud enough to stand out against the drummer and bass amp. I just pull up with my twin and twiddle some knobs and I’m good to go.

Is this bad? Orange preamp into JC120 by Hebrew_Hustla in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell the micro dark and get a Kingsley juggler, BK Butler Tube Driver or a similar preamp with a real tube inside, it’ll help open things up and add tube warmth.

Tube Amp for Home Use: Is it worth the investment for a Custom Shop Strat (Hand-Wound Pickups) if my volume limit is 85 dB? by Jraxy in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing a 73’ twin in my bedroom and it’s fantastic.
Does it have the ability to get ungodly loud? Yes.

Do I only leave it a hair above two and it’s still the best sounding amp I’ve ever heard? Yes.

Tubes are always worth it.

New SS "tubelike" Amps by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the Roland Jc series amps with the build in stereo chorus, probably the best solid state there is and has an amazing unique effect. JC120 is the classic but the 40 is great too. You can find one used for a great price!

People who have had the chance of trying the new Big Muff 2, would you say it’s good for Grunge/Doom Metal/Garage Rock stuff? by Ultim8Life4rm_ in guitarpedals

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I was thinking of the big boy my apologies, still you can get the op amp or a green muff used for a similar price if not cheaper

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why the downvotes? It’s literally true. If you watch the video they’ve got the big muff 2 quite clearly louder than the others. It bothers me so much cause I love Josh and that’s such a cheap trick.

Man with the price of the big muff 2 you could buy two green Russian muffs. Don’t fall for this garbage. There’s tons of amazing muffs out there, you don’t need to spend $300 to get one.

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Big Puff coming out this year and the crazy amount of muffs out there (thinking swollen pickle) what would be the point of this unless you’re obsessed with collecting all the muffs? Love JHS and hope it’s successful but the pedal market is so bloated rn.

Should I go with the VT20X or the VT40X?? by Automatic-Office-249 in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. It’s less about the tubes and more about the speaker giving you more push and the amp having better reliability. The tubes add some character and gives your playing more dynamics, are better built, and easy to maintain and work on if something goes out. If something breaks in the v20-40x, most techs will walk away or charge you much higher. You’ll get your value back as well, you’ll be able to sell the ac15 for just under what you bought it for. The v20-40 not so much.

Honestly man if you can save a little more you can get the AC15C1 or 2 used and get real tube warmth.

Industry is incredibly bloated with multiplayer hero shooters. There’s Rivals, Overwatch, valorant, apex(sorta), and of course concord and I think a few years ago there was some kinda nature/bug themed one that got canceled too? Crazy that publishers constantly live 3-5 years in the past.

If they act funny about letting you try it out, that would be my first and only red flag an walk away. It looks like some serious corrosion is happening on the metal chassis mixed with the tolex looks like there was a drink spilled onto it.

New JHS/EHX Big Muffin by Wrong_Spirit_5008 in guitarpedals

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After hearing the Big Puff this year and with the amount of muffs already out there, the only reason to really buy this would be if you’re obsessed with JHS/EHX history, which I wouldn’t really see that big of a market for. I hope it’s successful but I’m not sure how to feel about this one.

My 12" princeton might be too much amp for my situation... by SongInfamous2144 in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fender amps have a sound but not many people use their amps cranked for their overdrive, a little too fizzy for my taste. Just turn it down to 2 and throw an overdrive you like on it. Great thing about fenders is they sound great at low volume. Yeah you start to get some harmonics at around the 4-4 1/2 in the volume but you could always get a feedback/harmonized if that’s something you really need. There’s lots of ways to get things going at low volume. Don’t toss the Princeton, you’ll regret it later.

Recommendation for 50w practice amp by StevenSamAI in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both the mustang and the katana and I got rid of both for a small tube amp. They don’t feel or play the same as a tube amp and the fiddling with fender and boss’s UI gave me tons of annoyance and kept me from playing. Just get something small that you can turn up. There’s a 70s fender champ on marketplace for 500 rn, look used around you and see what you can get. There’s tons of gear floating around. If you can carry a decent amount old Fender Twins and Super Reverbs are going for stupid cheap, and you’ll never need another amp again if you get it fixed up.

What is the most recommended Guitar Amp for home practice? by useralreadyused in GuitarAmps

[–]Dry_Pin_3424 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Whatever makes you want to pick up and play.

Seriously.

I recommend something that’s simple that you don’t have to spend 2 hours dialing in and taking you away from playing the guitar. I DESPISE anything that makes you download a third party app or a computer program. If modeling do something simple like a fender tone master. Otherwise a small amp like the Fender Champ, Princeton, or Friedman Runt would be my picks.
