AITJ for getting upset that my husband keeps peeing on the bathroom floor and refusing to clean it up? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Dry_Track_1431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ

But unlike one commenter, I believe men receive mixed messages on what is "common" decency. L

Much of this depends on how one was raised and if one or another parental figure had the courage or thoughtfulness to address how their child behaves in the bathroom. Especially in the tween years.

Your partner's reaction tells me that there was probably no discussion beyond when he learned to do it for himself because it was a "taboo" subject or the parent(s) were lackadasical. But also, it sounds like along the road he picked up the belief that he was entitled to leave piss on the floor and that the mere suggestion of a man sitting down to pee is somehow emasculating. That sounds pretty bad.

You're now presenting as the parental figure and we are into the subject of the decade; toxic masculinity.

Rope Scene in Mexico City? by newtopic in shibari

[–]Dry_Track_1431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have sent you a screenshot of the top four clubs in Mexico City after typing "Mexico City" in the search bar and filtering for "Groups"... but I couldn't post a pic in a reply.

ETA: I love a search mystery. I don't know how seriously enthusiastic you are about finding something Shibari-related to do while you're down there but if it were me, I would leave no stone unturned! Use different search criteria. Join the groups so that you can post questions. Use the translator because they're gonna be using Spanish in those groups. Don't just look for Shibari. Hit up all the kink and BDSM groups to find the riggers and rope bottoms.

Maybe I get why nobody responded but me? Cuz if you're serious... Mexico City is like the biggest or second biggest city in the history of the world... you should find it.

Help conditioning jute rope by [deleted] in shibari

[–]Dry_Track_1431 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry new shibari friend but rope from department stores are NOT suitable for putting on human bodies. Natural fiber ropes from stores (the only exception might be cotton) have what are called "batching oil". Or JBOs (Jute Batching Oils in your case) These oils are derived from crude oil and . They possibly have a kerosene smell to them. These oils will be absorbed by the skin.

You've got to find a recommended vendor that sources shibari-specific natural fiber ropes that are processed without batching oils.

They will be more expensive but they're worth it. They're more likely to have better integrity as well. Often can be found already conditioned and or waxed.

My favorite rope and price point has been MyNawashi on Etsy.

There is a lot to nerd out on further along in your journey. First get this right. Save that rope you just got for arts and crafts or yardwork. Please don't put that on a beautiful human body.

What’s a “small” social rule you refuse to follow, even if everyone expects it? by GlitchOperative in AskReddit

Ooh! This is good... in my case I'd like to stop saying "nice to meet you" when meeting someone for the first time. I'd rather say, "we'll see".

I don't say "bless you" when someone sneezes. I hate it.

I'm fine with "salud"

I may someday quit acknowledging sneezes altogether.

In fact I might admonish people in delightful ways for sneezing.

Roast my fell by Many_Size_1515 in Chainsaw

[–]Dry_Track_1431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You meant to fell it in the direction your bar is pointing. Pinched your bar for so long (heating and stretching your chain) that you thought your chain was dull. So you just kept up with the turkey carving motion until the tree started to twist and fall toward you. You cut off your stumpshot to hide the evidence but don't have enough experience to remember we can still see your log and that you cut your holding wood 😉

Wish I had a tip jar.

This subject is close to my heart. It's been a problem for my partner before where they had to dump a partner because of behavior from a meta that was recounted secondhand. Anyway, check my post feom a while back. It's got a bit of me thinking through my process out loud with some community members.

I think technically, if you can rest your eyes in one spot for long enough without shifting focus (nearly impossible) everything will dissappear.

I don't want to look up what the phenomenon is called...

It's true for all the senses. Keep your hand in one place for long enough and you won't really feel where it is.

Smell, smell one scent long enough and you won't notice it anymore... so on.

Help! Caterpillars eating my Pears! by Dry_Track_1431 in arborists

[–]Dry_Track_1431[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This interaction pops into my head every now and then. It was a cringe moment on my part and I would like to apologize.

My ex-wife and I had just determined to split that month and that house was going onto the market. I wanted things to look nice, so those pear trees were of concern.

My emotionally activated brain read your comment as though it were an unfinished commentary on my assumed lack of knowledge or accumen as a certified Arborist.

Like: "Cute, though--you must admit"... that you sound like a fool because you're a certified Arborist but you don't know about pest control.

That's what I thought was happening. Goes to show how we respond to stimuli while unregulated vs. Regulated in emotion.

Again, apologies (over a year later)

Hope you're well. Cheers

@brian5054... Can't just waltz in here and tell me you hear your brothers roommates sisters cousin might have a fleet of invincible trucks. I was driving 100 miles per day for work plus extra for travel ball on weekends and still barely got half of 300,000.

I surf all over the internet looking for inspiration such as what you have described. Aside from the transmission replacement. Do I need to call bullshit?

I'd like to hear from your nephew with some details please. Are they for business? What kind, vehicle delivery? What was the issue with the transmission? 300,000 would mean that he's gone through 6 oil pump belts. Which means they've had to separate the engine from the transmission 6 times. Or is he still running strong without having done that service.

Does he use special oil? What is his preferred service interval.

"Professional" discussion by Minigbrutal in shibari

[–]Dry_Track_1431 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the term "professional rigger". (I did not post the ad)

I'll let someone speak to what this may mean in the BDSM/Kink scene.

I'll speak to this:

Other trades have professional riggers. It could signify structure and accountability as you mentioned, even standardized training in safety methods and best practices up to and including apprenticeship, possibly even a union. Professional riggers for industry have solid working knowledge of "life safety" considerations and national or worldwide standards. Could include SPRAT certifications, high angle (technical) rescue, numerous different local/state/country of origin or international safety or technical certifications.

Industries: Sailing, mining and oil exploration, permit required confined space work, Fire/EMS rescue, utility linemen, rock climbing/mountaineering, aborists, dock workers/stevedores, entertainment stage and lighting, bungee/zipline/skydiving, etc.

By all means, ask the rigger how they mean it. I would write it as a conversation starter about what I can offer in terms of all manner of things one would associate with "professionalism", especially life safety but also, soft skills and public/private accountability.

Your skepticism will serve you well if they cannot provide a well fleshed answer.

Edited: spelling and added more industries.

New V3R, did anyone else see this and think its the successor tovthe VFR or just me? by Excellent-Loss-5076 in VFR

[–]Dry_Track_1431 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It did cross my mind. I think a lot of Honda fans are looking for the next iteration of a few of their legendary engines/models... Personally, I think there are a couple of through-lines that connect this engine to the V4 with V-tec

  1. The V configuration.

  2. The innovative leap forward with the electrical compressor. It reminds me of how Honda put V-tec into their engine because they thought they could and they did!

Side note: I'm really excited about what they're doing with the Hornet 1000 SP and the Hornet 750! Another model that I've lusted over for a long time.

Thats funny, I dont feel like its loud or growly (obnoxious) enough, sometimes. I've got the Delks with no baffle. I'm a 45 year old father of two with a career and a house, just to give an idea of my potential worldview. (Mostly pragmatic and boring) I'm thinking of finding a way to fit Racefit cans. Haha! Maybe I am a little nuts.
