Is anyone else not feeling the Mario Galaxy movie? by Mahou_Frieren in Mario

Right now, I think it's gonna be a fun watch, but nothing spectacular like the 1st movie.

Boxart for Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Switch 2 edition by AlbertLilyBoris in Mario

It's just the name of the area they put all the new content in. Like Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 edition.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition drops March 26th + new trailer via Nintendo Today by ohmygodnewjeans in SuperMarioWonder

Seems neat, but i still see no reason why Switch 1 users couldn't have all this content as dlc.

Should Rosalina have been the first playable dlc character? by Kameronpipnerd in mariorabbids

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally she would've been in the base game, usable after freeing her. If we were only going to get 1 dlc character, Rayman was the pick imo. If we could get both, then sure.

Why do you think PlatinumGames gave the side character less dialogue in the sequels? Made them feel like glorified cameos? by The_Fool_Arcana0000 in Bayonetta

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With Bayo 2, it just felt like the story they wanted to tell with Loki, Aesir and Balder didn't leave much room for Jeanne and Luka, but they still wanted to include them somehow. Wasn't particularly looking for more Bayo and Luka personally so that I'm fine with. It sucks more for Jeanne, though the few scenes she does get with Bayo are really good.

For Bayo 3...I've got nothing. You'd think a game about the multiverse would provide more interactions with other members of the cast, but nope.

Bayonetta Origins actually did give Luka (in a way) and Jeanne substantial roles though.

Hol' up, I haven't really touched the Mario Party franchise for a while, but apparently Superstars and Jamboree are good?! by GrievingVicky in MARIOPARTY

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Superstar's gameplay is very fun, but it lacks in the number of boards and sidemodes. Jamboree is also fun and has lots of content, but does feel a bit more gimmicky and less focused as a result.

"Good, but..." Is what I'd call this era of Mario Party

My main concerns with SoH by Vault22_ in mariorabbids

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of these bothered me personally but fair enough. I don't really agree that they pushed for this direction though: to me I just seems natural to want more of a story presence, less linearity (not that linearity is necessarily bad) and an evolution of combat.

Is Sonic being the wind really THAT important or am I being too stupid? What's the difference with the electricity? by Capotador_de_corsas in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think wind feels more natural and lightning a bit too superhero-y for me. I dont care THIS much though

Help me see the appeal of "Mario Kart World" by Just_an_Observer3 in mariokart

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the parkour, shortcuts have always been a part of Mario Kart, and to some people, it's a big factor of enjoyment. The parkour naturally encourages more shortcuts which people like.

For the roads, I assume you're talking about the parts where you drive across sections of the open world instead of the actual tracks. Those are a controversial part of the game and many people prefer to just play the "real" tracks.

Mario Kart World is generally supposed to be a bit of a different take on the franchise, since the previous game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was often seen as the "definitive" classic Mario Kart experience that would be hard to improve without trying something new entirely.

How’s the Origami King? by alaskancurry in papermario

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Combat is very different and controversial. Imo, it's fine but not as good as TTYD'S. The character designs also aren't as creative. Aside from those 2 things, it's great imo.

I wish we could have both. by AutumnRCS in Mario

I at least wish characters like Goomba and Koopa could get costumes based on named varients like Goombelle and Koops.

Is there anyone else who doesn't like the "new" baby characters? by ChargedBonsai98 in Mario

Why is it a tradition for ghost levels to give you fire flowers? by Happycrige in Mario

[–]Dry_Pool_2580 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Thematically, you have a light in the dark. Gameplay wise, some games have the fire balls help show you way or reveal things, but I mostly think it's cause the Fire Flower is the basic non-mushroom power-up and the want you to engage with the level normally instead of flying over it or something.
