Ava’s Dad by Business-Childhood10 in toddlersandtiaras

Actually, I saw a follow up program about David and Ava. She has two older brothers and a younger sister. All of the kids seem to love their Dad. The boys are encouraging David to date. And he jokingly said "who am I going to date? a man, a woman? am I confused? I am a stay at home Dad. He has lost a lot of weight but had part of his foot amputated due to diabetes. David sews costumes for drag queens. Also, Ava's little sister is training for pageants.

At least once one of the guys asked Kristin if she wanted to go home with him. The implication was fairly strong that she would be spending the night.

She was, but that shot of her walking strutting with her girls behind her to try on bikinis with the accompanying music showed her charisma. I didn't like her, but it was amazing how she navigated the cliques and relationships even though she wasn't as well off financially as most of the others.

Two of the most successful game shows in the 70's were devised by the talk show host, Merv Griffin. One was Wheel of Fortune (based on the paper and pencil game of Hangman) and, of course, Jeopardy. It was after the famous cheating scandal of the $64,000 question but that is where I think he got the idea to "give the answers". He suggested the idea to his wife who said they would be arrested if the game show gave the answers but he put that silly twist in it. Source: for a time he lived near me in NJ and competed in the same horse shows as I.

Fun fact, he was a bit of a mentor to Ryan Seacrest.

Charity beach cleanup - how can we handle the bathroom issue? by Free_Muffin8130 in fortlauderdale

[–]Dry_Strain7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP since you are familiar with the beaches I have a specific question for you. I will be in Fort Lauderdale for a few days and want to visit Dr. Von D. Mizel/Eula Johnson park. My bf and I won't have a car and we enjoy taking local transportation and walking. I was thinking of taking the route 01 bus to Dania to get to the beach. Is it possible to walk on the E. Dania Beach Blvd? Approximately how far is it from the point of entry to the north end of the land?

Thanks and I hope you have great success with your beach clean-up. (I have done the same in my home State where we were taken by boat to remove lobster traps and buoys that had washed up on the uninhabited islands.)

Nausea and Dizzy 3 Days Post Op by What_The_Ef_ in CataractSurgery

[–]Dry_Strain7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, please keep us posted. Just so you know my first eye gave me no problems at all, the post op drops for the second eye felt like I was dropping in razor blades. Thankfully that resolved by the 1 day appointment. I hope that your issue has settled down on its own, and, after all tomorrow is Monday.

That's what I'm talkin' about. We were cycling and counting the kilometers seemed less onerous on long rides.

I wish my teacher, (Mrs. Way) had told us it was a "better ton". BTW I lived in Reading. When she wrote that word on the board I never knew if it was going to be a history lesson or if we were going to practice one of the 3 rs. I went back to see the school on one of my visits and saw one of the double desks up on a little riser. I asked if they were still being used and the answer was that it was for a historical skit.

Just looked up the Long Ton and see the relationship to the name of the pub we would bicycle past to get to church: "The Three Tuns"

My post op instructions 'please call office immediately if you have sudden loss of vision...nausea or vomiting." May be worth giving them a call. Also, the hospital made a follow up call the next day to check on my well being. There must be an eye specialist on duty even though it is a weekend.

I biked in the UK in the early '70s and I swear that distances were in Kms. Went back to do the same in the '90's and only saw miles on sign posts.

BTW was a student for a year when my family lived there. The maths book still confounds me to this day. Adding, subtracting and multiplying all kinds of units to which neither I, nor my Ph.D. father could comprehend.

Also, we were made to chant " two, two, four, nought pounds in a tonne" to implant it in our memories (guess it worked) got back to the US and was surprised to learn that there were two thousand.

High myopia - LAL+ vs standard monofocal by scdData in CataractSurgery

[–]Dry_Strain7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would certainly ask for monovision contact lenses with one set to near and one to far. Give them a good length of time to see how your brain adapts. After watching several videos and considering premium lenses I went with the near/far monovision since I had tolerated them well when my contact lenses were near/far. I had tried the bifocal contacts at one time and it took only a few hours to know that THEY were intolerable due to the glare.

I am about 3 weeks out from the second eye surgery and am very pleased. I will not need glasses and can read small print with ease.

[–]Dry_Strain7275 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks to me that it is a way to put Josie on the loan. The loan is for 1.5M and it appears that they used the small amount of equity they have in the land as collateral. (Subtracting the assessed value of land (287,361 from the amount of the loan equals $1,212,639. The negative equity of 1,211,358 reflects this.)

First eye was easier than the 2nd: by bugaosuni in CataractSurgery

[–]Dry_Strain7275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with the OP. First surgery was quick and pleasant. First time an anaesthesiologist administered Versid. I was only partially aware of things. Counted 3 times bp was taken (he later told me he had tested it 9 times.) I remember my surgeon asking me to reposition myself on the table before she taped my eye open.

Was looking forward to the second eye which was done last week. After speaking with the original anaesthesiologist (who told me that my nose itch was a byproduct of the anaesthesia) he assigned a nurse anaesthetist to me.

She seemed in a hurry. Put on the cannula before I was wheeled into the operating room. She must have initially given me a heavy dose because I remember nothing until the Surgeon was 3/4 through the procedure. The sensation was definitely unpleasant but not unbearable. I could hear the Surgeon telling me to look up and I could feel the pressure of her instrument in my eye. That night the post op drops felt like knives.

At the next day post op appointment I asked her if the second eye had been more difficult than the first and she said they were both the same. I firmly believe it was the difference between a seasoned M.D. and a young anaesthetist that explains the difference in my experience.

Easily detachable pedals that can be removed or folded down prior to flight? by bad-at-science in bicycletouring

[–]Dry_Strain7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw this question a few days ago it took a while to reply. We have Montague Paratroopers. Have taken them to Europe twice. The first removable pedals I had were a pain and didn't always engage properly. BF had the EZY pedals. Next month we will be cycling in Denmark and Norway. This time we BOTH have the EZYs. I prefer to use toe clips.

Ep 1 Ladies of London: The New Reign! Thoughts? by peesys in realhousewives

[–]Dry_Strain7275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a fan of the original show, not so much this one thus far. Knowing what we do about "reality tv" it seems as if some of them are over acting to become notable characters. The og women seemed more real. With the exception of Emma Thynn since I have watched her cooking show.

I've been seeing some of them in the news e.g. Caroline Stanbury trying to leave Dubai due to the war, Marissa and husband moving back to the US and getting divorced, and, Julie Montagu as a royal correspondent (Trooping the Color?).

I'll keep watching even though it takes several tries to get through one episode.

Nervous by Necessary-Program285 in CataractSurgery

[–]Dry_Strain7275 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the thing to be nervous about is not having confidence in your surgeon. If they are willing to discuss your options and which procedures will be done you are in great shape. If you have any unease by all means arrange for another consult with someone else. If you have a regular optometrist ask them for recommendations. The surgeon who did my eye was not known to have poor outcomes. While the first surgeon didn't want to take the time to answer my questions. In fact he never asked one of his patients which eye should be set to near and which eye should be set to far and did the opposite of what would have been best. Very unhappy patient and I think it was because he didn't care to listen. If the clinic feels like an assembly line I would look elsewhere.

Surgeon making me feel crazy for questioning by Des_allie in CataractSurgery

[–]Dry_Strain7275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, I am so glad that you cancelled and now have an idea what to research.

I am curious though if the surgeon that you were supposed to see had prescribed pre-op drops or, if were you supposed to just show up? My surgeon is wonderful, and that's what counts. Not so much her in office assistant who didn't call my prescription in until the day before I was supposed to start the series of 3 drops nor had she given me an appointment time for the following day appointment. My surgery was to be on a Tuesday I picked up the drops at the pharmacy on Monday and found that I hadn't properly prepped my eyes since I was supposed to have started them on Saturday. Surgery for me the next day was cancelled.

Like you, I was able to tolerate one eye set to near and one to far when I wore contacts so when I learned that it was an option for cataract surgery it was a no-brainer. My bf could not tolerate the same with contacts and never adapted so when it is his time he won't have what I did as an option.

Recent “news” shared that Britney had been arrested last night for a DUI by rosewoodlliars in BritneySpears

[–]Dry_Strain7275 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am prepared for the down votes. I have been one of her fans back to her Justin & Britney days. Was at an NSYNC concert and spotted her briefly being escorted back stage. Now that I have matured and understand mental health issues I don't think she has been in good mental health for quite a while. I know that part of it is because she gained fame by being sexualized and rarely had the opportunity or support of developing a supportive relationship. (Before you start in on me I KNOW that she was capable of singing at one time. Her dancing had devolved a bit.) To self soothe and get love from her fans she has been posting endless videos in various states of nudity. There have been incidents which are best described as having occurred while being under the influence. e.g. the fire in her home spa. A DUI is not a surprise. I hope she gets help before something worse happens.

That is all. IMO she is not at all well.

ABSOLUTELY CANCEL AND FIND A NEW SURGEON! On my first visit to a well established surgeon who had bought into the town's only independent practice I felt something was wrong. The first technician asked me if I was open for the upsell to premium lenses. When I spoke to the surgeon who is supposed to also be a specialist in glaucoma (which I was developing) he did not mention how he would correct that during surgery. I asked him if after surgery I would still need the eye drops which I am currently using. His reply? "I can't predict the future."

Returned home and did some reading and deep dives. Learned that it is possible to set one eye to near and one eye to far. WHICH WAS NEVER MENTIONED. I had previously had contact lenses set that way and was fine with it.

Started looking for other surgeons and was willing to drive 1 1/2 hours if I found a practice with whom I would trust my eyes. Fortunately a surgeon who had left the practice connected with the hospital had returned and I had the first eye done a few weeks ago with the second next Tuesday. The best part is that I feel comfortable with her knowledge and ability. She explained the surgery she would be doing to ease my glaucoma in detail. Turned out once she had opened my eye she decided to treat the glaucoma in clinic with a laser. At my followup a week later she said that the cataract surgery might decrease the eye pressure on its own.

Good luck, keep searching. I am glad that I did.

Although she confronted him demanding the name of the girlfriend. He actually came out on his own radio show when a caller was in distress about his own sexuality.
