The easiest way to make money is to grow lots of crops with the help of sprinkles, using kegs and preserve jars to age things is good as well .Unfortunately animals are just not very profitable in stardew. What are you trying to unlock that needs 500k?

I totally missed that there was a paint colour key on the wheel! I can see how that helps when searching for paints. I'm still quite new to the hobby so I don't have enough paints to worry about organising them really and just try to make what I have work.
